Why are we inverted or normal?

I have been playing a lot of Call of Duty 4 since it came out and find that I am a good player as long as I am using mycontrols. If I switch to my friends controls it takes me too long to figure out how to play. One example is that my friends will switch two buttons on the controller setup and if I use their character I can't instinctively just use the control as is; my mind is too use to the old control and I am fighting intuitive thought on how to play but i would eventually be able to change.

One thing I don't know if I would be able to change is from normal to inverted look. I have looked all over as to why people use one way or another without many good answers. i have found a bunch of personal reasons why but those only make sense if that is your way of playing. One example is that people who use inverted say that they think of the controller as the back of the head and if they are push forward they look down and vise a versa. Well, thats great, I don't think of it that way. I just view myself as the person playing and if he wants to look up i point up; but that example doesn't work for everyone.

But, it gets weirder as we go to other games because my taste of control changes depending on my distance from the person. If I am first person, than its normal; 2nd person than its inverted; planes its inverted; unless I am using a mouse than my first person with a mouse can be inverted. I have seen others opinions on this and they are opposite of mypreferences. How or what would have caused this? A few friends and I have been playing the same games forever and we all play differently.

I can't say this is done by any certain game because yeah I played flight simulator but I also played first person shooters. It doesn't matter to me whichoptionyou choose; I just think all these need to be in games. I remember as game recently (Ghost Recon 2) and the control setup was so backwards from what I was use to that it took me weeks of playing to finally not suck; it should have just had theoptionto have a controller setup that I liked.

Maybe I am the only person that cares about this but I am just curious why we all don't play the games the same.

    Temporary Suspension

Just got my first suspension from the site a day ago and I gotta tell ya, its quitesurprising. I don't know how many of you out there have had the terms of use suspension before but I didn't see it coming. The problem was that I didn't even know that I had said something bad. I am still extremelycautiouswhen I type now. I have seen quite a few people get introuble more over the past year than I have in all the other years combined.

    People forgotten by gaming community

Games now have what appears to be everything we could want in them: graphics, gameplay, storyline, etc. There also is a ton of systems to play these on: xbox, pc, mac, wii, ps3. With all these games and systems you would think every aspect of gaming was being utilized. There just isn't many games worth watching other people play though. I haven't seen a game that is fun to just sit back with other people, have a few drinks and watch the game.

I just hope this wasn't something that just my friends and I use to do because that would be sad for everyone else. Some of the best games I remember either playing or watching was FF2, FF3, FF7, Dune for Sega CD, Dragon Warrior, Fallout, Everquest, Doom. There is a few games now that are, but they are far and few between such as COD4 and the Lego games but thats about it. The 2 prior generations seemed to have so many more of these games.

I don't know if they even can test for this in games. I do know that after watching one of the games you have a better chance of buying the next game. So, maybe this should be companies R&D because I didn't always want to buy the first version of a game but I might if I watched someone else. If a game is good enough to watch someone else play, then its sure as hell is good enough for me to buy. And if you noticed, the games that we found great to watch, for the most part became some of the most well known games ever.

Aerith Death in FF7, there was no bringing her back, or anything. You just had to watch a character you got attached to after playing the game sometimes over 50hrs. Sometimes more.

  • Japanese Zelda commercial

    Watch this video

It is a weird japanese commercial. I don't completely understand the premiss of it but it has to do with Zelda and Link. Possibly even Gannon. Oh, and they are doing the thriller dance.
