Tidus's blog

Zanarkand.A city dead for 1000 years.A city I had to see with my own eyes. The end of Yuna's journey. The last chapter in my story.

My favorite game is Final Fantasy X(that probably wasn't hard to guess)because it's the most beautiful and emotional game I've ever experienced.I love games with an emotional or deep story or games with a lot of spirituality, which is why Final Fantasy VII,Final Fantasy VIII,Shenmue 2,Lost Odyssey,Heavy Rain are also amongst my favorite games. My favorite game genre is RPGs and I think Japan make the best RPGs.I like to collect Japanese games because I find most of them fun to play or very charming.

I love anime, whether it's romance & comedy, drama, action, and the more story oriented ones.I also love the ones with a lot of atmosphere(such as Cowboy Bebop). My top 3 favorite anime series are Rurouni Kenshin,AI Yori Aoshi,Suzuka. Some of my other favorites anime series include:-Cowboy Bebop,Macross,Love Hina,Air Gear,Akikan,Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040,Dragon Ball Z(including some of the movies),Gantz,Rumbling Hearts,Mobile Suit Gundam 0079.

I love Asian movies.I love many films from China,Thailand,Japan,Vietnam,Korea.I love Asian horror films,some of the Asian horror movies I like include:Nang Nak(Thailand),The Eye(Hong Kong and Thailand version),The Eye 2(Hong Kong),Suicide Club(Japan),Tale of Two Sisters(Korea),Shutter(Thai version),The Grudge 1 and 2(Japanese version),The Ring 1 and 2(Japanese version),Koma(Hong Kong),Isola(Japan).

Other Asian movies I love include Mah Nakorn,Curse of the Golden Flower,Hero,House of Flying Daggers,Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,The Myth,Casshern.

My favorite Japanese bands are M.O.V.E,Japan-X,Morning Musume,Gazette,Blood Stain Child and I like some of Erica Hashimoto's songs.I also like female Korean pop groups,J-Pop,Thai pop music,Chinese emo/pop music,Marilyn Manson and I like the song Wind of Change by the Scorpions.I also like soundscapes and new age music. My favorite classical music is Johan Pachelel's Canon.

First of all,I'd like to say I'm not much of a car fan but I do like racing events.

I'm loving GT5 so far.I've reached level 16 and have won some of the professional race events and I only played the game for a couple of hours last night and an hour or two today and I already have a highly upgraded FORD GT and I'm able to dominate racing events that have supercars such as more modern ferarris,Lamborginis, racing modified Dodge Vipers etc.

I've owned GT1-4 and I'm playing my brother's copy of GT5.I've only played the first Forza game and I hated the stiff handling of the cars in it and it's cartoony graphics.I played Need for Speed for Speed Underground and Midnight Club but they were too fast and loose for my liking.Initial D Extreme Stage allows car modifications and it's drifting style of racing is fun, especially when you can drift down mountain roads.

I love the graphics in GT5 because they make the cars look realistic, beautiful and polished and the environments look realistic and clean. The graphics in the Forza games try to go for a grainy effect to look more realistic but I think the grainy effect makes them look not as good and the cars in the Forza games look too cartoony for my liking.

In GT4,I really enjoyed the endurance races and I completed 75% of that game and even bought a car that's similar to an F1 car.I hope GT5 has endurance events and I'm looking forward to eventually buying and driving some of the ferarri models and ferarri F1 cars.

I've reached level 47 on Gamespot.I'm not far from reaching level 50.Level 60+ people are supposed to be amongst the longest Gamespot members.

My arm is healing well.I don't even need a bandage for it now nor do I need to get it checked by the doctor weekly anymore.I am glad the chunk that was missing out of my arm has filled/healed.3 weeks ago the hole in my arm was deep to the extent I could see flesh deep within my arm but now it's closed up and I guess tissue has regrown where the hole is.

I've earned the platinum trophy for International Cricket 2010.The game is kinda fun if you like cricket but it has silly things about it such as the CPU batsmen being able to hit sixes from yorkers very easily(even though in realistic it's very difficult to hit sixes from yorkers)and my batsmen constantly get bottom edges that carry through to the wicket keeper(which rarely happens in reality).

Speaking of cricket,India and Sri Lanka are playing in the world cup final tonight(I predicted both of those teams were the 2 best chances of winning the world cup).As for predicting an actual winner,I think it's a 50 50 call.IMO India have a more dangerous batting line-up and the bowling attacks for both teams are fairly even(they both have a great spinners and good pace bowlers).During this world cup,India have struggled during periods in many of their matches, where as the Sri Lankans have seemed to play well consistently. However,India have had a good record against Sri Lanka in recent years.

