Just months after Guiding Light went off the air, word comes out today that As the World Turns will go off the air in September, 2010. I have never really been that big a fan of ATWT, but it is so sad to see another soap go off the air. The industry is slowly dying and it makes me sad!
I still miss the shows that have gone off the air, Santa Barbara, Another World, Passions, Sunset Beach, Ryan's Hope, Loving/The City, Guiding Light....!

Well, Guiding Light is off the air for good! I watched the series finale yesterday evening. Most of the episode was wonderful and I loved how they tied up almost all of the loose ends. My only issue with the finale is that they did not give closure to the whole Jeffrey storyline. Jeffrey was presumed dead but Jonathan knew he was alive. Flash forward to a year later, Reva and Josh are back together and no mention of Jeffrey at all. That was the only hole in the episode. I was ecstatic to see Reva and Josh reunite and everyone basically happy!
As I've said, I will forever miss this show! Luckily, I'm still the editor and there is so much more that needs to be added to the guide. There are so many episode summaries out there and cast edits, etc. So at least my show will still keep me busy!
Okay, enough GL blogs! Next one up will be about new fall tv shows!
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Yup, another Guiding Light blog
Well, today, the show goes on for the last time. I still have to watch yesterdays ep as well. I am going camping this weekend about to leave, so I will watch both episodes when I get back on Sunday. The show has been absolutely amazing this past week! To a big location shoot for a wedding to the shocking death of Alan Spaulding! I have teared up more than once and I know the final two episodes, I will probably cry! May sound dorky, but this show is amazing!
In my soap opera viewing past, I have seen the final episodes of Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara, Loving/The City, Sunset Beach, Another World and Passions. I hate for soaps to keep going off the air. It's a dying breed and I would love to see all of the shows continue.
Well, I'm off for some camping at Kings Dominion in Virginia this weekend! A big group of us go every year and this is our fifth year!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

September 18 will be the final episode of Guiding Light and I still can't believe it. They announced the cancellation back in April and it still hasn't sunk in. There are so many storylines that the viewers will never see finish. My daily TV watching routine includes an hour of GL every Monday-Friday and after next week, I'll have a void.
It's so sad that soap operas are a dying breed. I've been watching them since grade school and I don't plan on stopping. I still have General Hospital, Days of our Lives and One Life to Live, but they will not fill the void of GL. I'm sure I'll write more about this in the next week

On another note, I gained an awesome editorship a while back, Mad Men!!! A very awesome show on AMC and I am happy to be working on it! Jon Hamm is gorgeous too!

Hey all, it's been a while since I last posted! I've been around reading your blogs, just not commenting. I can't remember the last time I commented, sorry about that! I'll try to do better
So, I've been busy with a lot of TV watching this summer! Loving True Blood! Vampire Eric is hot and I love that he, Sookie and Bill could be a triangle! LOVING the new TNT show, Dark Blue! What a fabulous show and I really, really hope it doesn't get cancelled! Logan Marshall-Green as Dean is hot and I love his character. I even love Dylan McDermott's character. Hope it sticks around.
Also watching Leverage. I like the first season, but the second one has started off a little slow. I'll keep giving it more chances though. Watching the new Real World, Cancun season (I am the editor of that show, after all
). Pretty good season so far, lots of drama. Other than that, lots of daily soaps of course. Getting down to the wire with my fave, Guiding Light... September 18 is the day GL will go off the air. How upsetting it is that it is cancelled.... I really don't know what I'll do without my daily done of GL....
Hope everyone is having a fabulous summer!!!!

I'm so upset. Guiding Light was canceled yesterday after being on the air for 70 years. GL has been a favorite soap of mine for years and it is the one show that I spend most of my time on here at this site. This is a blow to the whole daytime industry. Shows are being asked to cut big stars and cut budgets and it's only going to get worse.
I will always remember the GL storylines that I loved growing up and to this day still love. I will miss this show tremendously. The final airdate is scheduled for September 18, 2009. They better have some good storylines to wrap up the show and they better put Josh and Reva back together for good!!!!

