Alright peeps, this is a response to sony's "all i want for xmas is a psp" site that they're trying to pass off as a group of bloggers demanding the aforementioned console. I couldn't post my comment there because it "contains words that are not allowed on this blog." So i've put it here, and put a link to this site one there. Have a look ai the site, its worth a laugh... http://www.alliwantforxmasisapsp.com/blog/default.aspx

And here's the message to sony, that they wouldn't let me say:
I would love to use this time to just laugh in your face, sony, and as a Ninty Fanboy, I think I have a right to. But for pity's sake, what the heck were you thinking with this site?! Its blatent transparency combined with its whiney "bloggers "make the whole "PSP for xmas "concept seems far less appealing than it once was. Maybe if you gave these good people a reason to buy your games console (like some games maybe) then you might be able to shift some consoles. Anyway, i find sollace in the fact that DSs are sold out everywhere where I live and PSPs... sitting on the shelves with Pink splattered on the covers in a vain effort to make females think"Ohh pink! yay!" Your pathetic attempts to appeal to your increasingly niche market, sony, are growing more and more laughable. Take a hint, and be honest with the consumer, don't resort to the "show the man out of game movie on a console and pretend its in-game footage" like you've done with all 4 of your consoles, sure it worked for the first 2 consoles, but the public learn, unlike some companies I could name. Anyway, good luck with your ad campaigns, i'm sure after you've strangled some more ethnic minorities and get balls of dust to wind up the general public a bit more you'll be kings once again... Go watch some carpet outside, sony, there's no room for you inside anymore.

I was impressed today with Nintendo's event. Very impressed, at long last its all coming together very nicely! :-)
So here's my thoughts on today's events!
Wii summery.
Good news:
A release date confirmed!
A price confimed!
Wii bowling!
Better Zelda controls and very long gameplay!
Loads of launch titles!
Massive 3rd party support (espc from Ubisoft)
Internet exploration!
Wii sports bundled in!
Decent picture program
Miis!!! Lol
Good virtual console prices! (fingers crossed for super metroid and majora’s mask)
Constant flow of classic games!
4000000 consoles by end of year! (8 times the volume of PS3s)
Committed in avoiding the “gamecube lag” after initial release excitement
Pokemon online!
Pool?! Table tennis?! DUCK HUNT?! Yay!
Bad newsNo European release or price, yet…
No Metroid on release day
Wiimote and Nunchuck sold seperatly!
Additional Wiimote quite pricey
A dragon ball game… (one which doesn’t look to be any better than with previous controllers…)
No Mario release dates.
No Smash bros./ wario release dates
Now although i say no mario, smash and wario ware release dates is a bad thing, we can be pretty sure that they are 2007 titles. Which initially seems bad, what with the whole, " i wanna smack pikachu in the face with Snake NOW" attitude. But thinking about it this confirms Reggie's comment on avoiding the Gamecube lag, where after initial console releases there was a dwindle in decent titles or interest. But by having the promise of these 3 games, plus metroid, means Nintendo will keep interest up through 2007 whilst PS3 waits 12 months for GTA. But i am genuinly dissapointed that Metroid Prime 3 won't be a release title, that plus Zelda plus Red steel would've been the greatest launch line up ever. But then again if those extra months give opportunity to refine controls, and to add a bit of storyline depth, then so be it.
All in all, good move Nintendo! fingers crossed for the future (and please give us Europeans a decent launch day i.e. so i can get one for christmas!!!)
P.S. Odd move releasing in Japan after US... But meh.
P.P.S. Sorry about the weird format.

25Aug 06This was my comment from a PS3 news story, just putting it here so i don't forget what i said. There's no doubt whatsoever that the PS3 will outsell on release, but then again so did the 360, and chances are the Wii will too, the holiday winner (out of PS3 and Wii at least) is likely to be whichever one has the most consoles out at the time, and that is something which none of us really know. In the long term however you can't say so early on who's going to "win" there're alot of things to take into account which cannot be judged upon before an audience reaction. An interesting point is how one of the analists said "the controller has suffered with the lack of rumble feature" Instead of the controller has benefitted from motion sensitivity... PS3 has got a few things going against it however, the price etc but also its blu-ray dependance and its HD. On the surface HD is a benefit, but it bumps the price up, and isn't quite as must-have as DVDs were when they came out, they were a genuine leap in technology and the next level in entertainment, I feel HD is just a small step foward and won't really drag in as many as the PS2 did with DVD. And i don't know about all this blu-ray stuff, but won't that be costly for developers (something which the PS3 is already lacking...) Though Saying that Nintendo haven't got the reputation that sony have. Well at ;east before the DS. I have a feeling the handhelds are going to play a larger part in the upcoming console war than we'd first imagined...

Has anyone else noticed how all PSP ads (all the ones i've seen anyway) are based entirely around selling the concept of the thing, rather than its games. Ads such as the infamous white PSP and those "white bits here" ones are trying to sell the machine as a internet surfing, movie machine. Which is stupid given that any UMDs released are on DVD cheaper, and can actually be played on more than one device with a much better resolution, and internet access sucks on the PSP given that you need to be within wifi range, or a computer supporting wireless. Why not just use the computer? Rather than some range restricted, difficult to use tag-on internet. My cellphone has better internet access than a PSP.
And surprise, surprise we've got some news about the PSP, and once again its not about games. Its still about what the console is trying to do, rather than what the games do. The only PSP ads i've seen involving games are for GTA in tube stations, and Daxter on a Belgium bus-stop, presuambly trying to sell the games by name alone, which is how SCE is heading these days...
So TV viewing, eh?
Whoopee...
Has that ever been a success on a handheld? Bearing in mind that almost all the aspiring handhelds have tried it.
And lets face it, if you're that desperate to watch tv on the go, then you've probably got a portable TV.
This is the PSP's problem, everything it offers is available on another, better, format.
Movies: DVD (portable DVD players aren't limited to the ever-decreasing range of UMDs...)
Music: I-pods, Walkmans, any mp3 player (who can afford a PSP, and hasn't got a mp3 player)
Images: Phones, I-pods, paper?
Internet: How bout the computer its leeching off of to surf in the first place?
Games: Does the PSP have any? It does! oh right, that's a novelty, why haven't they mentioned that? oh well can't offer anything better than a DS, right?
