    Manhunt 2 [PS2]

The sequel to one of my favorite PlayStation 2 games. Manhunt was a tense stealth game with a good storyline that led to some pretty freaky and grusome moments. I was excited for Manhunt 2 to give me more of the same. It was not a bad game, but it wasn't as good a Manhunt. It had a decent story that kind of justified the gore, but I figured out the twist about 2/3 of the way through and the game lost a little bit for me then. I had pretty much been playing through to find out what was going to happen next. I did like the bonus level at the end where the twist comes back to haunt you.

There were a few frustrating things in this game that bring it down for me though, such as at the end of one stage I would have an arsenal of weapons and for no reason would lose them for the start of the next stage. Also, they took away the cool shotgun-blast-from-around-a-corner trick I used so much in the first Manhunt. A lot more gun play in this one as well. Stealth weapons seemed few a far between on some stages. I won't say Manhunt 2 was a bad game, but if I was going to play one of them through again I'm going back Piggy and the original Manhunt.

    Portal [PC]

There is no cake. The cake is a lie. I had been interested in playing Portal ever since the Orange Box was released, but didn't want to have to buy the other games included, so I was finally able to get my hands on it when they released it unbundled. The idea behind the game is great for its simplicity. The way it gradually teaches you all the lessons you'll need to eventually complete the game is masterful. GLaDOS is one of the most humorous and entertaining characters I have encountered in a long time. She is an instant classic. I also love how Valve tied Portal to Half-Life by making Apeture a competitor of Black Mesa. Overall, the puzzle solving adventures of Chell should be played by all, unless you are adopted or have no friends. Until then, I will keep working on the advanced maps.

God of War: Chains of Olympus [PSP]

The handheld prequel to the God of War trilogy (or what will eventually be). I own quite a few PlayStation Portable games, and this is by far the best one (although Patapon is pretty fun). If there were more games as good as Chains of Olympus, the PSP would probably be selling a lot better in North America and Europe. The game is great. For a God of War game, it played exactly like it does on the PS2. Other than the small screen, I couldn't really tell the difference. The Gauntlet of Zeus pwns. In the whole series, it seems to be the only weapon I've wanted to use other than the Blades of Chaos. I hope it makes it into God of War III. Overall, I wouldn't say go out an buy a PSP just to play Chains of Olympus, but if you are thinking about getting one already or own one now, this is a game that must be in your collection. I might have to get the red Kratos PSP when it hits retail now.