Well, it's been a tough couple of days for me and my family. I attended a funeral today for my brother's best friend, Ryan. It's such a sad, sad story about what happened. In early January, Ryan, who was 34, went missing in downtown Baltimore near the bar district of Fells Point. Unfortunately, the firends that he was with earlier in the night had said that Ryan was really, really, drunk and was last seen wandering towards the water. He was never seen again. A missing persons report was filed later that month and as almost two months passed, friends and family were giving up hope. Last Wednesday night, a body was found floating in the inner harbor of Baltimore... it was Ryan. There was no foul play, just very bad luck.
My brother has been so close to Ryan for over 25 years. Ryan was an extended member of our family. Kevin, my brother, flew up from Florida for the funeral and I don't think I have ever seen him so upset and sad, even after our father died when he was 16 and I was 13. This loss has hit him so hard. The funeral was so sad. So many of Ryan's friends came to share and celebrate his life. I really don't think Ryan ever really knew how many people truly loved him. I can only be there for my brother in his time of need and sorrow.
You just never know whats going to happen every day. I try to live every day to the fullest and I hope all of you do the same!

Well, after yesterday's blog, many of you were surprised at my affection for "reality" shows, so I thought I would write a blog about the normal shows that I watch or edit

The one show that I am a TC for and spend most of my time on is Guiding Light, which has become can't miss lately! This soap is finally getting back on track and now that Grant Aleksander is back on as Phillip, things can only get better! This past Tuesday's show featured unbelievable acting by Justin Deas and it makes me realize how much I missed his depth as an actor.
Another drama that I edit which will be returning for a second season is Raising the Bar. It got mixed reviews and the show is good, I just think it can get better. Now if only Mark-Paul Gosselaar would keep his hair short
I've come to realize that I watch too much TV... thanks for pointing that out Sylent
... I'm completly addicted, LOL! It's a wonder that I have a social life. My normal day schedule is: work 7-3, Gym until 4:45, home by five, dinner and shower, done by 6 and then John and I usually watch TV until I go to bed at 10. Now, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that routine changes a lot because John and I are usually very busy, so it's no wonder that both of my DVR's are filled to the brim with past shows. Somehow I manage to do it all. That will change one day when we have kids, but in the meantime, I will enjoy my tv watching!Right now, I'm addicted to working out to Lady Gaga's music! Her new song, "PokerFace" is very catchy and has a good upbeat song to work out to. I'm always looking for new workout material. I got a new Ipod last month and I only have about 350 songs on it. Every time I go to download songs, I can't think of any songs that would be good. I always draw a blank. Any suggestions?
Have a great day everyone!!!

Haven't blogged about stuff on tv.com in a long time! I have been submitting a lot lately and now I have a lot more shows that I edit! For some reason, I am addicted to reality tv... I know, it's horrible and I wish I wasn't, but the shows just suck me in!
I now edit both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I picked up the female version when the previous editor was retired from being MIA, which was a nice surprise. I also picked up Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, a show on the Food Network that I love to watch. Not a huge fan of Guy Fieri, but his enthusiasm for food is definitely watchable! Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew was a good pickup, even though the show is a little exploitative. The new season, Sober House, is full of drama. Just picked up Confessions of a Teen Idol yesterday and I just love that show because it has guys on there from the 80's that I loved, Billy Hufsey, Adrian Zmed, etc. Eric Nies is a nice touch too!
Also picked up Paris Hilton's My New BFF, I know, I know... what crap, really it was. I didn't intend to even try to become editor. Rounding out my new reality shows is 17 Kids and Counting about the Duggar family. I started watching this out of curiosity and it still intrigues me. How can you have 17, now 18 kids and not get them confused and spend time with all of them? All of those reality shows, plus my old stand-by, The Real World, I have a lot of editing to do, LOL!
On another editor note, I picked up a show that I really, really wanted. Swans Crossing!!! This show came on in the summer of 1992 and I have every single episode on VHS. It stars Sarah Michelle Gellar before she hit it big. It was a half-hour teen soap that I just loved! I was very happy to obtain this show and it needs a lot of work! Now, I get to go back and watch the show all over again

*******************
Nothing new to report in my life otherwise! Valentines Day was okay. John and I went out to a nice steak dinner that cost way too much. I was a little disappointed that he didn't get me flowers or candy or even a card! That bummed me out. John definitely slacked this year. I love to get cards

Right now, it's snowing in Maryland and I wish it would stop. Don't think there will be much accumulation, but when it snows, people drive like idiots!
Anyway, have a great day everyone!!!

