9Dec 09
Hey GameSpotters.
Today would be the 9th of December, 2009. A day which has no significance in terms of publicity. And none of you will probably realise why I'm celebrating such a day with no fame. On the 9th of December, 2006, I was a mere 14 year-old boy. I had been checking GameSpot out for a while beforehand, for the sake of gaming news and such, but never made an account. I was getting into reviewing at the time, and I found that you could submit your own opinion on GameSpot. I made an account, thinking "What's the harm in doing so?". I found out that you had to be at least Level 3 in order to review games (I don't know if it's like that now). So, I played around until the third level came my way. And I suppose that's how I got into GameSpot.
Three years later, I am now 17. I have apparently matured a lot over these three years at GameSpot, and I have met some really awesome people over my time at GameSpot. I have also learnt that I am not the only mainstream RPG gamer in the world. But little did I know back when I was 14, was that I would have such a great time contributing to GameSpot. Little did I know that my reviews would evolve into big essays, which I would enjoy writing. Little did I know that I would spend over three years contributing to the site, and get to Level 35!
It's hard to believe that I joined GameSpot three years ago. I'm still here, i'm getting older, life is changing. Here's to more years to come on GameSpot! Bring on the new decade!

Hey GameSpotters!
So, I got back from the US nearly a week ago, and I haven't really been in the blogging mood. I think i'll be skipping out on a monthly blog, because I really haven't felt as though I've had the time to write one. So, I may as well just write about my current gaming progresses.
So, I'm slowly getting back into newer titles. I imported the Deluxe Edition of Demon's Souls from the US, because there is no current PAL release date at this time, and I'm really getting sick and tired of the laziness for PAL games. Anyway, I'm enjoying it thus far, but it's really hard. I'm currently up to the Flamelurker in Level 2-2, and he is a real pain in the ass. Eventually, I'll beat him. I'm considering reviewing Demon's Souls, so look out for one sometime in the future.
I got two games over in the US. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Fire Emblem's still in it's seal, but I'm currently playing through 358/2 Days, and it's not too bad thus far. It feels a bit weird at the moment, due to the whole slot system, and I don't really like how it's mission-based. But I hope it gets better.
I've nearly finished Tales of Vesperia. I've taken my time with this one, but I'm nearly there. I may try and finish the main story sometime this week. I also hope the PS3 version localises.
In terms of older titles, I occasionally play Castlevania: SoTN, and Star Ocean 2. Both games are awesome. I'm also considering importing Persona on PSP, due to that I couldn't find it in the US, and PAL regions are taking a zillion years to get it.
So, that's pretty much it from me. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

Hey guys. I'm going on a plane to Los Angeles really soon, so I shall bid you all farewell until then. This is a really quick blog, because I'm leaving pretty soon. I believe I am returning on the first of December, so until then, I shall see you guys later.

This just in. I just received an email from Square-Enix Europe informing me that Vagrant Story is to come out on PSN on the 12th of November. That is THIS THURSDAY! Oh joy, I haven't played Vagrant Story since I rented it years ago. I am really keen to play it again. I must have it!
*Screams in joy!*
I haven't heard any word of it coming to the US PSN, but I'm sure it will, unless it already has.

NEW REVIEWS
GAME OF THE MONTH
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
This month has been very nostalgic for me, and I haven't played a newer title in a while now (excluding Dissidia and Vesperia). I thought I'd play some Ocarina of Time to cure my gaming depression, and it worked. Despite the fact that I have played through Ocarina thousands of times, I still love it, and it still partly cures depression. I've always wondered why.
SONG OF THE MONTH
I couldn't come up with just one, so....
From the 1970's: The Battle of Evermore - Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin IV, 1971)
From the 1980's: Kickstart My Heart - Mötley Crüe (Dr. Feelgood, 1989)
From the 1990's: Heart-Shaped Box - Nirvana (In Utero, 1993)
Yet more nostalgia.
DEMO OF THE MONTH
God of War III. I wouldn't mind giving this series a go. I'll most likely purchase the GoW Collection coming out soon.
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MONTH

Music Maestro, 25G - Banjo-Kazooie
There are 900 musical notes out there in the world of Banjo-Kazooie. Real gamers collect them all...
COLLECTIBLE OF THE MONTH
Cloud Strife figurine. I got it out of a lucky dip. There are 5 figurines in that series that you can get, and you don't know which one is in the box.
There was Warrior of Light, Cloud, Squall, Zidane and Tidus. I got Cloud.
VIRTUAL ITEM OF THE MONTH

