    BioShock is Incredible

It's been almost 2 years since I've put anything on this blog if one can still call it that but I just played the BioShock demo on XBL and I can't remember the last time I was so awestruck. Creepy and intense the whole way. It's a pretty sizable demo too. I could easily spend over an hour just testing out the physics. The graphics are have a nice glow to them thanks to the Unreal Engine 3. It makes real good use of water effects, which makes sense since its a whole freaking city under water. The start of the game was so seamless that I just sat there looking at the fire on the water for a bit before it told me to use the LS(left stick) to move. I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't played the demo here but if you have access to a 360 somewhere, play this demo.

I think I will be about $60 poorer come August 21

    My NEW PSP Case!

Ladies and gentlemen! In the blue corner to my right...coming from my local GameStop store around the corner by way of Sony...weighing in at 280 grams, introducing the Sony PlayStation Portable. And to my left in the Red corner...all the way from Hong Kong brought to me by YesAsia.com...coming in a UPS box weighing in at 1.5 lbs...introducing the Capdase Luxury PSP Hard Case.

A great if not perfect match.

It's an aluminum case double hinged at the top to allow for the case lid to open up fully and fold back behind the PSP if you wanted it to. The top is painted anodized aluminum and the bottom half exterior is coated with a thin layer of a very fine smooth rubber I think it is. Whatever it is, its very nice to touch.

The case has openings for all the ports speakers and switches. The USB is covered by the hinge when closed so you have to open the lid up to plug a USB cable in. The back side has a trap door to allow you to change UMD's without taking the PSP out of the case.

As an added bonus, you can open both the top lid and the UMD trapdoor, and then interlock them to turn the case into a desktop stand to prop up the PSP for watching movies. COOL!

The case adds very little thickness or heft. The end result is a smooth(literally) no more than 1 inch thick thing of beauty.

I also threw in a Capdase Deluxe UMD Protective case so I could have enough for free shipping.

    Office Space F.E.A.R.

The pic above was made from a screenshot that I took while playing F.E.A.R. which is an awesome game BTW. I was running around through one of the many office buildings in the game when something caught my eye. It was bright red. It wasn't blood because there was too little of it here and this game usually throws buckets of it on to the environment. It was a red stapler.

"That's strange...," I thought to myself. So I came in for a closer look and noticed some writing on the piece of paper next to the stapler. It says along the top, "T.P.S. REPORT."

It seems that the talented crew of Monolith were fans of more than just Japanese horror flicks. This gave me a much needed moment of comic relief because this game is freaky to play, especially at night.

Which leads me to my next topic and reason why I can now only play my video games at night. W.O.R.K. After spending the past summer months since graduation on my ass at home doing nothing but gaming and TV, I got a job. A combination of my microscopic bank account balance and pressure from my family forced me to look harder for a job.

At first I was scared(hence the title of this post) that I wouldn't be able to do the job or even just get past the interview, but it turns out that the place needed people with some programming background to come in ASAP and help them. It's been 3 weeks for me so far and I'm still in training since they're already busy enough.

Oh well, waking up at 6:30 and coming home at 6:30(with traffic) isn't all bad considering my parents are happy now and I have money to buy every game that I've even considered playing. The only downside is that I don't have as much time as before for those games and GameSpot.

I can't watch On The Spot live anymore and my contributions as an officer of the PSP Union may slow down. Any of you PSP Union recruits reading this better be sure to thank TranMan, Reddsk, bjscott, the rest of the officers and your 1700+ fellow recruits for keeping the PSP Union above water.

    'til next time.