So very very excited that my RAVENS are in the AFC championship game this Sunday against the Steelers! The Ravens/Steelers rivalry is a good one and even though they beat us twice this year, I have a very good feeling that my team will prevail! Our rookie quarterback, Joe Flacco, has been awesome and I want to see him win! The other rookie QB, Matt Ryan, got all of the accolades, it's time Flacco got some!!!!
So, onto the show 24... I have never watched this show even though John has watched it since it started. I usually can't even stand to walk through the room with that show on, because the clock beeping sound is annoying.... BUT, this past Monday night, John was watching episode 1 of Sunday's 2 episodes and he was about 10 minutes in and I went down to hug my dog and immediately got transfixed on the storyline!!! Caught me totally off guard, but John and I watched all four episodes of the season that night! Of course, I was asking a billion questions the entire time since I've never seen it. The show is pretty good and I never thought I would like Keifer Sutherland, but he's very likeable. Now I have another show to DVR, as if I needed any more....
I've come to the conclusion that I hate the month of January! It's so cold here in Maryland, I just can't wait until Summer!!!!
That's all for today! Have a great day everyone!!!!

Since I have yet to find the Christmas spirit, I stole this quiz from I-mom in the hopes that the spirit will somehow find me

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I wrap gifts horribly, so I like gift bags!
2. Real tree or artificial? Last year was my first with an artificial! I miss the smell of a real white pine or Douglas fir!
3. When do you put up the tree? Doing it tonight

4. When do you take the tree down? Probably New years day if I'm not too hungover, LOL!
5. Do you like eggnog? Ewwww!!!!
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmmmm... I would say my Cabbage Patch Kids when they were all the craze. My mom was lucky enough to get two the Christmas they came out, I felt so lucky b/c I was the only girl on the block to have 2!
7. Hardest person to buy for? My mom and John's parents. They have everything already!
8. Easiest person to buy for? John. I usually get him clothes and something to do with Xbox or Wii.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? not anymore, but I do have a glass plate on a stand with a nativity scene on it.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail them! I haven't done mine yet... whoops! Will start tomorrow!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? hmmmm.... well, god bless his heart, but John gave me a bracelet last year that was not very pretty and I returned it. Probably not the worst gift I ever received but one of the most memorable. I remember getting clothes as a kid was pretty bad.... so funny, that's all I want now, LOL!
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Too many to name, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Holiday Inn, National Lampoons Christmas vacation.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I started last night, LOL!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm sure I have!
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Pumpkin pie all the way!
16. Lights on the tree? Of course!
17. Favorite Christmas Song? I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayla Peevy, Snoopy and the Red Baron, by the Royal Guardsmen, Christmas Son by Nat King Cole
18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home? Just to John's family and mine, about a half hour apart
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Yup, even Olive the other Reindeer, LOL! (okay I've never seen it, but I saw it on the tvguide last night!
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? a star
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? In the morning, definitely!
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Mean people who won't help you in stores!
23. What theme or color are you using? a Christmas one?
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? We do a weird Christmas tradition at my house, We eat Cheese and potatoes. Racqlette cheese melted with a special machine you can only buy in Switzerland. It's been a tradition for about 10 years now. Weird, I know, but it's good!
25. Favorite Christmas Tradition? Reading the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve
26. What do you want for Christmas this year? an engagement ring, LOL, but I probably won't get it!

That's right, it's finally here! Going to see Twilight tonight with my girls! I CAN'T WAIT!!! I know the movie will not be as good as the book, but I am so excited to see it! These books have been amazing to read and I feel like a teenager again! Most people around me find it funny that a 31 year old woman is loving these wonderful books! I just tell them that they should be reading them and then they will see what all the fuss is about!
I'll leave off with a few images only true fans will love!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!! So excited the weekend is here! I was able to hit the gym last night for the first time in a month after my foot surgery! That definitely was great! Couldn't run or do the eliptical like I usually do, but I managed the exercise bike pretty well! Felt so good to work out! My TV viewing will go down now that I'm back at the gym. Getting off at three in the afternoon and heading straight home without the gym, made watching TV so much easier

As for TV, I've been catching up on all of my shows. Loving True Blood right now! (I must have a thing for vampires!) Been keeping up with all of my soaps even though they have all gotten a little boring of late, even General Hospital...
I finished the Twilight saga last weekend and I cannot wait to see the movie on the 21st of this month! Robert Pattinson is so dreamy! He can sing too! He has a song on the soundtrack! May have to add him to my list of celebrities that John would give me a pass for
As promised, here is a pic of my Halloween costume from last week (PLEASE do not pay attention to what my sash says! I am NOT a B****, My girls made me be that as a funny joke since I am certainly one of the nicest girls in the world. It was meant to be funny!) (wonder if I'll get a TOS?) That would be funny!