Master Sword - Various Zelda games.
HERO OF THE MONTH
Link. I'm sure you don't need a picture of him.
VILLAIN OF THE MONTH
Ganondorf. I'm sure you don't need a picture of this guy either.
PURCHASE OF THE MONTH
Tales of Destiny: Official Guidebook for $5.50.
VIRTUAL BABE OF THE MONTH
Reith - Magna Carta: Tears of Blood

18Oct 09
Due to recent events that have been pretty awesome, here's a brief blog about what has happened in the past weekend.
I went to a party on Saturday, stayed the night at a friend's. That was pretty sweet. Stayed up for about 36 hours straight in the weekend overall, which by that time I decided to crash on Sunday evening, due to school next morning. I swear I had no Mountain Dew at all in the weekend. NONE.
I've also been listening to some pretty sweet music lately, particularly Led Zeppelin. Definitely one of the best bands in music history.
Most recently, I won a bid for a Japanese strategy guide for Tales of Destiny. I won the bid at $5.50!! NZ currency. The artwork in the seller's sample pages tempted me. So, hopefully I shall have some beauty to look at in a few days time, artwork related. Of course it may somewhat help me with ToD when I finally play it (need to get past region-lockout, as I have a Japanese copy of the game too).
And to conclude my randomness, I read a bit on Brütal Legend. A heavy-metal based adventure game? That....rocks! I am downloading the demo as we speak.
Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

I find it hard to believe that it's been almost 16 days since I last wrote a blog. I think it's because I've had nothing to write about. Nothing's really been going on lately.
I've actually been feeling rather nostalgic lately. I am currently listening to mainly 80's music (particularly metal, which I can never get enough of). The games I've been playing lately are older titles (aside Vesperia and Dissidia, which I don't play too much of at the moment). I recently got Banjo-Kazooie off Live Arcade and got all 200 gamerscore for (yes, I even solved all of the stupid jigsaws in Banjo's house). I am also playing through Ocarina of Time for the *insert big number*th time, after having a big chat about it with a good friend of mine. I may pick out some other older titles sometime, and play them.
My life isn't really worth talking about at the moment. Nothing interesting has really happened. All I can really say is that I'm looking forward to going to Los Angeles for a few days after my final exams finish in November. Hopefully, I'll come across Demon's Souls and Persona on PSP over there (neither have PAL release dates yet). Then, next year will be my final year of high school.
So, yeah. That's all I can really say at the moment. Do any of you have any suggestions for future blogs. Because at the moment I'm feeling really blank, and running out of ideas. I'm thinking maybe more Top 5 blogs.
(Dissidia review will probably be delayed. I've written a fair bit of it, but I'm not really in the new game mood I'm afraid. Thanks for understanding.)
Have a nice day.

GAME OF THE MONTH
Dissidia: Final Fantasy
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MONTH
A tie, between.

On the Run, 30G - Infinite Undiscovery
Deliver Aya to the village without getting hurt.
(Really frustrating, especially when Capell screams "Cut it out" every time he gets hit by a fireball.)
and...

Burn the Witch, 10G - Left 4 Dead
Light a Witch with a Molotov.
(It was my first L4D achievement, and it just feels awesome!)
TROPHY OF THE MONTH

R.I.P. ****** ********, Gold - Resistance 2
Defeat ********, Complete the Single Player Campaign.
(The reasoning for the covered words is due to the fact that there may be spoilers involved in them. It is after all a secret achievement.)
COLLECTIBLE OF THE MONTH
This.

I got it free for pre-ordering Dissidia.
VIDEO OF THE MONTH
The new Final Fantasy XIII trailer.
SONG OF THE MONTH
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses ( Appetite for Destruction, 1987 )
(BEST. LOVE SONG. EVER!)
VIRTUAL BABE OF THE MONTH
Any female from Infinite Undiscovery.
SURPRISE OF THE MONTH
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International coming to PS3, which got announced as soon as I completed it on Xbox 360. It has a US release too.
DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE MONTH
Resistance 2. At first, I liked it. As I progressed, it got worse. It just didn't click to me. It's a good game, but it just felt like a typical FPS to me. To be honest, I preferred the first one.
DEMO OF THE MONTH
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer beta. I'm looking forward to playing the full game.

