Sorry for the extended absence... let's just say I haven't felt compelled to write a blog.
Recently, I have picked up several games. First of all is Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition. I didn't actually want the Gold Edition but it was the only one there in HMV and GAME didn't actually have any copies at all. Overall, this game so far wins my most surprisingly good game of 2008. Before this game came out, I really didn't have much hope for it. I was previously a fan of the previous Battlefield games. I have 1942 and BF2 and I enjoyed them both though BF2 was so much better. I used to have Vietnam but I actually gave it away to fellow GameSpotter BINGBASHBOSH. So yeah, I liked the PC games but I played BF2: Modern Combat and I was pretty disappointed and it seemed somewhat clear that the Battlefield series is best experienced on the PC. But Bad Company totally changed my mind about that and it goes to show that the game can easily work on console given the proper care and attention. (and name for that matter... BF2: Modern Combat is nothing like the PC game) What was even more surprising that the single-player campaign is very solid and mostly enjoyable. The characters were great with a well written script and the voice acting is also very good. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't perfect and I really only have one main complaint. It is the fact that when you die, you just respawn at the last checkpoint opposed to actually restarting from the last checkpoint. This made the game rather easy but it also made it feels a bit loose and unfinished, in my opinion. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the game and I would like to see the characters appear again in the future. The multiplayer is also very good. I did play the demo before I bought the game and I was impressed. Overall, I like the Gold Rush mode though I am looking forward to seeing Conquest make its epic return as this is the Battlefield gameplay that we all know and love.
I also bought Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for £8... bargain price and I just had to get it! I loved the demo when it came out nearly a year ago but I didn't get the game until now. I plan to play it later on today as I have only played 2 hours of it. I also bought an old game called Global Operations which was £4. I bought it because I heard it was a good team-based shooter and I have never seen the game in shops until that day, so I bought it. There only are like 4 servers for the game but the people who play the game seem to be pretty hardcore and they kick my ass. The pistols seems to be some of the best weapons the game
. Well enough of my rambling, have a good summer and I will get in touch soon.
Two words...
Rock Band
My friend got the complete kit, we all played... good times. My personal favourite song is probably Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi but I can't wait to play some of the other songs on the soundtrack. I am terrible though really, I only do everything on easy... never had Guitar Hero and I am just no good at drums ^_^. Singing was good but yeah on easy because it took a while to get used to. Sab0tage by the Beastie Boys was an interesting experience AAAH I CANT STAND IT. (Hate the song though, I think it's the equalivent of rap noise) I love the game, while I can't see it being that interesting on my own, with other people it is just excellent.
Just the video, I managed to upload this morning in a blog... very interesting ![]()
I can't make one tonight but tomorrow seems good. And yes I agree Oliver... MGS4 looks excellent. I loved MGS2 but MGS3 was too different for me (I think so anyway) but this one looks great. It is also good to see the new camera angle from Subsistence to be in MGS4. Ah well, it won't be on 360 because they are pushing the boat on Blu-Ray with its bigger disc space. Ah well, have a good sleep guys.
...of my 360.
It isn't a red ring though, my problem is that the thing doesn't want to read and load any games or anything I put into the drive. I have done my research to see what the problem is specifically and there has been maybe a washer or something stupid that has been removed and thus, the DVD drive doesn't function right. The last time I got to play my 360, I was playing GTAIV and COD4 and I have to admit, there was some strange noises being made but it didn't affect loading times and both games played very smoothly. I honestly didn't think there was a problem and the noise wasn't being made during COD4 so I just assumed it was because GTAIV streams a lot of information. I actually wasn't the last one who played the 360 though and this is the annoying and frustrating part. My older brother was playing the 360 last but I honestly believe him that it wasn't his fault. He said he could play the game but the loading times were bad and the game eventually crashed and displayed a dirty disc message. He tried to watch a DVD but he said that crashed too. When I was told this, I was intially annoyed as you can imagine but I thought I'd give it a go myself. My 360 just doesn't read anything. My safest bet is to contact Microsoft rather than opening up my 360 and being rather ridiculous. Ahh well, now I have nothing to play. Ah well... I got you PC...