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Well, I finally finished Stephanie Meyer's Twilight and after getting to the middle, I plowed through it! What an amazing book! I bought the second one, New Moon, yesterday and am already 150 pages in. The second already had me crying and feeling sad. I can't wait until the work day is over and I can go home again and read! It's been since the Harry Potter series that I've been so engrossed in a book series! I can't wait until November 21 when the movie comes out!
In tv.com news, I became editor for two new shows, 17 Kids and Counting and Charm School. Two reality shows that are airing now. Been submitting my usual amount to my soap, Guiding Light and my other shows that I edit for. Still not in the forums as much, they are still slow and blogs are even slow too. I miss some of my regular blogs
Halloween is tomorrow and I will post pics next week! I'm also going to become a godmother again this Sunday. My best friend's son, Caden, will become godchild number two for me. He is such a sweet little boy and since they live 2 hours away, I can't wait to see them.
Have a great day everyone!!!

I feel like I haven't blogged in forever! My foot is healing nicely! I am off of crutches and just wearing a boot on my foot. Getting around much better. I'll be able to be without the boot next week right before Halloween, thank goodness! I'm going to be a beauty pagaent queen with 3 of my friends and I need to be in cute shoes

I am really looking forward to Halloween, which is my favorite holiday of the year! I'll be watching AMC's Fright Fest movies all week and I can't wait! Unfortunately I won't be home on Halloween night to watch the original Halloween due to a costume party, but I'm going to DVR it this weekend and watch it the night before even though I've seen the movie a 100 times!
As for TV watching, been catching up on all of my soaps and I'm really, really enjoying True Blood!!! Didn't think I would think Stephen Moyer as sexy, but as Bill Compton, he truly is! I love that show! Been watching The Mentalist just for Simon Baker. Don't know if that show will keep my attention for the long haul, but just looking at him is good enough for now

As for tv.com, I've been a submitting fool lately, even with the bugs still in place. About to become an editor for two new shows and I'm trying to get back into the forums, but they have been so quiet lately.
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts yesterday as I underwent foot surgery! It was a success and I was home by 10 am yesterday morning, in and out in 3 hours. Throughout yesterday, I didn't feel too much pain since my foot was still numb, but today is a different story. OW is all I have to say! It's soooo painful, but I know it will be okay in the long run! Luckily, John is taking very good care of me and I'm getting to catch up on all of my shows that I've dvr'd in the last couple of weeks!
I also started a new book too, Twilight, which everyone has said is amazing. I'm about 85 pages in and I like it so far. I wanted to read it before the movie comes out. I also finally received a DVD collection in the mail yesterday, North and South, which is my favorite miniseries ever!
Thanks again for the kinds thoughts and comments yesterday! They mean a lot to me! Have a great day everyone!!!

7Oct 08Heading into surgery today for my foot
I've never had surgery before and I'm not looking forward to the recovery time. I won't be able to hit the gym for 4 weeks! That's a huge bummer! I'll have my laptop with me as I recoup in bed the next couple of days, so I should still be submitting and commenting on all of your blogs! Wish me luck!!!- Posted Oct 7, 2008 2:48 am PT

Well, I participated in the blackout yesterday. I only came to this board to logout b/c I had forgotten to do it the night before. I kind of felt lost in my work day when I wasn't on here and perusing the site. But in reality, it hasn't been the same since the redesign took place. When it was a daily occurence and sometimes obsession to sign in and submit and post in blogs and forums, is now a hassle at times and I miss the old way. So in a way to hopefully help, here are my five suggestions for change.
1. The white background has GOT to go! It really does hurt the eyes!
2. I would like to see more entries in the blog post area. I don't want to see so few. I like to keep up to date with my friends.
3. After you've submitted, it doesn't give you the option to go back to the person or episode you were editing. Backtracking is annoying.
4. The cast/crew thing still needs to be fixed.
5. In general, the whole first summary of a show page is horrible. It just doesn't look good. I want the old design back!!!
I know this has been hard on everyone, but I hope that we will all continue to submit! I hope to get back on track soon!
