All About Stavr0s

Meh, I'm not too big on writing about myself, it just seems kinda weird, but I guess I'll do it just for the heck of it. . .So read if you want, talk to me if you want, too. Either way. . .

    OMG, lol. . .

So, at the dance last night we could recommend music. Naturally I requested Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You UP.

WE RICKROLLED THE ENTIRE F'ING DANCE. IT WAS AMAZING. Me and my friends are going to go to every dance just to do the same. It WILL become a new tradition.

    Dances and such

Isn't it funny how there's no 'life' category?

Meh, so I just spent twenty minute straightening my hair, only to realize that I had to change shirts (MOTHER). . .

That aside, my hair's fine, lol.

Incase you're wondering WHY I'm straightening my hair, there's the Homecoming dance tonight, and I'm hoping on getting some. No, really, I just like to look good, and feel that I look better with straight hair.

So yeah, LBP was fun, too bad it ends tonight (that's a good song, imo).

That's about it for my life, not that you, my imagenary audiance, cares. I'll report on how the dance goes, if it's favorable. If not, I may still, dunno yet.

Oh yeah, BIG news about SGU, just wait a few more days. It's coming soon.

More Textures Makes for a Better Game?

It's been a growing trend ever since the Xbox 360 was first unveiled. Developers seem to think that if they can slap together twenty different textures and bit mappings onto every little thing, the game will sell like gold even if it is a steaming pile of. . .well you know.

Why is it so hard to see the fault in this? Look at a game like Doom 3, for instance. The game doesn't introduce anything new to the first-person-shooter genre, the only thing it really has to go by is the Doom title and somewhat dated, but still adequate, graphics. As far as I know, the game didn't sell well, or at least, as well as ID would've hoped. I'm sure it didn't draw in many new players.

Gears of War was a little different, however. The game was at least somewhat fresh, and chainsawing the Locust is a lot of fun. That's the ultimate factor, the gameplay. NOT the graphics.

Think back to the days of yesteryear, when games were anywhere between 8 and 32 bits. They couldn't go by graphics, the developers had to differentiate themselves from everyone else by innovating their games, otherwise the game would sell poorly, and the company would go bankrupt.

This epidemic must be stopped before it gets anymore out of hand. Developers need to realize that they can't get by with this sort of thing once people get bored with their games after a good week.

"Hard to describe" I'll try not to ruin anything, but the game is hard to describe. You'll see what I mean, if I can get the words down. Continue »
