My son the 10 year old prodigy psychologist

My son, a meer age of ten, having uttered a manipulative plea to draw me in, once again. A challenge you might say! Has now convinced me that Super Smash Bros Brawl is an awesome game, and I should be honored to play with the "likes of him"! Seriously, did he just say that? Rather bold I thought coming from a 10 year old! And for good reason because the kid has got some skill, and didn't waste any time punishing me profusly to prove it! There comes a time when you open your eyes to games that seemed unappealing in the beginning. Super Smash Bros, for me, was one of those games. My son, had tried to get me to play some rounds with him(while he was playing Melee on the GC.) but I really didn't want too. I just didn't really care to play it. Maybe it's age..........maybe I just didn't really have a good reason, kinda like when I didn't give Guitar Hero a chance. I think it probably would have been a good idea for some practice with Melee, before getting into Brawl against him, but oh well, he's having fun, even if it is at my expense, and humiliation! I really can't say anything bad about the game, and I don't have a solid explanation for the negligence in giving it a shot. This is when my son comes into the picture, and gives me insight as to why I should play Brawl with him. First off he says, "Dad, you really would like this game, if you tried it!" Of course, he's using an interesting mixture of logic that I have so many times bestowed upon him, whilst trying to convince him to eat his dinner! (Those of you out there with children of your own, can truly appreciate and understand all this, albeit educational to those without children, Memo to you! You will see this again, and it could come in handy ) So my son, the psychological advisor, says also, that he remembers all the fussin' he game me about the cigarettes! To which I have now been smoke free since February! He firmly believes that HE bugged me enough to get me to quite, so now he is using a similiar mode of thinking in conjunction with using my own words against me! The IRONY, Go figure! Shaking my head, I have at that moment, realized I have just been duped with my own psychological reasoning, and by a 10 year old to boot! So it's a Good game! I admit it...............I actually like playing it............SO WHAT!!! DO YOU WANT A COOKIE!!!

Apology for all Guitar Hero players.....sincerely!

I wish to send out an unreasonably difficult apology to all who play the Guitar Hero games! I have recently been exposed to Guitar Hero III by my nephew, and wife's brother. Allow me to explain.......Some years back when I was a teen, I actually played a little guitar(six string) and was dilligently enveloping myself with music of all genres. All for the passion to play guitar, and of course be like a rock star! I know, so cliche! Even so, anyone that loves Rock music can't deny the desire to be a rock star, or music star of some sort (depending on your musical taste!). With that said, I know the difficultly in playing a six-string if you are not remotely talented musically. Which brings me to my point. I did not respect Guitar Hero because of the "color coded fret buttons", and a "flapper button" to strum and play notes! Ridiculous! I thought so..... because of the respect I have for real guitar players! I have now gotten past my grudge, for stupid reasons, and have given the game (GH3) a try to see if I could do anything with it. Awesome! I had a blast! However, to be honest .........I suck! Kinda suck like 'Randy' in the 'South park' episode, if you have seen it ......you know what I mean! Of course, I haven't been playing in my underwear! I still have yet to get the game, but at this point........I am truly sorry for being a hypocrite, and passing judgement onto all the Guitar Hero gamers.....because I am hooked on this game now, and have experienced it first hand that it truly does require some skill to play! Albeit, that I am horrible at it! I do plan on buying this game, and getting better. Let this also be a lesson to all else who passes judgement onto someone else, for whatever reasons. The saying goes as follows: If you have not experienced something for your self, then you have no ground to stand on to judge. This game is genius.......and it is great for someone just wanting hear some awesome music, build hand-eye coordination, challenge themselves to put up high scores, and sorta kinda be a rock star! Once you feel it, you realize ........just like I did! Last night at my sister's........I played 'Bulls on Parade' and got 97% of notes played..........of course it was on Easy, but still! I could feel the beat! That is a huge accomplishment in my opinion, since I have only picked up the game like once or twice! And I have what has been brought to my attention many times over as, "no rhythm whatsoever"!

    Wondering whats next?

Does anyone else feel like the Wii is a test market console? And the next Wii will end up being the way the company visioned it? Or do you feel THIS really is what the company had in mind? I personally feel, this console is a stepping stone, and the coming console(s) will be more towards the ideas originally visioned. Not that this console is BAD or anything like that. The Wii was the BAIT, and now that Ninty sees the draw that it has.....they can invest more money in the next version, to truly give the console they visioned in the first place. We now see that Microsoft didn't jump the gun, after all with the leap in hardware advancement with the 360, as well as Sony with the leap on the PS3. Both companies are starting to see a boom because of development now steering to "HD" leaning to be the standard format. So in all, I praise Nintendo for stepping back so to speak, and test the market. Before sinking a bazillion dollars in technology that wouldn't pan out. So the ultimate question remains for all three companies........When will the next console come out? Begin production or design team popping ideas? 5 years? 7 years? Maybe even 10 years?
