    Forza Motorsports for teh win!!

I really can't stress how good this game is. I haven't had the privilege of playing Gran Turismo 4 yet, but I have put in a very good amount of my time into GT3. With that in mind, the basis for my comparisons might not be the up to date but overall they should be fair enough. GT3 has long been the best racing sim that I have played. Forza comes into that mix and I can honestly say at least equals if not passes GT3. The one thing I think is a detriment to Forza is the music of the game. For the most part it is songs you have heard before but redone in what I would term "rock elevator" form. It gets old really fast. The saving grace and something I have not messed with now.. custom soundtracks of your own music played from the hard drive. Trust me, this will be done by me in the near future.

One way people will compare GT4 with Forza is by looking at the list of cars available. Gran Turismo will dwarf the Forza list. If the numbers in my head are right, GT4 has 4 hundred or so more cars then Forza. One would think that would be a huge advantage to deciding which game is better, but I am going to put the brakes on that theory. In my opinion Gran Turismo has always had a great deal of 'fluff' cars. Just think of the cars you get to choose from when starting the career mode. Usually you wind up with a Honda Civic DX or a Ford Focus.. some cruddy econobox that you absolutely don't want to even admit to having in your garage. Forza eliminates the bottom rung for the most part. You might still start out with a Ford Focus, but now you are driving the SVT edition, or starting with an Acura RSX Type S. These cars were middle tier in Gran Turismo and I have to say, it is a lot more fun to start out with a racing oriented version of the classic econobox then the dealer lot variety when starting your career mode. Another huge plus in my mind for Forza is the Arcade mode. Right off the bat you can jump into a race using a 600HP true race car. Sure there are plenty of cars you can use yet and will have to unlock, but I would guess there are close to 75-100 cars available out of the box in all classes of cars. As I remember in GT3, there were a few decent cars but most were not available, and to add Project Gotham into this, you have an order of magnitude more cars to choose to race against your buddy the first time you fire it up.

Anyway, it is about time for me to go home so I am going to wrap this up short today.. I will detail some more Forza goodness tomorrow when I have more time.

    Forza Motorsports

Got to try it out for about 5 minutes.. tonight I will put it through the paces for real. Can't wait. Metal Gear has taken a short break currently. Just wanted a change of pace and Forza should do the job nicely. Hopefully MG doesn't wind up in the graveyard of started but never finished games that I am so famous for. Currently I have Farcry, Doom 3, Star Wars Republic Commando, Warcraft III all installed on my PC and never finished. Most of them not even close.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the kegger!!!

So yeah.. there was a keg at my house Saturday. Saturday also turned out to be an abysmal day weather wise. After 2 consequetive weekends of completely sunny days and highs in the 80's, my birthday party was in the 30's and snowed. Yes, you read that right. It SNOWED at the end of April. Well that didn't stop us from grilling out and using the garage as the party place. Rented a mini jet heater that uses propane and we had people almost stripping off clothes.

Well we didn't quite finish the keg that night, but it is close. Got a ton of pics of us all getting hammered on Pabst Blue Ribbon and drinking Jagr Bombs. Quite a good time and one of the best birthday parties I have had!
