Well, I did it.
I bought a 360. I know I said I wouldn't but damn, it's got some great games. So far so good. No hardware failure yet. But, it's only been a day so wish me luck. I bought Mass Effect to go along with it. So far it's pretty cool. But I'm only like 10 minutes into it.

PS- I got a new monitor too
I also picked up a new monitor for my pc. It's a 22" widescreen 1680x1050 Acer. It's an upgrade for my 19" 4:3 1280x1024, 4 year old lcd. I got it on tigerdirect for a little over $200. Good deal I thought.

Just got a Wii
I just picked one up today. I was at an eb games and I happened to ask and they said they had one left. A few other people in the store let out audible sighs and exclaimed, "Aw man, you guys had a Wii." The guy replied, "not anymore we don't." I thought that was kind of funny. People know they are hard to find so they just assume stores don't have them. I'm glad I asked. I picked up wiiplay and zelda to go with. I haven't played zelda yet but wiiplay and wiisports are both a lot of fun. Simple and easy, yes. But also fun.

To own or not to own?
Have you ever noticed that you need to own every console to prove you're not a fanboy? Why would you even want to own them all now that most games are multi-platform?

Another thing about the 360
Reliability. It's just not there. It would be my system of choice hands down but MS lost me as a customer because of all the reliability issues. Over and over again I see the same numbers on online polls. The one here on GS is no different. 40% work fine and 30% have failed. I'm actually very surprised so many people are willing to forgive that kind of failure rate. Why pay your hard earned money for something that may or may not work tomorrow?

I've come to a realization about the 360
Even at it's cheapest it's still almost the same price as a PS3. I would get a 360 elite ($480), 2 play and charge kits because the wireless controllers don't come with battery packs ($30), and an extra controller ($40). That's $550 total as compared to the PS3 at $599. Everybody keeps saying how it's so much cheaper but when you add up all the things that you would think should be standard, it's not any cheaper at all. Why make a wireless controller that isn't rechargable right out of the box. That bugs the crap out of me.
