Final bosses...Too easy, or just plain retarded?

So yeah, I'm pretty much just glaring at the words "Dark Cloud" looming on my Now Playing list, which I keep all the games in my Collection that I've yet to beat on. Yeah, I haven't beaten Dark Cloud. It's an easy as hell game (though the sequel is better and more difficult) with gimmicks that merely force it into being so irritating that it's an immitation hard.

Don't get me wrong, DC is a great series! But the first game had so many gimmicks (come on, a thirst meter that makes you lose health unless you "drink" water-like items? Ugh.) it just wasn't up to the standard of fun the sequel was!

Now, in DC one there are 6 characters. Toan, the main dude. And 5 other people you'll never use except for getting past certain obstacles and on "Trapped" dungeon floors where you're stuck using one person other than Toan, without the possibility of switching. The problem is, characters don't level up in the game, weapons do. And weapons are specific to each character (Toan uses a dagger, Ruby uses magic rings and so on.) so basically, Toan will be uber by the end-boss, but everyone else will be weaker than a kitten on morphine.

The problem is, like many "original" game bosses nowadays, the final boss has multiple forms. The first, he attacks with his hands. Due to a glaring bug, characters such as Goro and Toan are invinsible while using their charge attacks/strikes, so using Toan you can easily beat the hands without any damage being taken. But the guy also uses an attack that CANNOT be avoided no matter what.

Stage 2, the hands don't do anything. No target? Aim for the head. The problem? The boss is in the middle of a "wall" dividing the arena. The wall, is a 1-foot high rock piece that no character can move over, so you can't get near the boss and slash 'im up. So, onto ranged attacks! The problem? Toan, the only strong character (Goro's good too, as you can easily find Final Judgement, a weapon of his with 99 attack in the final dungeon) has no ranged attacks.

More specifically, only Xiao, Ruby, and Osmond do. Xiao uses slingshots, and at my point, only does 24 average damage to enemies, and like 1-7 on the final boss. Ruby, uses magic rings and spells, and does roughly 30-60 damage on the final boss, my strongest ranged-attack user. But c'mon, we ALL know that the boss probably has HP in the thousands, so that won't work at ALL. Need to train her weapons...That'll take me a few MONTHS to get them strong enough.
Oh, and Osmond. You get him in the second last dungeon, so you have the least chance to train him. He has a machine gun. Yay. Each shot does 1 damage.

    Screw you Osmond.

Anyway, now you know why Dark Cloud is awesome. Well, I guess you don't. But it is. Until you get to the final boss.