This.

LittleBigPlanet updates.
Every time I pop in LBP to play it (I don't play it as much as I used to), I get stopped with an update. In fact, it's updating now as I type. Are there seriously THAT many bugs or something, or do they really need to give us an update every time they release new costumes for Sackboy? Why do they have to be so frequent!?

So don't get angry at me if I ignore your super amazing blogs based on the meaning of the universe or whatever. I will most likely return on Sunday. Seeya later.

Hey GameSpotters.
Dissidia came out yesterday over here, and I got it.

I haven't played too much of it yet, but I'm rather enjoying it thus far. It's got some rather interesting features, along with some sweet gameplay. It's definitely worth a purchase for all fans of the franchise.
EBGames had a special collector's edition exclusive there, but I decided over it (mainly because it was $30 extra, hell no!). Besides, the shop that I bought it at had a very awesome pre-order deal going on. They were selling the game for $10 less than the retail, along with some bonus goodies that came with the pre-order. I got some Dissidia postcards, which will probably remain useless to me, but are cool to have around (they look cool too, I did not take a pic of them). I also got to choose out of any Final Fantasy related pillow or wallscroll they had (this store sells collectibles as well). And here's what I chose.

It's an awesome wall scroll, in my opinion. The guys at the shop were all like "nice choice, man". I even impressed my dad with it. So yeah, I guess I got a good pre-order deal! I'm also rather proud to finally have something FF-related on my wall (my other posters are of other games).
So once I spend some more time on Dissidia, I will probably review it. By then, I would have put up the current review I am writing.
One more thing I might as well write about before I close the blog, is about future purchases. I've decided to write a list of upcoming 2009 games I may buy, rent, or at least ones that take my interest. I'm sure I won't have them all by the year's end, but here's what interests me...
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona - PSP
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days - DS
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - DS
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - PS3
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time - PS3
Tekken 6 - PS3
Demon's Souls - PS3
God of War I & II - PS3
Perfect Dark - XBLA (The number one reason why I'm tempted to renew my XBL Gold.)
Wet - X360
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - Wii (We don't have it yet...)
That's all I can think of in terms on 2009 upcoming titles. What are you looking forward to? Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

Hey GameSpotters.
In this blog, I shall talk about disc changing sequences. I don't know why I'm writing this blog, but I guess I gotta write SOMETHING.
If you are familiar at all with RPGs on the original PlayStation, then you most likely know that there are many of them that run on more than one disc. Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean 2, The Legend of Dragoon, even Dragon Quest VII I believe. I also believe there are a few non-RPGs that are multiple discs. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is one. Resident Evil 2 is another. Metal Gear Solid. And according to a close friend of mine, Gran Turismo 2 is yet another example. So there are indeed quite a few games that run on more than disc on the PlayStation.
There are even a few 6th-gen games which run on at least two. Mainly GameCube titles (Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 0, 1, 4, MGS: Twin Snakes). There are also some PS2 games like that (Star Ocean 3, Xenosaga trilogy).
And as for 7th-gen multiple disc games, you would find several Xbox 360 titles like this. Many of which are RPGs. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Star Ocean 4 are all examples of this.
***POSSIBLE SO4 SPOILERS START HERE***
So, on to my point. I've been playing a lot of Star Ocean: The Last Hope on my newly acquired Xbox 360. A few disappointments, but great game thus far nevertheless. I have just touched Disc 3 for the first time, and I must admit. Both disc change sequences were very random indeed. I'm very much used to the more appropriate disc swaps in Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX, when I defeat a boss. After a special cutscene, you get warning of a disc change, and you are able to save beforehand. I have also witnessed other games with similar warnings. At the end of the first disc in Star Ocean 4, I was level grinding in the desert and riding on my oversized bunny, when I suddenly enter the next area on Planet Roak. Then I get the random message to change to Disc 2. This was roughly 16 hours into the game. No warnings. No boss. No special cutscene. Just the screen telling you to change discs. Something similar happened at the end of Disc 2, when I was onboard the Calnus. I was going through Private Actions, on the way to En II. So I finish up with those, and I am about to land on En II, when I get yet another random message saying to change to Disc 3. No warnings. No boss. No special cutscene. This is about 28 hours in. Very strange, indeed.
***POSSIBLE SO4 SPOILERS END HERE***
So yeah, that's some pretty weird stuff. I shall put up a review for Star Ocean: The Last Hope possibly this month, so look out for that. The date is currently TBA, however. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

Games that are numbered like they're sequels.....but they're really prequels.

