Finally! After a week waiting for my iPhone - initially got one from eBay (16GB model) for quite cheap, but issues between me and the seller ended me getting a refund and the transaction going through.
So after another week still waiting for PayPal to complete the refund process, I gave up waiting and bit the bullet. Went down to my local 3 store and requested for a handset upgrade - so I'm stuck with my current plan for another 2 years (but hey, I haven't complained, I like my service so far)
After doing research about the pricing of the iPhone from 3 - I found out that getting both the iPhone 3G and 16GB model of the 3GS is a rip off (more expensive then getting it outright unlocked from the Apple store), I decided to get the 32GB 3GS model (the cost from 3 - $1080, buy outright from Apple, $1040, that's good, better than the pricing for the other two)
Very happy, been mucking around with it, and just like when I played my little sister's iPhone 3G - I think it's a brilliant device, even with such restrictions, lacking features and huge price mark-up from other phones.
Also got myself on order and should be arriving tomorrow, a protective casing for my iPhone - the SwitchEasy Rebel Capsule - that thing looks awesome and hopefully will protect my costly investment.
Sadly, I got one of the new revision on the iBoot ROM where Apple blocked the exploits that are important to jailbreaking - so no homebrew of jailbreaks from my iPhone currently
- but the official app store is so packed with a lot of apps that I might just skip jailbreaking altogether. Here's some pictures, and bye!

Well finally finished Uncharted 2, and overall, I liked it. Did seem a lot better than the first one with even more bigger environments and more epic moments.
I would have given it a 8.5, but then the game did two things that made me score the first game lower. First thing, quick time moments - GOD SAKE, STOP USING THEM!!! I hate games that forces the player to press a button. It is a stupid system that should never be used again. Second thing, ancient mutants, what ever you call them, once I sure the supernatural things, it was an instant score-down, sorry, but no. On the other hand, good to see no blatant inclusion of motion control.
And that last level - annoying! Just running around in circle while the damn guy can move faster than a rocket while being spammed by a kajillion grenades. Yeah, the last level still sucks, like the first game.
Good to see however that the multiplayer is actually really fun. If only matchmaking actually worked, PSN didn't suck like a dog's bollocks and added a lot more features (like search games by location, connection, etc.).
Overall - the campaign gets 7.5 but the multiplayer boosts it up to a 8/10

Well here we go, Uncharted 2 - the next supposebly gem on the PS3.
Now I will admit that I wasn't a fan of the first game - it's was fun and interesting, but not to the point of 'OMG best game ever!' - I would award it a 7/10 tops - have some crap levels, broken gunplay mechanics at times and the protagonist is a douchbag asking to be punch in the face.
So here I am with Uncharted 2 - picked it up yesterday. Nice to see it is still in the old cover (with the words Playstation 3 written down the side) as the new one looks craptastic. Played about 3.5 hours worth yesterday, and so far:
I'm liking it - definitely more positive opinion of it than the first one. The first level was a cracker, my positivness died down a bit when it got to the Turkish museum stealth level (that fountain part was annoying! repeated it so many times) but it picked up a lot when it started to get to the Nepal level.
Visually - I say it looks a lot better than the first one - a lot of new environments and scenes - again the Nepal level looked abosutely stunning! And generally the textures and character models look a bit sharper.
I have also tried the multiplayer and honestly - it is fun. Does feel right in this game, feels like playing Red Faction Guerilla. Problem is, it is best when theres local players. Since I'm in Australia, I was matchmaked (which I think is broken) with European players who were no way in my level of skills - they were, apart for one, all pros! That said, it was still fun.
Gonna play more today on single and multi - but initial impression score - 8.5/10

So yeah, need to do something about my PSN list. Negected for so long, plus I'm bored.
Want me to add you? send me you PSN ID or I add you.
For aussies only! I no longer want to deal with stupid overseas people sending me inaudible voice clips making dumb noises or requesting for something stupid.

Yeah I've had it with this place - constant modding for saying nothing harmless, broken forum coding and a boring forum with new people always posting the same topic over and over.
And now that I'm free at Freek's new forum - there is no reason for me to remain here. I'm a mod and head of anime / manga sub-forum, so it tons better there!
I'm thinking of leaving GS, putting all my efforts there and into another blog (resurrect my failed WordPress blog), but thinking if it's right.

