    The Genius of Square-Enix

I just purchased my fourth iteration of Final Fantasy IV (for the DS this time). As a hard-core FF fan, I'm finding it hard to resist buying and playing through these new versions of old favorites that I grew up with. This new version sports a completely new revamped 3D engine with new character models and voice acting! So far, I'm loving it, even though I know the story line backwards and forwards and I've probably played through the game a total of 10 times with all of the versions I've owned.

I plan to add a full review after I get a little farther into the game (there are a few plot events that I would like to see played out in beautiful 3D cut scenes), but so far I'm loving this game. Bring on Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI (and 9!!)

Oh, and Square-Enix: Please, please, please make a similarly excellent remake of Final Fantasy VI for the DS!! That is my favorite game of ALL TIME!

    Next-Gen Gaming

Got the Wii. Playing Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Damn fun machine. Damn good games.

Waiting for my PS2 to crap out before I get a PS3. Can't wait to play MGS4.

    First blog ever...

I'm not a big fan of the 'blog' craze. I'm not the type of person to write everything down that's on my mind so anyone and everyone can read it and know my business. However, since no one will probably ever read this blog from this site, I figured I could write down my rantings and ravings here and get a chuckle out of it at some point in the future when I look at it again.

Since this is a video game site, I'll start by talking about videogames first. If I actually keep this up, I may expand to other things, but I'll probably keep it mostly to entertainment ideas.

I just wrote my first contribution to GameSpot with a player review for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. What prompted me to write my own review was the lousy review that GS gave the game, which is, in my opinion, an excellent game. GS gave it a 'good' review with a score of 7.5. I gave it a much better review (although I was extremely limited in space to write everything I wanted to about the game) and a score of 9.0. In my opinion, the game is fun, the graphics are great, the character customiziation with weapons and armor is cool, and the multiplayer is AWESOME. I've been playing the game with my wife (who's a great sport for putting up with my game playing....and she's pretty good, too -- for a non-gamer!), and I've spent much more time in the multiplayer than with the story mode. I'm sure I'll get through the story mode (I play through all of my games), but I'll save the solo playing for when I'm on my own and have time to play.

Other games I'm waiting for.....Well, I'm going to get the Metal Gear Solid collection for PS2. I've played through all of them already, but would like to again. And, since I've sold back my old games and the price for all three is very reasonable. So, I'll get it and play them and maybe eventually burn out my PS2, which will give me a good excuse to buy a PS3 (that, and for a Blue Ray player).

Also, I want a Wii. Bad. I've only played it a few times with friends and at Best Buy, but I'm a true Nintendo fan boy. Now that SSBB is out and Mario Kart is coming out, I'm finding it harder and harder to resist buying one. The only reason I haven't yet is that I have very little time to play it currently. However, in May....I should have some more free time, so possibly I'll get it then.

I think that's all for now. Not sure if or when I'll post again. This was interesting. Kind of strange, actually.