I've finally found an authentic Thai food place close to my home. Before I had to travel to the Asian community to get authentic Thai food because every other Thai food place I had been to in Australia didn't have authentic Thai food but I found a Thai food place not too far from my house that has Thai food done the traditional way and not the westernized way.So I am happy about that because I miss proper Thai food so much.

As for other gaming,I am still waiting for my copy of Ar Tonelico Qoga to arrive,it shouldn't take too long.So that's why I don't want to start SMT Nocturne,Sakura Wars or Zelda Twilight Princess.

I'm waiting for Yakuza 4 and Hyperdimension Neptunia to drop down in price before I buy them too.

EDIT:I've ordered a copy of Hyperdimension Neptunia from eBay because I found a copy for a cheap price.

Australia's dominance of the cricket world cup and Australia's cricketing dominance in general has come to an end.

Ever since cricket world cups have been held since 1973,Australia has won the cricket world cup a total of 4 times(which includes winning the 3 previous cricket world cups). The West Indies have won it twice,India,Pakistan,Sre Lanka have won it once. For people who don't know, the West Indies are the islands from the Caribbean.

In India's defeat of Australia,it looked like India were coasting to victory but a couple of quick wickets changed things.India's scoring rate slowed and it looked as if Australia had the upper-hand.But a brilliant partnership between Yuvraj Singh and Raina sealed the victory for India. Before their partership,India were 5-187 and needed 261 for victory and India had only bowlers left to come in their batting order and at that time India needed around a run a ball to win,so if either Singh and Raina got out,it would have been unlikely for India to win from that position. This shows cricket is a game where truly anything can happen.

As for my prediction on who will win the world cup? I think India or Sri Lanka have a great chance because they have great teams and they know how to handle subcontinent conditions very well.

I achieved it's proper ending and not the bad ending. It's proper ending is so sad it nearly made me teary eyed.I will watch it's bad ending later because I kept a saved file right before a certain decision the player must make.

Because I own Persona FES I will play through ''The answer'' later on.

That makes the list of games I've beaten in 2011 as:-

    Zelda Wind Waker,Enslaved Odyssery,NIER,Muramasa TDB,Ar Tonelico 2,Last Rebellion,Assassin's Creed 2,Persona 3.

A good point about RPGs with turn-based battle systems is I can play them if I have one healthy arm and one arm that has limited movement.I don't want to put strain on my left arm because it will keep opening up my wound so that means I won't be playing any action games for a while.Persona 3 is fairly gentle on my left arm so I've been playing it.

As for my P3 progress,I've reached the end of the Tartarus and I have a few more boss battles to go as well as using up the remaining days until I beat the game.I witnessed another very emotional event in the story and it was very heartbreaking and I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Japanese sure do know how to create/tell great stories.

The main party I am using now is the protagonist(who I've named Tidus),Aigis,Yukari,Mitsuru). The reasons I've selected this party is because Aigis is very resistant to physical attacks,Yukari has great skills for healing every party member at once and I've levelled up Mitsuru a lot so I might as well stick with her.Tidus's level is level 67,Aigis is level 66,Mitsuru is level 62 and Yukari is level 55.

I will try to do a lot more level grinding before the final bosses because the guide I've been following said the final boss took him an hour and a half to beat.

It's funny how Yukari's bikini has better armor stats than a bullet proof vest.Yukari's reaction is funny when you ask her to wear the bikini as armor during battle.

Yesterday my left arm was bitten by a dog.The bite literally took a chunk out of my arm and the bite was deep to the extent that I could see flesh that's deep within my arm and it's a sight I never want to see again.I went to the emergency place in the hospital and they treated it with antibacterial drugs and they said the risk of infection from a dog bite is very high and the worst case scenario is my arm will need to be amputated and the best case scenario is I will have a horrible scar. The nurse and doctor told me to take 7 antibiotic pills a day, keep the wound clean and to see them again on Monday to get it checked. One of the nurses who was talking to the nurse who was cleaning my wound was my a friend of my dad many years ago when him and her were teenagers. She recognised my dad's name and surname on the computer and she told me she knew somebody of that name when she was a teenager and I gave her a description of my dad from photos of him when he was young(when he was young he had very long, blonde hair)and she said ''yes, that's him''.

Even though she wasn't treating me,she seemed to become extra concerned about me after she realized I was the son of one of her guy friends from the past because she said she was going to ask them to X-Ray my arm to make sure there was no nerve damage but the doctor said they only X-Ray a dog bite if there is signs of nerve damage(such as lose of movement)but I had movement. My dad joked and said luckily I saw a girl from his past who actually liked him and not one who didn't like him.

