    Artificially Difficult

So I was just talking to my cousin about some games being artificially difficult. I feel a strong contender for this is Fallout 3. The game isn't hard too hard to begin with, but I feel that the developers did a few things to artifically inflate the difficulty.

For example they heavilly enforce an encumbrance rule in the game. Normally thats not so bad, but within the games own rules the maximum your character can carry if you have the highest strength and taken special abilities to allow you to carry more stuff is 400lbs. Now by real world standards 400lbs is alot of junk you can carry around. However in the game if your average enemy carries 50lbs of loot the maximum amount of enemies you loot before you are overencumbered or leave it to rot is eight guys. Now bear in mind you already are carrying around your own equipment and you might not be the big beefy guy, you might be the sneakthief or the nerdy hacker so you carry less.

Your only option if you want to be a greedy bastard like me. Clear out a dungeon/stronghold then go back room by room picking up all the loot, when you get over-encumbered you move at 50% of your normal speed and can no longer jump or move over low obsitcals, and then slowly make your way back to the entrance and dump everything into the nearest container and then make 30 trips back and forth between the shop and dungeon to sell your loot.

Another thing that kinda annoys me about Fallout 3 is weapon degradation. Your weapon in this game will only last in best condition for maybe 4 shots. As it will drop in condition with each shot and then at around average condition it will last maybe 50-100 depending on the weapon. As weapon condition drops the damage it does goes down also. The only way to keep these weapons in best condition is to cannibalise maybe 3-5 other weapons of the exact same kind to salvage for parts to repair your weapon. So if you're like me and want to keep your weapon in the best condition possible you need to carry around a ton of weapons so you can repair after a firefight....but oh yea that right stupid encumbrance.....

    I admit it.....I read Fanfiction.

Its one of those guilty pleasure's of mine.

Most of the fanfiction out there though is yaoi/slash or just plain horrible but every now and then I come across some fairly well written works so I like to keep track.

The ones that I keep track of usually update every month or so and the more prolific writers update every few days to a week.

Lately though I'm just sad because all of the authors that I keep track of havn't done any updating in about two or three weeks. I'm so bummed out I got nothing to read now. I guess I can't blame them since they probably got caught up in their own daily activities but I wish they would update so that I'd have something to read. =p

    Man I'm terrible

So my cousin recently got me into FPS, probably a little over a year or two ago is when I first started playing them.

I'm playing Battlefield:Bad Company at the moment and I really enjoy it, but you see they implemented a ranking system. I don't mind that since its always cool and as you rank up you get to unlock more and more stuff to use in the matches. Sorta like CoD4. Which is always cool.

I guess the thing that sorta reinforces my crappiness is that when you get to the maximum rank and have unlocked everything they tell you on rating score of 1-50, with 1 apparently being the top player in the world, just how good you are. I'm 32.

Man, 32. not even a freaking passing score. Thats like major flunkage. I knew I was bad, but I would've liked to have at least consider myself average. T_T

Oh well maybe I can work on it some more and just go for kill instead of objectives since it seems to work best off kills.

Who knows maybe I won't even bother with it and just play to have fun. Strange concept huh. =p

    Aite I'm out now laters.