(NOTE: For Star Ocean: The Last Hope, there's a 4 in the Japanese text.)
Those are three examples from the top of my head. I'm sure there are more. But why do creators do this, especially tri-Ace? They're only confusing me in what comes first. What they really just need to do is not number it, but simply just subtitle it. And another thing to add is to number sequels, which is what many movie series have failed to do.

And so that's Part Two of what minor problems annoy me in gaming. Stick around for Part 3 if I ever make it.

Hey GameSpotters!
So, this happens to be my 200th blog on GameSpot. I had no idea that I'd ever make it this far. But, I guess I have.
I thought I'd make this blog of my newly purchased console, which i've had for nearly two weeks now. That would be the Xbox 360.

I thought i'd post up impressions of the system, and the games I have played for it thus far.
Tales of Vesperia - Awesome! As a Tales fan, I'm really enjoying Vesperia. I'm nearly 15 hours in, at the Ghost Ship. 180/1000 gamerscore thus far (missed Secret Mission 2 accidently, I'll get it eventually). I'm tempted to get this on the PS3 as well, for the sake of extras. That's how big of a Tales fan I am.

Star Ocean 4 - About 14 hours into this one. Still on the first disc. Pretty good at the moment, with the good and bad planets. 90/1000 gamerscore.
Blue Dragon - 3 and half hours into this one. I just beat the elemental boss in the Hospital Ruins. I'll probably get into this one a bit more when I've finished the two games above. 10/1000 gamerscore.
Gears of War - I actually disliked this game about a couple of years ago, but I have learned to enjoy it. I have beaten the first two acts on Insane with a friend on co-op. I guess it's easy to say that it's a more enjoyable game on a harder difficulty (it's what I think at least). Throughout Act 1, we were both complaining about how bad Kim's A.I. was. That was funny. 230/1250 gamerscore.
Gears of War 2 - I haven't played this one yet. In fact, it's still sealed. I will probably open it once I finish the first, or before my Gold trial expires.
The system itself - I'm really enjoying my Xbox 360 thus far. The features are much like those on the PS3, and the Achievements are pretty sweet (I actually have RPG achievements, I don't have any RPG trophies thus far). It isn't my favourite 7th Gen system, but it's still enjoyable and much better than the original Xbox (which I dislike).
Games I plan on purchasing for the system
Lost Odyssey
Fallout 3 (I'll get this on the 360 because it's apparently superior to the PS3 version, and there's also the DLC)
Mass Effect
Banjo-Kazooie XBLA (I loved it on N64)
Banjo-Tooie XBLA (While I never really got into this one originally, I'll still get it)
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (It doesn't look that great, but I shall get it eventually)
Perfect Dark XBLA (My favourite FPS ever along with GoldenEye 007)
Games I'm still thinking about getting
Infinite Undiscovery (May rent it first, unless I see a cheap price)
Fable II (I'm told it's short, I'll rent this first)
The Last Remnant (If it doesn't come out on PS3 anytime soon, then i'll just get the glitchy version)
.........and that's all I can think of from the top of my head. There are also a few original Xbox games that I may get hold of if I can find 'em. So that's about it for my 200th blog. Don't forget to add me on Xbox Live if you want to. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.

Hey GameSpotters!!
Yesterday, on 7/8/2009, I went and bought myself an Xbox 360. I now own every 7th Gen system, and I didn't expect to ever do so. Anyway, I scored myself the Gears of War bundle (I can't believe I got away with it, it was an R18 package) along with Tales of Vesperia, which was seperate from the bundle. It's a Pro model, 60GB, white. It was bundled with two games: Gears of War, and Gears of War 2. Hexic HD was also there on the HD, so that's a bonus! I currently have 60 Gamescore (I'm a noob).
360 GAMES I CURRENTLY OWN:
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Blue Dragon
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Tales of Vesperia
There are several games for the system I'm planning to buy, such as Lost Odyssey (which may well be my next purchase for the system).
And lastly, my Gamertag is, like always, ShadowLaguna. Have a nice day everybody!
