Just random thoughts and maybe a quick game review.

  Weekend Gaming - Week 05

  Coming off a three day weekend, you would expect a lot of gaming time but sadly, those plans were destroyed. I had to go out of town from Saturday till Monday, pretty much killing any major time I had to play.

  Grand Theft Auto IV: Finished it up and was pretty much disappointed in the last few missions. I plan on going back and getting those 30 cars and just messing around but thats not a high priority right now. I do plan on busting it out later this month when we have our monthly 360 LAN party.

  Mercenaries 2: Been waiting all of August for this game and it does not disappoint. The explosions are just as good as you see in the videos. The game is really a total action shooter and once you play it as such, you'll really enjoy it. On the other hand, if all you like to do is look for faults in realism or such then most likely your already on the forum QQ. I played co-op a couple times and had a blast. No lag or issues. I'm looking forward to unlocking some of the major hardware.

  Castle Crashers (trial): I got the trial after hearing so many good things about the game. It's pretty fun but at 1200 points and none of my friends showing any interest in playing it, I'm going to have to pass on it. At 800 points I might be able to squeeze it in but for now it'll stay out of reach.

  Tales of Vesperia: I had to give this game a quick try after watching the video review from GS. The visuals are really good and pretty much everything else matches the review. The combat is good and the story seems decent so far. I'll pick it back up after I'm done with Mercs 2.

  This week only has a couple games I'm interested in. The main game is the Warhammer one. Pretty much each week of this month I have one or two games I'm interested in but October will just blow me away. Just not enough time.

  Weekend Gaming - Week 04

  A quiet weekend with no surprises. I've decided I'll include demo's so enjoy.

  Grand Theft Auto IV: Still playing and I'm enjoying it much more after unlocking the 2nd big island. The 3rd island is a bit of a let down if you ask me. There is a couple things I wish would be fixed but the game is still a solid 9.0. I would raise it to 9.5 if they fixed those issues. I have about 15-20 missions left and have done most of the side missions like get cars, be a delievery guy, assasin, ect ect. I doubt the game will last me till Mercs 2 comes out but I'm looking forward to just messing around after the story is done.

  Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (demo): I personally like Star Trek but I know a good game when I see it. The visuals in the demo didn't exactly wow me but the camera was good. I was hoping for a kinda slow paced game were you could enjoy using your powers but I came away feeling that its a basic hack n' slash with a Star Wars skin. At the end of the demo were you fight that walker, I would expect something like that could be taken down with the lightsaber and powers normally so when I seen that it resorts to button mini-game, I just sighed. I'll still play the retail but I'm not going to stop playing another game for it.

  NHL 2K9 (demo): Been a long long time since I've played a hockey game and waiting to see which one is the best to get. The visuals were nice and no problems with the camera. I do think the rink is too small or they need to remove a couple guys because it's just so cluttered. I will admit I'm not much of a hockey fan so I might not 'get it' but I still enjoyed it for a bit. I'm hoping the EA game has a demo out soon.

  My friends and I will be talking about Mercs 2 all week. I even have the poster that was in the OXM issue up here at work. Heck, next week has 4-5 games I wanting to play. The madness beings!

  Weekend Gaming - Week 03

  Thankfully this weekend was much better then the last one. It helped that a couple good games came out and I finally got time to play a game that came out a few months ago.

  Madden 09: Last year's Madden was my first time seeing it on the current consoles and I was blown away by the visuals. This year's Madden seems to have done a couple odd things with it but still very pretty. I won't waste any more time on this game. Bottom line is it's Madden and the only NFL game on the market.

  Fable II Pub Games: Since I'm dieing for Fable II, this was a no brainer. Don't hurt that it was free either. I mainly played for the items and some gold. I will admit I used the Fortune's Tower cheat but I didn't QQ on the forums about how it ruined this or that. After reading the forum this past week, some people just need to get on with their lives. I still had to win the other two tournaments on my own so I don't feel guilty.

  Grand Theft Auto IV: Yup, I'm that one person who hasn't played this game. True, I did try it way back in May but I had other games on my mind then. It didn't help that I hated how the textures would load slowly or the draw distance was messed up. That and I didn't care for the car physics. I know they did one update for MP but maybe they did another to the textures because I rarely see it now and the draw distance is fine. I had to get use to the cars but it's not much of a issue now. I also decided to play this game now because I have two weeks before Mercs 2 comes out so I needed a long game.

  So there you have it, a much much better weekend and the last game mentioned will keep me busy till the awesome-ness that is Mercs 2 comes out. Have you seen the gameplay videos for that? It'll blow your mind.