I've been typing and doing things with one arm since yesterday. It sucks I can't play video games for a while and I'm scared of losing my arm because I won't be able to enjoy video games as much if that happens and what girl would be interested in a one-armed guy? I watched a lot of TV yesterday and I think the Hercules The Legendary Journeys series is pretty cool, even though I didn't like it when I was growing up.It makes me want to play God of War 3.I watched some Xena warrior princess but I don't like her series that much.Everytime I've watched Xena warrior princess,it's been light on mythology and more about sex appeal.

I was thing about adding a photo of the bite on my arm but I don't wanna gross antone out.

If I don't post in your blogs for a while,it's cuz it's hard for me to type with one hand.

EDIT:here's a pic of the bite

I've defeated the 12th shadow and I'm up to floor 160 in the Tartarus. My character has begun dating Yukari(even though he's dating Yuko too)and it was funny when Yukari was mad at my character and she suggested my character could walk home with ''you know who''(I think she was refering to Yuko).

My character is level 53.I don't know how much longer I have to go until I beat the game but I think the game isn't as hard as some people have said it is(as long as I select Personas that prevent my character suffering a lot of damage against bosses or if I select characters who have personas that are resistant against boss attacks. Also,I can use a skill to revive a K.Oed character with 50% of their health or use purchasable items to do so).I've been doing a bit of level grinding, but no more than I've needed to do in most other JRPGs I've played.I also still have 9 of those items that revive my character after he's been K.Oed.

I've mentioned in my previous 2 blogs about the things I love about Persona 3 and I'm also playing the FES version of Persona 3,so after I beat Persona 3,I will check out the extra content on the disc.

To be honest,I will be sad when I finish Persona 3(just like I was when I finished Persona 4)because Persona 3's characters and interacting with Persona 3's characters grows on me.I was thinking how I like how Persona 3 and 4 give you a lot of things to do within them.In Persona 3 and 4,you can do date sims, join clubs, make friends and learn about characters through deep conversations and do trivia(when your character is in c lass). In Persona 3 and 4,when you hang out with a friend or go on a date, you and that person can go shopping,to a movie,to an eating place while having a conversation and when your character is dating a girl, she'll invite you into her bedroom if you make her like you enough(unlike the dull romance elements in Bioware RPGs which just involve a kiss or sex).In Persona 4,you can choose which ingredients to use for recipes which have an effect on the taste of food.Persona 3 has social link reversal elements which means saying/doing something that your friend/girlfriend doesn't like will cause them to avoid you and sometimes the 'wrong thing' isn't always obvious.Even though some WRPGs use sandbox elements to try to give you a lot to do in their world,I think the activities you can do in Persona games are more meaningful.Keep in mind I haven't played Persona 1 and 2 so I can't comment on them.Persona 3 and 4 might not have as much conversation options/branches as some WRPGs,but I think Persona 3 and 4 have more enjoyable conversations than any WRPG I've played.

I'm up to floor 114 in the Tartarus where I've reached a dead end and I just have to wait until after the next full moon before I can progress any further.I've maxed out my social link with Yuko and even though my character is dating her,I'm kinda disappointed that so far the game hasn't given clear indication of whether my character and Yuko are boyfriend and girlfriend and not just dating, unlike Persona 4 which makes the girl your character is dating cuddle/kiss you and she will tell you she loves you and in Persona 4,when your character is dating a girl the social link info for that girl will tell you that she's your girlfriend.

But otherwise,I like how the social link stuff is done and how the characters can/will talk about their everyday problems/feelings/past with you which makes them feel like real people.

I like how it tries to make the social links have realistic human behaviour. For example,my character was friends with another character named Kazushi and Kazushi and my character made plans to hang out on a certain day. However after my character and Kazushi made plans to hang out,Yuko phoned my character and she asked could my character and her spend time together on the same day Kazushi and my character were supposed to hang out together, and because Yuko is my character's girlfriend and Kazushi is just a male friend,of course I'm going to choose to make my character spend time with Yuko instead of Kazushi,so my character phoned Kazushi and told Kazushi my character couldn't hang out with him that day,and Kazushi got mad and stopped being friends with my character. After this happened,I had to make my character attempt to talk to Kazushi a lot before Kazushi forgave my character and they started being friends again, but eventually,Yuko phoned my character and asked could my character spend time with her on the same day Kazushi and my character had organised to hang out once again, and of course, once again I choose my girlfriend over Kazushi and he got mad again and stopped talking to my character again and I decided Kazushi is too much of a baby and a drama queen to be friends with.

So I decided to hang out with another friend named Kenji(who is a guy who has a thing for older women)and even though I've blown off my plans to hang out with Kenji when Yuko phoned my character and asked could I spend time with her during that day,Kenji doesn't stop being friends with my character just because of that(which also means I don't have to worry about social link reversals with Kenji, unlike which happens with Kazushi).

I still have 9 of those items that revive the protagonist after he's been KOed and I will try to save them for the bosses at the end of the game.

