As much as I love the Halo franchise, I was always unsure if Bungie was truly capable of creating anything else noteworthy.  Well, since they left Microsoft and the Halo franchise, they've been hard at work over their next title, now revealed as "Destiny."

From what we've heard so far, Destiny sounds ambitious.  Destiny will be a living world where players can shape the events within the lore for the next 10 years.  Talk about value, a game that will actually last at least 10 years total.  To make things more interesting, this game has an MMO style and experience to it where multiple people can play on one server.....only it's not an MMORPG (I think it's a shooter but I'm not entirely sure).

Here is some more info that we know so far:

  • Quasi-MMO experience with NO subscription fee.
  • Vehicles will be available, including spaceships that will allow you to travel anywhere in our own solar system.
  • Customizable character classes and abilities
  • World raids, loot, crafting, PvP, PvE
  • A "Companion APP" for your smart phone or tablet device
  • 4 enemy races are known so far

Unfortunately, the only major downside is this will not be available on the PC, but just the 360, PS3 and next-gen consoles as far as we know so far.  Given the amount of content and the style, this really seems like the perfect game for the PC.

Other than that, this title sounds promising.  I love the idea, the story sounds interesting and I'm just glad to see more MMO games drop that stupid subscription fee that has alienated a lot of gamers, including myself.  Destiny won't be releasing this year, unfortunately, but when it does come out, I have faith that Bungie will show that they are capable of more than just Halo.

Also, thanks to Angry Joe for this information:
