My obsession with Super Stardust HD continues. I'm almost thinking about seeking proffesional help to get rid of my addiction, but I can't, it's too much fun.
And today is an extra happy day for me. I now have two world-records, on the planets of Coventina and Taranis. I'm especially proud of the Coventina record, since I'm the only player EVER who's reached past 21 million points. WOOHOO!!! that's all I can say. I don't know why, but those two planets are the ones where you have to use the games fire weapon, the Gold Melter the most, so I guess that I have a special bond with the swirling flames produced by my tiny ship. That must make me "The God of Hellfire"... or "The God of Goldmelting"... Well, that's enough, now I have to go back to playing some more SSHD.
It's been over two months since I put up a post on my GS blog. The reason is that I've been too busy with my PS3. I have to admit, I have become a fanatic and the reason is Super Stardust HD. I wan't to be the "global number one" and I'm not far from being so. My scores are as follows... (in planet mode, I don't have the patience for Arcade mode)
LAVE:
1st. TLO-mek; 14 500 220
2nd. Somini82 (that's me) 13 741 905
3rd. UpsideDownFace; 13 659 425
COVENTINA:
1st. TLO-mek; 20 711 705
2nd. Somini82; 20 538 535
3rd. Darkwaternights; 19 775 600... (I'm so close to beating TLO-mek on Coventina)
NEMAIN:
1st. TLO-mek; 22 699 080
2nd. UpsideDownFace; 22 441 650
3rd. Somini82; 21 186 525 (I know that I can beat TLO-mek on Nemain, I had a session yesterday that would have given me roughly 23 million points, but I got so nervous at the end that I died)
TARANIS:
1st. TLO-mek; 26 507 915
2nd. Somini82; 26 129 775
3rd. UpsideDownFace; 25 129 940
SEGOMO:
1st. TLO-mek; 26 683 660
2nd. UpsideDownFace; 25 558 930
3rd. Grayzy; 24 395 110
(4th. Somini82; 23 931 765)
Soon, I'll beat TLO-mek (that finnish bastard, lol) on at least one or two planets. It's very nice to see a finnish and a swedish flag at the top of three out of five planets (since I'm half-swedish and half-finnish), but I really wan't my swedish flag to be number one. How nice wouldn't it to be to say that I actually am the best in the world at something? It may sound ridiculous, but my goal in life at the moment is to be the best player in the world when it comes to Super Stardust HD. On a side note, I have to say that SSHD is the most priceworthy (not the best) game that I've ever played, it cost me 70 SEK (About 8-9 $) and I've played it for approx. 120 hours. If that isn't priceworthy, I don't know what is.
This is my first blog post in 6 months or something. I've neglected GS for a loooong time now, but it's not because I don't like games anymore, or even worse, have become a grownup, or something like that, it's just that I work all summer and have vacation all winter, so now I can go back to doing "unnecessary" things like playing games all day.
The best thing that has happened to me lately is that I now am the proud father of a PS3 and a Sony Bravia 40" LCD TV, with 1080p capability. Those two things are the best products that I've ever bought, even though it made a very deep hole in my wallet. I'm really impressed by the PS3, it does almost everything that I want a multi-media device to do.
The strange thing though, is that I haven't fallen in love with any game on the PS3 yet, or to be more honest, I haven't liked any full-price game yet, but I do really like some of the games that are available on the PS Store. My absolute favourite is Super Stardust HD, it's almost like I have a psychosis on that game, my goal is to be among the top ten in the world, but right now I have almost 200 people in front of me on the international scoreboard. Besides Super Stardust HD, I also love flOw and the recently downloaded Feel Ski. I find the games that are solely based on the Six-axis' motion sensitivity to be really awesome. IMO, the six-axis is actually much more fun and intiutive than the Wii-mote, when it comes to motion control. I don't want to sound to much like a Sony fanboy, but I really, REALLY like what Sony has accomplished this generation.
Blah, blah, blah, I'm just raving on, but all I wanted to was to do a blog post, saying that I'm active on GS again It's nice to be back on this wonderful site!