I must admit I do like Persona 4 more because of a few reasons.

The first reason is because I like the dating sim elements in Persona 4 more than the ones in Persona 3 because of what I've said above.

The second reason is hate not being able to control each individual character in Persona 3.Sometimes in Persona 3 my party members will make the wrong decision in battle and even though I can tell each party member what strategy to use, sometimes during a battle I will need to give my party members a different order(such as healing)but if the protagonist is affected my a status effect that prevents him performing an action for that turn,I will not be able to give any of my other party members an order during that turn and this can be the difference between winning and losing a battle, especially since sometimes my party members will wait until it's too late to heal another party member or a party member with a Persona that has effective skills against a certain boss will use a turn to heal another party member and another party member who has much less effective attacks against that boss will attack the boss instead and they should do it the other way around.

Another reason is becauase I like the female characters in Persona 4 more than the ones in Persona 3.Even though Yuko and Yukari are cute,I still like Yukiko and Risette from Persona 4 more. And Mitsuru so far has been serious all the time and she's boring to talk with.

But Persona 3 is still a great game and is one of the best PS2 games I've played.Like I've said, some of the P3's characters can be very funny and they are also very individualistic. It's funny how Junpei is so lazy and is too overconfident and during c lass he will often ask your character what are the correct answers for some questions.Yukari can be quite funny too when she loses her temper.Mitsuru's serious personality adds a sense of order and discipline and she seems to know a lot about the shadows and dark hour.Akihiko is confident and mature except when it comes to talking to girls who he likes.Hidetoshi is the vice president of the school council and he's such a big nark and it's funny when he accuses many people of breaking the school's rules and it annoys them.

What also makes the characters entertaining is the situations they will find themselves in and there's other surprises to learn about some of the other characters.

That game is Medal of Honor(2010 version). It was okay I guess, another generic FPS with an 'America and their allies vs terrorists' kind of story and it uses gimmicks such as sniping duels and lots of airstrikes in an attempt to stand out.It was fun for short periods, but it's mission designs that slowed the gameplay down too much at times and it's gameplay bugs ruined a lot of the fun factor.Even though it's a 5 hour long campaign,it felt longer to me,because it became boring.I don't like competitive multiplayer,so the game is another one of those short FPS games that relies heavily on multiplayer for value.

That makes the list of games I've beaten in 2011 as :-Zelda Wind Waker,Enslaved Odyssey,NIER,Muramasa,Ar Tonelico 2,Last Rebellion,Assassin's Creed 2,Medal of Honor.

I miss the days when FPS games often had great and longer single player campaigns.

My top 5 favorite FPS games of all time are

1.Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay

I loved COR EFBB because,well...I do love the Riddick movies as well as Riddick himself as a character and the brutal universe he lives in.I like how the game allows you to use stealth and perform stealth kills and besides the typical FPS styl e gameplay of going around and shooting every enemy you see,you can interact with interesting NPCs,do sidequests and you'll need to try to find ways out of a maximum security prison(which means you'll need to try to find air vents to crawl though and avoid turrets which some people hated, but I liked it because it's suits the Riddick universe). You can also use mechs and besides the dirty looking max security prison, there's some cool sci fi looking environments in the game too.

    2.Bioshock

I like Bioshock because of it's story, setting and atmosphere. The idea of an under-water city environment is brilliant and a nice change to all those FPS that focus on war or groups fighting against companies or something like that.Bioshock gives you a good amount of exploration to do for a FPS game and the game can last you over 10 hours(which is long for a FPS).

    3.Doom 3

Doom 3 scared me,especially when zombies were walking around in the dark room I was in and I was moving my flashlight around to see where they are before they got to me and demons spawned behind you quite often,so you had to use the sense of hearing as well as sight.I still remember when the game took you to Hell itself and you heard souls moaning and crying out for help and it was quite chilling. It was also chilling for me when I heard the demonic laugher and demonic voices taunting me and had dead bodies flung at me,saw messages on the wall written in blood from Demonic forces and piles of dead, mutilated bodies missing eyes and limbs. Also,in Doom 3 you don't have a rechargeable shield and you have to be careful with your ammo and selective with what type of gun you use.

    4.Halo

I loved the first Halo game, but IMO the Halo series has deterioated after it begun with an amazing game. The reasons I loved the first Halo game is because it's campaign has big open battlefields/environments to drive the vehicles around. It allows you to fly around in aerial vehicles without them being on rails and you can get into dogfights against enemies in aerial vehicles or you could use them to shoot at enemies on the ground. You can run up hill and shoot at the enemies below. It was cool when you moved across big open areas and enemy dropships fired at you from above and you had to try to find cover, such as the buildings on the battlefield.

Halo 2's campaign has mostly narrow environments and you could only use aircraft on rails.Halo 3's campaign brought back the wider environments but just like in Halo 2 it only lets you use aircraft on rails and the battlefields/environments aren't as fun to battle on as in Halo 1.The campaign for Halo 3 was very riciculously short a full priced game. After seeing the direction Halo 2 and 3 took,I became sick of wasting my money on the Halo series so I didn't bother getting Halo ODST or Halo REACH.

    5.Medal of Honor Allied Assault

I bought this game for 10 AUD,and although on a technical level it's quite flawed,I enjoyed it a lot.I like how because it's a PC FPS game, you can use a mouse for it(because controller sucks for aiming). My laptop isn't powerful enough to run Call of Duty 4,but it can run MoH AA just fine.I like the sniping segments when you had to find where the snipers were and snipe them very quickly before they shot you(kind of like in the movie 'Enemy at the Gates'.I've played Call of Duty MW2 on my PS3,but I still hate using controller for FPS games and I've heard the PS3 mouse and keyboard sucks when using it for FPS games.

As for other gaming updates,in Persona 3 I'm stuck against 3 enemies in block 3(a few floors after floor 70).I am trying to make the protagonist date Yuko and my social link level with her is level 9 but I'm not sure if my character is dating her or not,do I need to get to level 10 to be dating her? In Persona 4,it was easy to tell if the protagonist was dating a girl, because the girl would say she loves him and cuddle him and it would say if the girl is your girlfriend on the social link info.

    Yuko from Persona 3

    Anyways,that's all for now.

I've purchased it for a cheap price(only 14 AUD)so I just have to wait for it to arrive.I've wanted to play JC2 for a long time, because I love tropical environments and it's supposed to have a huge island/s to explore and it's over the top styl e of action gameplay looks fun, especially when the character walks across flying aircraft and parachutes out of planes right before he crashes them into building and leaping from the rooftops of moving vehicles as if it's easy to do.The scenes when the character is flying aircraft high in the sky and you get a beautiful view of the tropical island below looks amazing.I hope it's 'broken shooting mechanics' don't take away too much of the fun.

    Image 19

My copy of Nocturne arrived today. It's box looks a bit squashed as if something heavy was on top of it.It's new and sealed like in the description,I should test the game later on.

I've mentioned how my brother is staying here and he brought his PS3 games here(Gran Turimso 5,Medal of Honor,Rugby League Live,GRID,Formula one 2010).In the last few days I've been playing two of his games, which are Rugby League Live(for PS3)and Medal of Honor(2010 version).

RL Live has horrible graphics,I think they look worse than the RL game on the original Xbox, and even though the developers tried to make the grass on the fields look detailed and the ball travels in realistic directions when you take shots at goal, the graphics look washed out and jaggy. The difficulty level isn't well balanced either because easy difficulty is too easy and medium difficulty is too hard and when a player makes a line break,if they pass the ball to a support player, the support player will stand their for a split second after they catch the ball and it allows the chasing defenders to catch him.Oh well,I picked up 2 easy gold trophies from that game and I could easily pick up another one if I could handle playing through another season of that game.

Medal of Honor isokay I guess. To be honest,in some ways I prefer MoH more than Modern Warfare 2 because the shootouts feel more fun and smoother to me for some reason. But,the game is very buggy(I've explained about a bug I've experienced with MoH in my last blog, and other problems I have with the gameplay for this game is sometimes when I zoom in with my weapon and zoom out again and try to aim my weapon upwards to shoot a near by enemy, the gun won't point up.Also, sometimes the red indicator that shows the direction of the enemy who's shooting at you will point in the wrong direction and I won't know where an enemy who's shooting at me is(which makes it a pain to choose which cover to use)and I ended up dying. Also, some of the mission designs take away some of the fast paced fun, such as making you try to find where to go or using trial by error.MoH can be quite atmospheric though, for example, explosions will occur all around you and you'll see jet fighters fly quickly above you and sometimes dirt from explosions can make it hard to see and I like the way the snowstorm makes visiblity poor when you're inside the helicopter.

After I finish MoH,I will give GT5 a try next. However,I want to give the other games a try too while my brother is still staying here, because I want to earn trophies for those games while I still can.

But anyways,Nocturne will go to my immediate backlog of games to beat, along with Persona 3 FES,Shadow of the Colossus,Bioshock,Twilight Princess,Ocarina of Time,Sakura Wars,Just Cause 2,Ar Tonelico Qoga,Metroid Other M,Paper Mario Thousand Year Door,International cricket 2010.

I'm sure every gamer has experienced times when a gameplay bug has caused something to happen during the gameplay where the player cannot continue playing the game and has to reload the game and will lose their hard earned progress.