Got ODST on launch and about 4 days later I have finished the campaign on normal (not good enough to play anything higher
)Overall, brilliant game, loved it, epic fun from start to finish.
The re-worked pacing of the game is definitely a star. I like how Rookie is in the city exploring the area and looking for clue to his other ODST team mates. Finding a significant item of a person will then cut away and move the story to that person's perspective. I thought it was great, developing the back story and recount what happened. While you're not playing the recounted stories, the entire New Mombasa city is free to explore how ever you want as the Rookie looking for collectables - I need to find those audio logs

Like the story as well, although it's not much, at least Bungie did put a lot of effort in trying to make it engaging. Soundtrack is a huge plus, brilliant music and sound design accompanying the situation or moment.
Only real complaint - the damage indicator is too intrusive (covers too much of the screen) and the red is not that transparent, making taking damage a really annoying thing.
I don't know what Halo Reach will be like (not do I like if it's an RTS/FPS/RPG/whatever) but I'm sure going to get it.
Halo 3 ODST - 8.5/10 game for me.

So Animania for 2009 here in Sydney is done and dusted for me, here is recount of how the day unfolded:
This was my first Animania I was going to attend, and the first anime and manga culture festival I was ever to attend. I barely got sleep the night before and was up and beaming with energy real early in the morning, prepping all the stuff needed for the day.It was 8:34AM at my local train station and 9:30AM when I got to Redfern station in the Sydney CBD. On the way to Redfern, with each station stop, there were more and more people getting onboard with cosplay outfits, I knew for sure that Animania was having a big influence here in Australia, but the sheer number of anime and manga fans was going to shock me.

The signs outside Animania 2009 SydneyA short walk from the station to the Australian Technology Park where the event was being held. A huge queue was already present to my surprise! There was already about 800-1000 people at the time! I thought my hope of getting passed the front doors was impossible even with a pre-purchased ticket!