I bought C&C3: Tiberium Wars three days ago and damn, that's one nice game. I would probably rate it as one of the best games I've played in a while. I didn't think that it would be too good since Westwood is out of the picture, but I was so wrong. For once, EA has actually done a great job and that isn't a small comment coming from me, since I hate EA in general, but I'm so glad to see that they have made a superb game, because that is what C&C3 is, it's absolutely awesome.
I just wanted to recommend C&C3 to anyone who either has a great PC or a 360, it's a fantastic game. I love it. I don't know how well the controls work for the 360, but I've heard that it's the best RTS controls for a console ever, so for all of you 360 gamers, even you should get this game.
I can't even believe that I'm saying these things, I actually hate EA, but I couldn't resist a game that seemed as good as C&C3, I've actually been boycotting EA for two years now, but that was unreasonable since I wanted to get this game, just as well as Crysis, which is going to be published by EA, so it's impossible for me to boycott them.
I guess I'll show some love for EA again, just hoping that they keep up the good work.
I started to play four "new" games today, that must be a personal record. I went on a shopping spree with my 10 year old nephew and came home with a new cellphone, a bunch of new clothes and four new games. Shopping always feels good when I'm doing it but afterwards it feels bad, thinking about how much money I've spent (god, that sounds so "girly")
. I bought Prince of Persia: Rival Swords for the Wii and it was a pleasant surprise, I think that the Wii controls work perfectly for PoP. I also bought Prey and even though I've only played it for 1-2 hours today, I really liked it. I also bought Killer 7, because it was really cheap, but OMG that game seems really weird, I don't know if it's good or bad, but it's just so weird.
Another thing was really funny. I had read a Swedish videogame magazine the other that listed the top 100 games of all time and I saw Fallout 2 at a really high spot and then I thought that I just had to play it, because I've never played a Fallout game before (and I call myself a gamer, geez). Yesterday I asked my brother if he had it, becuase he's a really big fan of old-school RPG's and what did he say? "No, I don't have it, but I'm actually downloading it on my computer at home right now". What are the odds of him downloading it just at the same time that I asked him about it? It was such an odd coincidence and both of us lol'd at it, but I was happy, because he came by with the game today, so I've been playing some Fallout 2 today as well. I can't complain.
At more than just a few times, I've been accused of being a Sony fanboy here at GS and I can see why, but it is a fact that I'm a strong supporter of all the big three, BUT it is most likely that I'll never own a 360... and why is that? If anything, that statement sounds really fanboyish, but I've my reasons for not wanting a 360.
Microsoft, I really don't want to support them when it comes to consoles and it has nothing to do with hatred. I play games on PC, Playstations and Nintendo consoles. IMHO I think that PC-gaming's well enough supports MS. Should I use two MS platforms? Both the PC (Windows) and the 360? I don't think so, becuase that disturbes my sense of balance. I try to support all the big three equally, I even keep a "gaming equality diary", which means that I try to spend an equal amount of money on products from MS as well as Sony and Nintendo. Off course, I know that every product sold to PC's doesn't go straight down into MS's pockets, just as well as every product sold to the other systems doesn't do the same, but my point is that I actually try to show all equal love. If I've spent $500 on PS2 games one month, then I try to spread my money on Ninty or PC products the next, and so on.
I just love the competition between the big three and I hope that it will be a really tight race this generation, but I think that people should realise that Microsoft actually have two entirely different platforms on the market, Windows and 360 (OK, Sony has both the PS2 and PS3 at the same time), but my point is that MS pretty much owns the PC market in such a monumental way that I think that it's well enough to support them in PC gaming (windows). I feel that if I would buy a 360, then I would just get another gaming PC, but it would just be compatible with my TV and it couldn't do all the great stuff that my PC can do.
My point is that I will most likely never own a 360, but that doesn't make me a MS hater. MS's doing a lot of great things (just as well as bad) and Sony and Ninty are just as bad, or good, depending on how you might see it. All the big three are doing stuff that are making us happy. Hatred is wrong. Love is right.