In my experiences playing video games,it's been mostly western games that have gameplay bugs, although I've experienced gameplay bugs with Japanese games too.

Please note:I am refering to gameplay bugs and not graphical glitches.

    Such examples are:

Assassin's Creed II-The game froze up a few times when I played through it once and played it a bit more again to earn it's platinum).

Medal of Honor(2010 version)-After I completed an objective,an NPC I was supposed to follow wouldn't move to the place we had to go next to make the game progess.

Doom 3-My character got stuck against the wall or against objects a few times on my first playthrough

Ar Tonelico 2-One of the last bosses has to be beaten within 3 attacking turns or the game will freeze.

Gears of War-Sometimes my character got stuck against objects. On one occasion, one of the NPCs in my party got stuck somewhere and it prevented me from moving to the next place I had to go to.

Uncharted 2-Drake got stuck against walls/objects a few times on my first playthrough.

Shane Warne cricket-When I made a team follow on,in their second innings, for some reason I would take control of the opposing batsmen and the CPU would take control of my bowlers, but the opposing batsmen would wear the colors for my team and my team would wear the colors of the opposing team(WTF).

Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun-After I completed a mission objective, the mission wouldn't progress anymore although I was able to keep playing the mission...

Madden NFL 97-The CPU controlled opposing team stopped playing against my team(the CPU team had the ball but refused to snap it on anymore plays, and the CPU team kept getting penalised for delay of game penalties but I was unable to finish that game...

EDIT:inFAMOUS:Cole getting stuck against objects a few times within two playthroughs.(Tidus1012 just reminded me of inFAMOUS's glitches).

I have not included the numerous times some games I've played on PC had frozen or crashed, incase it was caused by hardware.

I play Japanese games a lot more than I play western games, but it's weird how a vast majority of the times I've experienced game crippling bugs,it's been with western games.

I've also heard Fallout New Vegas and Super Mario Sunshine have bugs that force you to reload the game.

My brother moved back in,and he likes to game a lot too,but we only have 1 HDTV and 1 standard monitor in our house and my dad uses the HDTV to watch TV programs a lot,so that leaves the SD monitor as a spare and since my brother's gone through a tough time lately,I will let him use the monitor and my PS3 a lot(my brother has a PS3,but it broke down during the warranty period,so he's waiting for it to get repaired and SONY said it will take 2 months to get it fixed)and I will use my PS2 and PS3 less often. However, the positives to this are,it's good to have my brother back, because it's nice to have another gamer to talk too, also,I can play his games too, such as Gran Turismo 5 and his other games, which means I can earn more easy PS3 trophies and I won't have to pay money to be able to play GT5.

However,I won't be able to play Persona 3 as much, and I definately won't have it beaten before my copy of Ar Tonelico Qoga arrives.I've also purchased international cricket 2010 for PS3,because growing up in Australia and having many friends from India,Pakistan,Sri Lanka meant I kinda had to play cricket with them to fit in,and cricket can be kind of relaxing to play and that game has an easy platinum and cost me only 13 AUD,so why not get it?

It's supposed to be dispatched on March 25 and it will take a week or two to get to my house from the U.K.I can't wait to play it.

I don't know if I will have beaten Persona 3 by then, and I don't want to rush through Persona 3,because I love doing the social link stuff in it.Then again,I enjoyed spending lots of time working on the date sim features/searching for conversation topics and doing cosmosphere stuff in Ar Tonelico 2 and I'm sure I'll enjoy doing those in Ar Tonelico Qoga.

I was thinking about buying Hyperdimension Neptunia, but it's still a bit expensive and it's received a lot of negative reviews,so I'll wait for it to drop down in price a bit.And yes,I'm aware Gamespot gave Hyperdimension Neptunia a score of 3.0 and it has a score of 4.8 on Metacritic, but people have said it's suited to hardcore JRPG/anime fans, which is me.Gamespot even gave Hyperdimension Neptunia a lower than Last Rebellion.

I've been playing the game for roughly 7 1/2 hours and I'm loving it and it's very addictive.I can see why people say it has a darker feel than Persona 4,because in Persona 3 you'll often see pools of blood in the environments and the environments for the dark hour periods have a dark, morbid feel.

For people who don't know, the story in Persona 3 is about how a period of time known as the 'dark hour' occurs everyday and always begins immediately after midnight and it lasts for 1 hour and during that hour, most people will be transformed into or placed into coffins but a few people will not be put into a coffin and during dark hour, creatures known as 'shadows' roam around and attack people and their victims are often left in a coma,so it's up to the few people who are not put into a coffin during dark hour to fight off the shadows and to put an end to this horror.