The queue in the morning!
Even more queuing!
During the waiting game, as I walked along the queue, there was a large number of people cosplaying. An unexpected number really! There was about 1/3 of the people there in cosplays with some ranging from simple Japanese yukatas, sailor girl school uniforms and clothing from popular animes to very elaborate designs that no doubt must have taken a lot of time and effort in making them. I was happy during the search that one group of girls took up a Lucky Star group cosplay sans Miyuki for some reason! Out of the girls cosplaying Lucky Star, no doubt Akira was the best one. Other impressive works included a small group doing Ouran High, one dressed as a female student and another one as Honey-senpai and other one unsure, but it was no doubt really impressive.
Great Akira cosplay from Lucky Star!
Cosplays from different animes - can you name them?
Awesome Ouran Host High cosplay!
LOL! nuff said! It's God!
A funny thing happened during the waiting time, apparently there was one mega queue but organisers then came out and with megaphones told us all that two queues have to formed - one pre-purchased and one buying tickets. The ones without tickets made a mad rush to the front of the other line while those like me who pre-purchased just simply walked
More time passed when finally 10AM came and the doors were opened! It wasn't until a further 45 minutes waiting in the line before I managed to walk into the actual Animania area. During the wait though, the Animania staff were around entertaining and pumping people up, but not much people were in the mood to be shouting and cheering - they, like me, wanted in!
Second last bit of queuing
Finally the main foyer but more queuing
Finally, around 10:45AM I got my ticket scanned, entry wrist strap attached and was inside Animania! First slight when walking in was black walls but behind them held a world of craziness.
I'm in! Animania start here for me!
Immediately to the right were game areas set up. The games included Street Fighter 4 on PS3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii, Soul Caliber on PS2, Mario Kart Wii, Rayman Raving Rabbids on Wii and a Naruto Jap game on GameCube.
Some Street Fighter 4 action on the PS3
Some Mario Kart Wii action on the Wii
Some Super Smash Bros. Brawl action on the Wii
Some Jap Naruto game on the GameCube
Rayman Raving Rabbids on the Wii - yes I accident took a photo during the status screen
Behind the games area held the busiest place in the whole of Animania - the stalls! Stalls of every kind was there selling all kinds of different goods. Shirts, pillows, jewellery, figurines, DVDs, mangas, doujinshi, fan-art, clothing and much more from Australia's respected businesses such as Anime Excess and Madman were there with the inclusion of the small club groups such as the anime club from UNSW. I frantically went from store to store looking for the best items to get with my $300 budget hoping that no-one else picks up something that I want! I could tell at the time though that some item's prices were no doubt jacked up for the day so that stall managers could make an extra buck with us fans desperately wanting goods, but certain items were of bargain. I managed to bargain with a few of the store owners for discounts - overall saving about $60 in total from the day - and of course, to my surprise, one of my friend was working at a stall! I was expecting him at Animania without question (he is a massive anime and manga fan) but not as a staff. With some reasoning with him and without him telling his manager, I got my Lucky Star hard covered book for half price (thanks AJ!!). I picked up most of the the stuff I wanted plus all the gifts for all my internet buddies
- hope you will be happy guys!
The stalls! An anime/manga fan's heaven!
Madman Entertainment's impressive stall here!
The Anime club from UNSW own stall selling fan-art and other goodies!
Yes, you can pay for a custom drawing of anything, including you! They look good BTW
Fan drawn glossy posters and Touhou Project doujinshi!
To the left of the stores were some displays. Previous cosplay costumes were on display and many were works of art, meticulously designed and without question huge amounts of effort and dedication. A cosplay human chess game was held next to it, with people in cosplays acting as chess pieces on the board. A great game to watch with the cosplayers hilariously acting out killing techniques on other people on the board!
Previous cosplay costumes - damn they look good!
Don't know what it is, but it may be a costume prop
It's hard to see, but it is human chess, with cosplayers! And yes, Solid Snake in a cardboard box is playing!
Next to the human chess board was an arts and crafts section, Origami and drawings were the main things here. People could sit down and make things out of craft paper or draw on paper in hoping that their drawings are good enough to go onto the wall. A great area for the young Japanese culture fan. Along side it were people actually drawing out pages for a manga and a wall where people could scribble on with their names, quotes, messages or something stupid - like a YouTube page link

People getting to some arts and craft - including the staff
Animania's writing wall - write what you want! Even a YouTube link
Next to arts and craft was the food stalls. A few Japanese foods were here. Stir fried noodles, cold bubble tea drinks, takoyaki (octopus deep fried dumplings) and a french bakery feeding the hungry people of Animania. It's a shame that I didn't happen to find any times to eat any of the food during my time there, I really wanted to try takoyaki
- oh wells, next time!
The takoyaki stall - shame I didn't try some

Fried noodles and other nibbles - my friend said it was a rip-off for fried noodles and a kebab stick
Next to the food stalls with a game of Twisters. Eh, nothing special, unless it's a huge Twisters board! It really did look like 12 Twisters mats taped together and a large number of people on it in weird and awkward positions! Again, I didn't join in unless it was all hot girls

Epic twister action! I feel sorry for the guy there...
Close to the massive Twister board was a karaoke section - people could come in and sing and competitions were being held for the best singer. I didn't stay there long as I really wasn't prepared to have my ear drums blasted with bad singing

