Street Fighter 4 ****, And I Love It!
Street Fighter 4 is probably the best fighting game (IMO) to come along in quite a while. I'm usually hard to please when it comes to fighting games, and often get bored of them quickly. So far, SF4 has been one of the most maddening experience of my gaming life, and probably only behind TMNT 1 and Zelda 2 in my history of games that make me want to chuck the controller at times. I very nearly threw my PS3 controller at the TV last night, thanks in large part to Crimson Viper and Seth, a tag team of cheap enemies.
Seriously, I think the guys over at Capcom are giggling up a storm over the rants about the difficulty of Seth and the cheapness of Crimson Viper. That being said, it's great to finally have a fighting game where I don't feel like I've mastered it after a week, and I love that. This game really will be one of the first fighting games since Street Fighter II Turbo where I will likely play it for quite some time before it gathers dust in the TV Cabinet.
On a separate note, it's a great time to be both a Spurs and Broncos fan (long story how I'm both a Broncos and Spurs fan, but die hard fan of both since the early 90's). As far as San Antonio is concerned, they are in a great position. The additions of Roger Mason and George Hill have both proved to be vital, as San Antonio has another legit long ball threat other than Manu, and a very capable scoring point guard to back up Tony. I think the Spurs will sneak into the playoffs with the underdog tag thanks to a high riding LA, and that's just what I like. Honestly, nothing against the Lakers, as they are stacked, but I think the Spurs will shock a lot of people come playoff time.
Denver, on the other hand, has had some significant changes. No more Mike Shanahan, and good bye about 50% of the starting defense. All I have to say is, amen. I loved Mike, don't get me wrong, but it was time to make a switch. When you are three games up with three to play, and end up watching the playoffs from home, there are serious issues at play. I think he lost his edge with the guys in the locker room a little bit, and wonder if maybe he was getting bored with his job. I'm a huge fan of Josh McDaniels and what he did in New England, especially pre-Randy Moss. I think most people don't realize how much production he got out of such an ordinary bunch of guys not named Tom Brady. And the thing that few tend to know about him is that he started his career in New England on the defensive side of the ball, rather than his speciality of offense. It may be a rough first year as the house gets cleaned a bit, but I fully believe that great things lay ahead for this franchise.
Even though I'm currently having fun cussing a storm at Seth and Crimson Viper, I'm also on a big PC Gaming hook at the moment, and loving Dawn of War II. It's a great game for me largely because it is going against the grain when it comes to typical RTS-style games. Squad based combat and no base building (at least in single player) is a nice change of pace. I'll be the first to admit, however, that when Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 come out, every other game on my PC will gather dust so to speak.

"Grows on you" A seemingly shallow game at first, this game gnaws at you until you realize that there is more than meets the eye here. Continue »
