    Fanboys are not Gamers.

A true gamer enjoys games on all hardware platforms. Fanboys don't appreciate games, just the hardware.

Will 1983 repeat itself in 2008?

With the lackluster reviews of this years E3 we've got to stop and think if the video game industry is heading back to the low period of 1983. Having been 19 years old and a video game junkie in '83 I vividly remember the demise of the industry.

The lack of quality games was the reason for the video game collapse in 1983 and it seems the lack of new innovative gameplay could be the demise of our current industry. We've gone from a Video Game Industry to a Video Entertainment Industry with the word "Game" being all but completely removed from the equation. It's now about hardware bragging rights and price points. I sometimes feel like there's no longer an interest in the actual gamers and more of a glorified pissing contest among the manufactures. They're more concerned about who gets the exclusive titles and less concerned as to whether those titles are actually worth playing. For most of todays titles it's a "been there, done that" scenario, or as it's been more recently referred to as a "rinse and repeat" scenario.

Please Mr Microsoft, Mr Sony and Mr Nintendo, it's us gamers you should actually be concerned with. I understand each of your companies have shareholders you're responsible for but you also have other aspect of your company which can address those financial responsibilities without burring the gameplay into the abyss. Because without the gameplay you have no gamers or have you all forgotten 1983?

    E3 2007 - Missing Falcon and Rumble

After watching all 3 press conferences I was surprised to notice absolutely no mention of 2 topics which have been bantered among the forums. They are the new "Falcon" chip for the XB360 and the inclusion of Rumble for the PS3 controller. The Falcon chip is a must for me to purchase since I collect consoles for long term enjoyment and the current XB360 has some heat issues which are a systems worst enemy and the Falcon chip will run cooler which hopefully will allow me to enjoy the XB360 maintenance free for many years to come . The rumble is a "nice to have" feature for some but a necessity for me since the two genres I enjoy the most are FPS and racing/driving Sims. The rumble adds a serious sense of immersion for me especially in driving games as I can better tell when I'm being nudged or am drifting off the tarmac. I'm surprised neither company made any mention of these features. Oh well, there's always the Tokyo Game Show in Sept for a possible announcement of the "RumbleAxis"
