GameSpot Blog - Post #2
Yes, I'm still here! This is my second blog post. I know I haven't posted in three months, but things have been kind of unusual lately, and I've been focusing on working on other stuff. My newest fan game, Aventura de Luigi, is close to completion, with 24 of 25 levels playable. I still need to add a couple more sub-rooms and fix the map screen before it's ready for release.
As for my walkthrough-writing, my recent work has been baseball-related, including FAQs for ESPN Baseball Tonight and Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball, two SNES titles that really weren't spectacular but might be worth a second look if you'd like some cheap entertainment. Another baseball guide, Super Bases Loaded 3: License to Steal, is just about ready. Also, my big guide for F-1 World Grand Prix II for the N64 should be ready soon.
Speaking of Formula One, the 2009 F-1 season started last week with a bang, as Jenson Button of the brand-new Brawn GP team took the checkered flag in Australia. I think it's good to see a new team like Brawn in a position to give the Ferraris and McLarens a good fight. I suppose you could say this paragraph is completely off topic. But that's OK - this is a blog, and blogs are great places to go if you like off-topic information.
As for games I've been playing recently, I gave Pokemon LeafGreen for the GBA a playthrough on those slow days last week where the rain just wouldn't stop precipitating. The first part of LeafGreen is essentially the original 1998 GBC Pokemon games with better graphics. But once you beat the Elite Four, things get a lot more interesting! I don't pretend to be a Pokexpert, but some of you might find my final party rather interesting:
1. L77 Raichu(F)-Modest (Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Thunder, Light Screen) (Leftovers)
2. L73 Butterfree(F)-Hardy (Psybeam, Gust, Silver Wind, Stun Spore) (Leftovers)
3. L63 Hitmonchan(M)-Brave (Mach Punch, Sky Uppercut, Ice Punch, Counter) (King's Rock)
4. L61 Venusaur(M)-Naive (Razor Leaf, Synthesis, Leech Seed, Growth) (Quick Claw)
5. L56 Articuno(N/A)-Serious (Ice Beam, Mist, Agility, Mind Reader) (Nevermeltice)
6. L45 Dugtrio(F)-Docile (Dig, Slash, Mud-Slap, Sand Tomb) (Amulet Coin)
Yeah, I know you can do better than that, but at least I've got something that can beat most types. I like developing a Caterpie into a Butterfree early in the game to deal with all those mid-game Bikers and Rockets, and Articuno is almost imperative against Lance. Raichu makes Lorelei and several other Elite Four Pokemon a piece of cake. The sixth member of my team is kind of iffy; it could be a good spot for a Dark, Fire, Water, or Rock Pokemon. Sometimes I use Mewtwo there if I want a little "help." I never really got into Pokemon when it was hot, but playing the games in the past eight months or so has shown me they've got real substance if you look beyond the initial hype and merchandise. I'd probably even get the new Pokemon Diamond if I had a DS, which, sadly, I don't. Oh well.
If you can't get enough of VinnyVideo's contributions to the "blogosphere," you can also check my new blog on Neoseeker.com. Yes, I'm now maintaining not one but two blogs. However, there is no overlap between the two, as you will see. My GameSpot blog is centered around video games; the Neoseeker blog is not. Regardless, so long, farewell, and all that.
P.S.: Some of this is already out of date; I typed it about a month ago.- Posted May 11, 2009 5:18 am PT

My first blog
The 23rd Day of December 2008
Wow! My first blog entry! While hardly verbose, diehard fans of VinnyVideo's FAQs - if there are any - may find this to be fascinating literature.
As for my FAQ-writing career, this is the first time I've ever NOT had a guide in progress (except for Where in the USA in Carmen Sandiego, which needs heavy-duty updating). For now, I'm focusing on updating my guides and getting the crud out of my Note.TXT file (where I keep a lot of my walkthrough-writing notes).
Also, I've finally cracked the Top 25 list for most prolific FAQ writers! I don't know if I really deserve it, but it's awesome anyway.
Signing off,
-Vinny
P.S.: More is coming soon.