The main character who the player names is a cool looking, blue haired guy and his past motivates me to help him.I like the other characters such as Yukari(who is an attractive female character with nice legs, who often wears a short skirt and cute uniform),Junpei Iori(a funny, oafish, easy going guy),and the other characters add a good variety of personalities.I did laugh quite a bit near the start of the game because the characters can be quite funny, such as when Yukari told the main character not to tell anyone what happened between him and her(or something like that)and Junpei overheard Yukari telling the main character that and he assumed it was something sexual and Yukari yelled at him.

I'm spending a lot of time building my social links and learning a bit about each character(I love how Persona games allow you to do this),I haven't had much luck in making my character spend time alone with Yukari but my character has walked home with another girl a couple of times(I forgot her name)I wonder if I can make my character date her.I've made my character join the athletics club and I want to try the other clubs but all the other clubs I've tried to join are full, but the game is already making me decide how I want to make my character spend his time since the athletics training occurs after school on certain days, plus some other characters want my character to spend time with them at the same time my character is supposed to have athletics training.

Also,in Persona 3,your party members can be affected be tiredness/illness which affects how well they can perform in battle,so I can't do too much level grinding or make my character do too many tasks/activities otherwise he will take longer to recover. The tiredness/illnesses stats are not in Persona 4,so they were something new I had to adapt too, because in Persona 4,I could make my characters level grind for long periods.

    But yeah,I'm loving this game.

    Main Character

    Yukari

    Junpei Iori

    Mitsuru Kirijo

Finding the 100 feathers was a nightmare until I used a guide the focuses on districts to make it easier.I missed the fly swatter trophy on my first playthrough, and I didn't want to have to play through the game again for one trophy so I downloaded one of the DLCs for 7 AUD(a bit of a rip off since that's half the price of a full game)so I could use the glider right away and kick an enemy. So that makes my plat collection as plats for Resident Evil 5,inFAMOUS,Uncharted 1 and 2,AC2,Terminator Salvation and Last Rebellion.

    Anyways,now I can start Persona 3 now

    There's 2 reasons I'm disappointed about it.

    1.It's not coming to PS3.

2.It won't have the Shenmue games,Jet Grind Radio,Blue Stinger,ChuChu Rocket!, Seaman, Skies of Arcadia.Toy Commander,Sonic Adventure 2,Ecco Defender of the Future.

However,it will have Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5: Part 2.

It's ending is incredible,I would never have guessed it,I thought I would only see the type of ending that AC2 has in Japanese games.

That makes my list of games that I've beaten in 2011 as:-Zelda Wind Waker,Enslaved Odyssey,NIER,Muramasa,Ar Tonelico II,Last Rebellion,Assassin's Creed II.

But I actually beat most of AC2 last year, but I stopped playing i for a while and didn't beat it until today.

I'm trying to earn AC2's plat right now,but I'm having trouble earning one of it's trophies,it's the trophy for catching a Borgia courier.I've rarely come across them, and when I do I haven't been able to catch them because they run/climb so fast and I can't see where they go on the map.If I manage to get the trophy for catching one,the other trophies look fairly easy to get,as I've already gotten the toughest looking trophies in the game such as the sandman, sweeping 5 guards, air assassinating a poisoned enemy etc.To be honest I've been trying to get this trophy all day,if it wasn't for this damn trophy, the AC2 plat would be so easy to get.

I guess I will make this a short blog.

I was distracted while I was trying to watch Vexille, but I was impressed with it.Like I stated in my previous blog, the story is set in the year 2077 but it shows events from decades prior and how the U.N banned the construction of special robots but Japan refused to comply with this and Japan beomes cut off from the rest of the world, and Japan deports it's foreigners, bans further immigration, and even sets up special energy fields to prevent Japanese people communicating with people outside of Japan by phone and prevents satelites from spying on them.

Japan ends up being controlled by an evil company who's scientists use the Japanese population as guinea pigs and I don't want to spoil the rest of the story, but I'll say it has good plot twists.

I also like how the future version of Tokyo in this movie is a shanty town/wasteland and you'll see many people crowded around outdoor markets and people struggling just to have food to eat. It's a nice change to the typical 'metropolis/high tech Tokyo' that's usually shown.

The ending has a very spiritual message and I love the artstyl e for the movie,it has influences of anime and CGI and some of the scenery is breath taking, such as the shanty town version of future Tokyo with the wasteland atmosphere and beautiful sunset in the background.

I'll have to watch this movie again to pick up things that I missed the first time I watched it,and I think it's a great movie and has some creative sci fi/sociopolitical concepts.I give it a score of 4 stars out of 5.

Last night I also watched a Japanese horror movie named 'One missed call'.I have one missed Call 3 on DVD but I haven't seen the original before.

