Today i watched the first trailer for the movie Yes Man, starring Jim Carrey as a guy who says no to everything, and then challenges himself to say yes to everything for a year. The trailer gives you an idea of what these things include, and i can't wait for this to come out.
Honestly, it looks like it's back to Jim Carrey's older movies, like Liar Liar, as this movie does look very funny. It's out in December. Watch the trailer here and tell me what you think.
(I think it's pretty cool how Jim Carrey isn't being paid upfront for his role in the movie. Instead, he's going to be paid based on how well the movie does.)
Yeah, so today, i go show my girlfriend how my DS phat's touch screen doesn't agree with me anymore, only to find it working perfectly >_> This is after i bought a black and blue DS Lite yesterday, something i've been wanting an excuse to do for a while now, so i'm still happy with my purchase.
She took the 3-year-old phat DS home with her, along with a couple games. It'll keep her busy during the day, she's happy about it. If she likes it enough, i'll gladly let her just keep it. And i have 28 games for it, so she'll always have something to play on it
In other news, i tried the Nintendo Channel (Wii) demo of Trauma Center 2, and i really liked it. I think my local EB Games has the first one, so i'll get that one before i get the sequel. Just to get a feel for the story, and it's cheaper, anyway.
What i am playing currently, though, is Crosswords DS (still, since the May 5 release date) and Geometry Wars: Galaxies, both DS games. In Crosswords, i'm 65% done the Medium puzzles (100% done Easy) and i'm on the second galaxy in Geo Wars. Both are very fun games, and that's what i'll be playing until my birthday (in mid-August).
Yeah, Toys R Us gave me a full refund for my red-ringed 360 earlier today. $320 back in my pocket, but not for long. This afternoon, i went to play something on my DS, and the touch screen no longer agrees with me. I calibrated it for a few minutes, and that worked fine, but then when i pop in a game, or even start it up, i can't hit anything on the main menu thing for the handheld. It just won't work.
So finally, after about 3 years of a platinum DS phat, i'm gonna drop $130 on a new DS Lite. I cannot wait, as i've wanted one for a while, and i'm basically forced to get one now, which is no pain. I'm hoping to find either a red/black or blue/black DS Lite, they both look nice. I might also get a new game tomorrow, or just preorder something, like Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. We'll see.
Oh, and i borrowed World War Z from the local library. I'm gonna start it tonight. Can't wait. And then after that, i'm borrowing a copy of Watchmen from someone at work. The Watchmen trailer looks real nice.
Maybe i just wasn't meant to own a 360.
I get the new 360 today, this time from Toys R Us, not Target. I unbox it, plug it in (everything was perfect this time), and boot it up. I get giddy with excitement over creating my profile. And then, not even 5 minutes into it, it shuts off.
Yes, folks, i got red ringed.
I didn't even get to fully create my profile. That's how fast it went. So on friday, i'm taking that back and saying that it wouldn't work properly. If TRU will give me $300 cash, awesome. If not, i'm gunning for store credit. There's a lot i could do with $300 in Toys R Us store credit. If they make me exchange it, i'll just sell it on Kijiji for $300 or $275 or something.
Just as fast as i wanted one, i now want nothing to do with the Xbox 360 or Microsoft's gaming products. They've soured me not only for this generation, but any future generations of gaming hardware. They had their shot and blew it. Twice.
So welcome back, Nintendo. Your E3 briefing may have sucked, but i still love you. Currently, i have 28 DS games, and there are tons more that i want (hopefully bought with $300 TRU credit or something). Nintendo makes solid hardware. Always have. Probably always will. They're a company i can count on, and the DS is probably the best overall game package anyone could ask for.
If they say home is where the heart is, then my DS must be my home. It sure has my heart.
So i got my Xbox 360 today, not thursday, from Target in Troy, Michigan. Well, i got the console home, unboxed it and everything, only to find two problems.
1. the wireless controller was busted
2. the power cord wouldn't go into the console
Yeah, instead of two vertical bars on the cord itself that would snugly fit a square piece of plastic, i have one vertical bar that sits right in the middle and blocks the plugging in of my console. After three calls to Microsoft about it (by the way their customer service is AWFUL), i'm just gonna be taking it back on wednesday and getting myself a new console package altogether.
Quite a frustrating day.

Reactions to Microsoft's E3 press conference thing:
It was kinda lame. We got FF13, which i dont care about, and some release dates for RE5 and GOW2 (i'll only even try RE5, since i dont much like Gears), and then Netflix and NBC stuff. And that new dashboard, i don't like.
Here's hoping Nintendo has a good one tomorrow.
Note: I'm picking on baseball fans because earlier tonight i was at a baseball game, so it's all fresh in my mind.
Tonight i was at the Detroit Tigers game, and i came to the conclusion that a lot of baseball fans, or fans of major North American sports, are drones. The scoreboard tells you to clap, so you do. When it stops, you stop. It tells you to make noise, so you do. When it stops, so do you. And they can't be the brightest bunch, either, especially when it comes to the "fan cam." Hey, look, you're on the screen... wave to the screen? No, idiot. Wave to the damn camera. Find it using your image on the screenand wave to that, not the screen itself.
Soccer fans, on the other hand, don't need scoreboards to tell them when to cheer. They make up their own chants, and do that for 90 min straight. They stand the entire game, and basically go nuts. They form supporter groups and make their own merchandise and gear. Soccer fans are superfans. Baseball fans, or at least from what i've seen, are drones.
Anyone else agree?