Karaoke - some good singers, some ... interesting
Lastly - the main stage! This was where the action was happening! Debates among the anime and manga industry's leading figures discussing issues today and sometimes debating about silly topics. Drawing contest was also held featuring a panel of some of the best drawers, again, drawers were asked to draw odd and funny things like a 'catbus' to an manga drawn Mr. Squiggles! During the breaks, anime episodes were being aired, mainly from Cromartie High School, an anime that I never considered to watch but seeing the episodes from Animania, it looks like a great watch (don't let the anime's box cover deceive you, it's actually a comedy similar to School Rumble!) plus also a mysterious appearence of 'Mario Kart Stig'!! Yes, you better believe it! Lastly, on stage, the WCS 2009 or World Cosplay Summit preliminaries were held. Cosplayers came up on stage, told us on how the costume was made and a catwalk for the public to take a million pictures - sadly, my beloved Lucky Star cosplays were mediocre at best. The best one coming from the Kingdom Hearts 2 Nightmare Crawlers who put up a brilliant show! Tomorrow Sunday will be the finals for this competition.
Drawing contest with some of the best drawing in Australia - at least, that's what has been claimed...
Yes that is Mario Kart Stig there!
There was two other places at Animania that I sadly didn't get to visit - the screening room with upcoming and previous anime movies and the chibi stage, a smaller version of the main stage were I think were airing episodes of Ouran Host High.
Of course, where ever you went, cosplays! All around the place, black walls were in place for photographies. Cosplays of all different animes, games, mangas, Japanese culture, you name it, were there! It was good to see a large number of good looking girls in good looking cosplay. If only my little sister's digital camera didn't die on me
- I had a chance to take a lot of awesome cosplay pictures. Hopefully, you will be satisfied with what ever I managed to take.
So here is all the pictures I managed to take relating to cosplay before both my digital camera and phone died:

Finally - 4PM came over and it was time to take my leave. Animania, although a great time for me did start to lose its buzz and people were leaving in large numbers due to lack of new and fresh activity or events on the main stage. Walking out to the train station with my friends with bags of goods, I felt great and love my 4-5 hours at Animania. I hope to return in the future with more to expect and more to get!
Bye bye to Animania 2009 Sydney!Any criticism? Well ...
- Firstly the pricing of the ticket could be lower, I mean $37 was quite a hard pill to swallow, a price like $25 would be much more reasonable.
- Weird thing but not even one sighting of a Hayate Combat Butler item! WTF?! Isn't it popular here?!
- My stupidity of not buying a proper digital camera before hand

Other than that, not really, I liked Animania a lot.
Oh yeah, what about my stuff? Of course I wouldn't leave empty handed:
- Lucky Star Hiiragi Kagami box for $50 - full of random things like a CD-ROM with wallpapers and games, a mini figuarine, and probably an art book
- Lucky Star hard cover book for $40 but paid $20 - art book supposebly with a DVD inside, cool! - and again, thanks AJ for giving this to me half price! I hope the manager didn't find out

- Vocaloid keyring for $3 - Hatsune Miku!!!!!
- Lucky Star fan-art bookmark-like plastic card for $2 - I really don't know what it is but, eh.
------------------------------
Hope you enjoy this blog of me at Animania Sydney 2009 - photos and videos from the event are being uploaded and all my friends on with gift, expect a PM from me soon
Bye!(NOTE - the photos above have been taken by me and all are people I do not know - I thank them for their permission to take their photos and hopefully are fine with me hosting it up on my GSAU blog. So Animania, to my surprise, is to be this Saturday 5th here in Sydney.
Not knowing this, I haven't done any sort of prep in terms of funds for the day. However, all seems to be good now and I have a decent amount of funds, although I don't think I will be eating properly for the next 2-3 weeks due my extreme measures to get money