It's about how people start receiving strange phone calls which turn out to be phone calls from their future selves at the same time they're supposed to die and these people start getting killed one by one at the same time as their phone rang. And yeah, they'll try to come to the bottom of what's causing this to happen and there's some quite scary ghosts in the movie and I still remember the way in which one of the characters died and the spirt twisted the body of the woman so much her head came off and her limbs were bent and twisted as if she was a doll and it was very creepy.

I've finally bought Sakura Wars So Long My Love. The main thing that makes this game stand out to me is it's like an interactive anime, with lots of date sim elements. Also, mech battling and RPG elements make it sound even more appealing.

I was searching for a copy of Shadow Hearts 1 or 2,but new and sealed ones are too expensive and preowned ones I saw for sale have damaged boxes/scratched discs.I found cheap, new and sealed copies of Shadow Hearts New World, but it's wild west theme isn't my kind of thing.I want to get into the Shadow Hearts series, but I'd rather start off with SH 1 or 2.

I'm not far off beating Assassin's Creed II.It's a fun game but it's controls really annoy me,especially when EziO bounces off walls or leaps in the direction I don't want him to(which forces me to redo segments)or clings to the ledge of a platform. But the stealth/assassination type gameplay is fun.To be honest,AC2 feels quite similar to Tenchu Z,especially the way you can use stealth to instantly kill enemies/targets and the way you can move across rooftops and you're supposed to use stealth, but AC2 gives you bigger, open environments and a cities full of people to interact with.I want to earn it's platinum trophy too, because nearly everyone who's played AC2 either has it's platinum or is close to earning it's platinum.I've earned platinum trophies for games with harder platinum requirements than AC2,so there's no reason I shouldn't be able to earn AC2's plat, unless I simply don't have the time.

I watched the anime movie named ''Wings of Honneamise: Royal Space Force'' a couple nights ago,it was okay. It's story is set on a parallel version of earth where a man with not much ambition gets the opportunity to be the first man in space, and there's more to the story that I don't want to spoil, but I'll say I like it's dark, industrialized styl e atmosphere and the story has a darker/mature feel because you'll often see men acting like rednecks and treated women like sex objects.

Vexille is on tonight,I'm looking forward to it.It's story sounds very interesting.I think it's story is set in the year 2077 but it explain things that happened in the years coming up until then and the U.N banned building robots and Japan refused to comply to this so Japan has become issolated from the rest of the world and Japan even deported all of it's foreigners and bans furthr immigration.I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story pans out.

I've earned the platinum trophy for Last Rebellion(which also means I've beaten it).I still stand by what I said before, which is that it's one of the worst JRPGs I've ever played. But I do like some of the music in the game, such as the electronic/Japanesey music for one of the boss fights, and the beautiful song that's sung by a Japanese woman at the ending credits and I like the dreary/hazy atmosphere in the game, especially how the yellowish sky blends with the hand drawn style illustrations and asian styl e buildings. It's platinum is very easy to earn too.

The list of games I've beaten in 2011 is Zelda Wind Waker,Enslaved Odyssey,NIER,Muramasa,Ar Tonelico II and Last Rebellion.

JustAdam sent me a message on PSN and said he's tried the trial version of Catherine,he sound he found it on the Japanese PSN(maybe this is old news to some people)he said it's weird, even for Japanese standards.

A couple of days ago,I thought to myself I had nearly forgotten about Catherine,It was supposed to have been released in Japan of February 17th and some Japanese resturants even supplied Catherine theme drinks and meals to promote the game.I hope a localized version of it isn't too far away.

My copies of Persona 3 and Nocturne should bearriving soon, and Ar Tonelico Qoga's release is roughly a month away so I might be overwhelmed with great games soon.Especially if I get addicted to Persona 3 in the way I got addicted to Persona 4.

Has anyone played Sakura Wars? and if so,did you like it? I want to try the Sakura series, especially since Gamespot said this about Sakura Wars ''This amusing strategy RPG is as close as you're likely to get to starring in your own anime'' and it's like an interactive anime with dating and mech battles. But I've heard people saying the levelling up system in the game is very different to other RPGs,and I want to be able to level grind incase I get stuck against tough enemies Sakura Wars is very cheap on eBay too.

Mana Khemia is another series I'd like to try.NIS has hinted about Atelier Rorona 2(Atelier Totori) being localized,I was excited about the first Atelier Rorona before it's release, but heard some concerning things about it but I might get it later on if I find it very, very cheap. To be honest,I'm more interested in Atelier Totori because it has prettier girls, here is one of them,I love long, black, straight hair.

This would be an exciting time if you were a Japanese person, because you'd already be able to play games such as The Last Story,Catherine and Tales of Graces(which was actually a 2009 release for Japan).I'm waiting for a PAL release of Arc Rise Fantasia, because it looks awesome and many people who've played it have liked it.
