So after all this time a change?
Interesting that Gamespot would change the whole layout of the website without so much as a "heads up". Mebbe' they did announce it and I, as usual, was either too busy or too drunk to notice it. All in all I think the updates a cool one. Seems well organized and quite easy to navigate. Now as long as we don't lose our current levels or run afoul of the moderator god's we should all be alright. At least it gives me something new to look at while the rain continues to fall outside. What a crappy summer.

I don't see it, I don't get it
I was looking at the comparative stills for "Crysis" wherein they show you what the game would look like on an Ultra high end Vista/DirX10 rig vs. an XP High end vs. a XP Ultra High End Rig. To be honest, I couldn't see any difference. Maybe it's my old and crusty eyeballs or my lacklust LCD monitor. Whatever the reason, the stills from DirectX 10 rigs didn't wow or impress. I'm old enough to know a paradigm shift when I hear it or see it. I heard the difference between stereo and mono, between vinyl and CD and VHS and DVD. I know when somethings good enough to change the way we entertain ourselves, DirectX 10 does NOT fall into that category for me, at least not now. It may someday but someone's gonna have to prove it to me, and I do mean prove it.
To play games or view content via DirectX 10 I'd have to build a whole new system from scratch and what I saw on Gamespot just didn't move me enough to upgrade now or in the foreseeable future. Sorry.

Hmmm "All Hallows Eve"
For those who might not know, when I'm not out playing bass guitar and singing with the band, I'm make a living as a Govt. Mule. I work in an unnamed agency in Albany, New York. I know that this confession will have some folks gaggin' and rolling their eyes. But hey, do you think I WANTED to be a "State Worker'? No, I din't, it's not like I sat in school saying "man I just gotta have a career in middle leve State management". No I, like most people in this world just kinda wound up here through a series of unfortunate events.
The whole reason I'm mentioning this is that, in that it's Halloween I have some folks here dressed in costume. We've a Capn' Jack Sparrow, a bumble bee, a gladiator/roman legionarie amongst the drab gray flannels. At first I thought "bah, what idjits... Grown folks without enough sense to leave this day to the kids. But the more I thought about the more I began to admire my co-workers with enough love of life and balls to look silly. God bless em, they made my day. Have fun, be safe and today of all days, let your freak flag fly.
