Crysis 2 .. Thoughts about it.. I guess?

So I just beat Crysis 2 today, yay me. I was really looking forward to the game, I played the multi-player beta and thought it was fun. Since PSN is down I had to go play the single player campaign which, from videos I have watched, seemed fun and I go by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw's comment of a game has to stand up well on its single player and not just the multi-player aspect of it. I was kind of wrong on that assumption. The game looks great and sometimes when looking up at a tree and a building I was like "Wow this almost looks real" but I'm not a person who believes graphics make a game.

One of the first things that bothered me about it was the some what lack of different guns. I guess 20 guns is not a bad amount of them in my eyes so I will rephrase that to saying there was a lack of different feeling guns to the game. I mean all shotguns will feel the same for the most part so they don't count, same goes for sniper rifles in this game. All the assault rifles and sub-machine guns all felt pretty much the same to me. there were 2 different guns I found, I do not know the names to them so forgive me for the bad descriptions of them, one was shooting bullets that looked sort of like the aliens bullets and I think the were electric since they stunned them, the other was .. I do not know how to describe it.. it was near the end of the game and it killed the enemies pretty quickly.. maybe some sort of sonic beam... maybe I missed the shooting animation but I don't remember any sort of animation after pressing the shoot button. I thought the game would have a better selection of weapons.

I liked the whole approach the situation differently thing. I mean I could sneak past an area, go max armor mode and go rambo people or snipe people off. I do not mind everything coming from one power source but when sprinting takes away from that source that bothers me a bit. I mean jumping high, taking more shots, having a cloak, power kicking things and sprinting all from the same power source.. that is just a bit much. I'd rather have sprint be put to a couple second thing and be able to cloak or have max armor for a little longer.

I did not play the first Crysis or even have the sound on to hear the story for half of this game so I can't say much for the story of it. Though I did find that the half of the game that I did listen to it that it felt like the dialogue could have been swapped out with the statements of "Go here" or "Do this" then you could proceed with the added jackass military guy, the person who is pretending to be someone, and some betrayal here and there.

I will wait for the PSN to come back up to say anything on its multi-player part. From what I played of the beta of it I'd say it will be fun if anyone even plays it on the PSN.. do people? or is everyone on the 360 version of it? that would suck. I would recommend this game to some one who wants a basic first-person shooter but with a little difference to it. I would say wait for the price to drop to get it for the single player.. though seeing Central Park rise from the ground in front of my was kind of awesome.