The load-down:
- Animania Saturday is what I have booked - yes, decided to play it safe and book my ticket to the event in advance. It cost an extra $2 compared to queuing up and buying it on the day ($37 vs $35), but the problem, the queue! What I heard, the line can be super long on Saturday and I don't want to risk wasting time in a bloody queue! I want to be in there 10AM sharp!
- Funds - initially, the date for Animania stunned me cause as said, I made no prep. That said, in the last day, I managed to get a decent amount of money from general pocket money, up to a nice paycheck of $400. I have decided to allocate about $250 - $300 for the day. It will be nice if I was rich I could go on a spending spree, but I ain't rich. Bills, uni and just day-to-day stuff are more important.
- What to do and see? Well, there's a large range of stuff at Animania. Mainly, of couse, browsing and checking out the vendors is a must (I do hope though that the prices aren't jacked up super high just for the event) but some other stuff I might be interested in:
- Game Zone - a chance to play the latest and popular Japanese games - I don't know much about Jap based games, but it will be interesting to see.
- Main stage events - includes cosplays, WCS preliminaries, debates, dance demos, and more.
- Screening theatre - watch some popular past and upcoming anime movie releases.
- Cosplay HQ - I may have my eyes burned, but I'm hoping there is the occasional hot girl in there
- Food Fair - tastes of Japan, expect the staples of yakisoba and takoyaki.
- Lucky Star goods - if they don't have Lucky Star stuff, then Animania will be the biggest load of fail EVER!! However, with LS popularity, it's most likey there will be stuff there.
More details can be found from - http://animania.net.au/2009/sydney-september/whats-on
- Cosplaying - no, no, no. I'm going as a normal dressed person, as for one of my friends (who is, a billion times huger fan of anime and manga than me) I think he will most likely cosplay *shudders*
- Gifts - well, Mattyrock was kind to get me something from Manifest, so I will be repaying him with a gift as well. Other people on my list for gifts from Animania include of course Turbo-Evil, mystic_knight, freek666, Sphire, barkera0 and dynam3. Sorry if you are not included and would love a gift! These are my current list of people I would love to give something from the day, maybe next time
- BTW guys, if you want to PM me with list of favourite animes you would like merchandise from, do it soon! - What to expect from me? Well, pictures of course, taking my little sister's digital cam out (cause my phone's puny 2MP camera ain't gonna cut it) and hopefully videos on YouTube from the event. Also, a post-Animania blog (expect that to be on Sunday, unless I go Sunday as well
)
That's it for now! Bring on Saturday!!

So got Snow Leopard today, never knew it was release this early!
Got all my files backed up, and after a gruelling 2 hour process (because I though I did something wrong
), I have Snow Leopard!Visually on the outside, you will not see a difference, that's because the majority of Snow Leopard's work was undercover, deep in the codes of the programs and the operating system to bring native 64-bit support, OpenCL, Exchange support, and Grand Central Dispatch (some new technology that takes advantage of multi-core CPUs)
Is it better? Speed wise, some things were faster, some just felt the same. I have encoutered a few bumps such as the brilliant utility of QuickSilver not working properly - even though there is a beta build for SL, it's really buggy, and the odd missing feature here and there but fixed them easily.
So far, for $39 Australian, it's a great buy, and must have for all Intel Mac users (PowerPC is finally dead to Apple!), and with such a price, why wouldn't you?
Anyways, pictures, and uploading an unboxing video to YouTube, see ya!

So yet another Sony secret leaked months before the official announcement - the PS3 Slim. So my opinion:
- Personally, it's looks fugly - especially the new PS3 logo on the top. Why can't the old Spiderman logo or the text 'Playstation 3' be printed on the top like before?
- A matte black finish? Like the DSi? Well, it would prevent fingerprints and smudges and scratches, so that's a plus
- For the Australian price of $499 - it still sound expensive, $399 AUD - now that would be impressive and indeed a good buy.
- Are they still including a normal A/V composite cable? Isn't it the HD era now? Can't they also include / replace it with at least a component cable?
- Can't they also include a small basic remote control for the Blu-Ray and movie stuff? Can't be that more expensive.
Along with this, apparently PS3 firmware 3.0 is also coming out. Nothing much of importance, but an avatar system. Yes, Sony has join onboard. Unless I can create a Kagami, I'm not interested.
So overall - a new PS3, I guess the slimness and hopefully lower weight means that taking it to friends parties for Singstar will be easier (*sigh and facepalm* - damn Singstar)

Yeah, but the stuff there is damn awesome! Expensive, yes, but still awesome!
Purchased:
- Recessionista cargo jacket with vest and shirt - awesome clothing, looks exactly like the stuff I would wear.
- Guitar - if only there was a drum kit, but electric guitar is just as awesome.
Also changed the shoes and added gloves. I like my new threads and look

Buying virtual items for virtual characters, it's a sad reality, but hey, mostly everything on console these days are micro-transactions.
(Only got a camera photo since the direct MS link won't show the guitar for some reason)

Yeah you heard me right, second worst game ever played.
I was hoping for something different, instead it's just a pretty Killzone 1, nice graphics (actually, it ain't that great looking) but with the same crap gameplay, story, AI behaviour and repetitiveness.
Why do they think so many damn enemies on screen at once that take forever to kill would be fun? I've spent more time in cover than actually moving.
AI behaviour was a killer for me in the first game - no different here, instead of nade spamming, they RPG spam all day. Plus shooting an enemy is horrible, they twitch and suddenly teleport about 2 feet away, added with the fact that they absorb bullets like a freaking tank, and all enemies are apparently suicidal (they just run up at me hoping to melee - yeah, do something smarter than)
Story line - bland, dull, plus all the descriptive words for crap. Wwwwwoooooowwwww, the Helghast stole nukes?! *gasps* - thanks for suddenly telling me in the stupid loading screen, you could have told me at the beginning of the game. Ending of the game - frustrating, just wave upon waves of enemy then kill a super annoying boss.
Gameplay - all weapons besides the electricity gun and the heavy machine gun are crap - reload takes a billion years. Boring progression, walk shoot walk shoot press this walk shoot, it just goes on.
Graphics - nice, but really, it's not WOW! impressive, it's was a 'meh' to me. I would impress if it was the E3 trailer quality, but not in this case.
Multiplayer - I wasn't planning to try it, but I was requested to try it just a bit, and to be honest, it has it's moments of being fun, but after 20 minutes, I got really bored. So that means, multiplayer sucks.
---------------------------------
Overall - crap game to a crap sequel in a crap series - 5.5/10 (yes, I rate this game lower than X-Blades!)
---------------------------------
Yeah go ahead and flame, or argue that what I said is no different to what's in CoD4 or Halo - but at least those games are interesting and keeps you entertained. I wasn't a lick entertained in Killzone 2.
Alright, I'm done, leave you abusive rants in the comments. I'm done with this game. Tomorrow, going to EB to get a refund on this game.

So I got Killzone 2 today, and since my disappointment from the first game (which I have officially named my worst game ever played) - I am hoping that the sequel will do better.
So far, I finished one level, and really, it's dull. It's just shooting with pretty graphics. That's right, just started and I'm bagging the game already, and damn it, why do developers for PS3 must they shoehorn some crappy motion sensing gameplay in everything, turning that bloody wheel took too long and the damn instructions were bogus!
Ain't going to bother with multiplayer, I got better MP games to play.
Alright, I'll leave the rant there.

Wow, so much for Sony's answer to Halo - boy does this game suck.
Picked it up today for fun and to play before Killzone 2 (even if the games aren't related) and it's doesn't even touch Halo by a mile.
Gameplay is awkward (takes half a clip to kill someone), the movement is either too slow or too fast, the sniper is a joke in terms of control, and the sound and graphics are unimpressive (even if it is a PS2 game) and the annoying fact that going to the menu or objective list takes time, why?! it should be instant!
Further more, the campaign is confusing and bland. It kind of feels like playing the first Red Faction game but at least they did the basic FPS gameplay right.
I don't know if I can put myself through anymore - but Valkyria Chronicles is carving my a$$ up in terms of difficulty so I guess I have to finish it, otherwise I will have no other games to play on PS3.

EDIT 1st Aug - finished playing the game, and yep, still hate it, definitively worst game ever played. Crap gameplay, guns as powerful as water guns plus enemies as strong as tanks, repetitive levels and environments, bland characters, annoying smug villian, horrible and glitchy graphics, and billions of bugs and glitches. Don't play it at all.

Enough said - stupid chapter 4! Took me about 6 retries to get that. Now I read in a walkthrough that chapter 7 is even worse and extremely difficult!
However, I am liking the game - but I wish the difficulty curve wasn't so whacked...
UPDATE - Yeah I going to use a walkthrough, I can't be bothered thinking up strategies and tactics, this game is FAR TOO HARD for the average player. It's a shame cause it's really fun but I wish they didn't make it so unfair to the player. I mean, honestly, would you send in 9 units to fight a huge army and you have to grind to make them better? Yeah, I reaffirm my hate for RPGs.

Stupid BlazBlue! Why you region lock on 360?!!
Oh wells, thanks to you, I had to get myself another PS3!
But this time, it's better than my first 40GB model - I managed to score a 60GB launch for $500 AUD ($800 original purchase price but that includes 6 games and second controller)
So finally, Valkryia Chronicles, Blazblue and maybe Killzone and inFamous - here I come again!
