Downloadable games has been a great feature in this generation and the Xbox Live Arcade has a huge library of some great games. Whether they be remakes (like Bionic Commando Rearmed or Lode Runner), ports from older games (Banjo Kazooie or two of the old Sonic games), or new games entirely (Castle Crashers or Braid), the Arcade has a great variety to choose from. ![]()
Even with it's great selection, there are a few games that I feel would make great additions to the Arcade but aren't up there yet. Turtles in Time is getting a remake and Marvel vs Capcom 2 is coming as well but what else should be there? Here is my top 10 games that should be in the Xbox Live Arcade and maybe even Wiiware and PSN too.
10) Tiny Toon Adventures Acme Allstars:
I've mentioned this game before in my Top 10 Most Overlooked Games and unfortunetely, I doubt this will make it because it wasn't that popular
, but I can hope.
This game featured 14 characters from the popular cartoon, Tiny Toon Adventures, and let you play Basketball, Soccer, bowling, monty hitting, and obstacle course. What should they do for an Xbox Live version? Just add some online play and it'll be a great addition and hopefully more people will know about this great game.
Price: $5.00
9) Jet Force Gemini:
Seeing as how Rare has already ported their Banjo games already, what's next from their list of memorable games? I hope one of them is Jet Force Gemini with an improved control scheme and better graphics. Put this game up and I'm sure people everywhere would buy it no matter what the price is. This was a great game like most of Rare's N64 games, seeing up on the Arcade would be great.
Price: $15.00
8 ) Jade Cocoon:
Also an overlooked game that probably won't ever be available, Jade Cocoon was kind of like the Playstation's answer to Pokemon. You captured creatures, then you could merge them with other creatures (which can improve their abilities and even create a new look), and then, of course, fight them. This game was surprisingly just as good as Pokemon and it would be great to see this as a downloadable game, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. Add some online play and we're good.
Price: $15.00
7) The Simpsons Arcade:
Konami made this beat-em-up for the arcade years ago but since then, they have yet to port it anywhere else. Now, we have Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and Wiiware, the perfect place to get it from. This was a great game, probably the best Simpsons game to date. Just give us back our 4 player co-op, add some online play, and you got a hit.
Price: $10.00, since it can't be found anywhere else.
6) Spyro the Dragon:
Back on the Playstation, Spyro actually did have a good solid 3D platformer (3, to be exact).
Although it was easy, it's one of my favorite 3D platformers of all time. The only thing that could be added is a slight update on graphics and that's it, hopefully the Spyro games get the same treatment as the two Banjo games.
Price: $15.00
5) Sonic Adventure:
Probably Sonic's best 3D game, Sonic Adventure would make a great addition to the Arcade or Wiiware. I would prefer DX but the original with updated graphics would be nice too. I already have SADX but it's a poorly pirated version for the PC. It would be nice to play it on a controller too.
Price: $15.00
4) Sonic CD:
To tell you the truth, I haven't played too much of this game nor have I ever owned it. I never had the SEGA CD add-on for my Genesis and I never had a Gamecube so I couldn't play Gems Collection either. I have played it a little bit though and it was pretty good. I would love to see it as a download game just so I can actually play through it and the Arcade is a great place for it, especially for those who never had a SEGA CD. How bout it SEGA, you have Sonic 1, 2, and soon to be 3 available, how bout one that very little have played?
Price: $5.00 or maybe $10.00 (I'd prefer $5.00)
3) Chrono Trigger:
Seeing as how Square is becoming such great friends with Microsoft lately and releasing a number of their games for the 360, Chrono Trigger, probably one of their best games ever, deserves a spot in the Arcade. This game was epic with great gameplay, an epic story, and even multiple endings. This game would be awesome to have on my 360 (or PS3 and Wii, if they're not on there already). The Arcade could use a few more RPGs too.
Price: $5.00 or maybe even $10.00
2) Goldeneye:
Another great game made by Rare from the N64. This game was planned for the Arcade at one point with updated graphics and even online play but Rare apparently didn't have the license. On top of that, Microsoft and Nintendo had a disagreement over the game being on the 360 as well. I really hope they can solve this dispute and end up releasing this game on both consoles if they have to, just as long as I get to play this great FPS online.
Price: $15.00
AND THE NUMBER 1 GAME THAT I WANT IN THE XBLA IS.....
1) Rocket Knight Adventures remake:
With a remake for Turtles in Time in the works for the Arcade and possibly Wiiware, what should Konami do next? I would say a remake from one of my favorite games on the Genesis and possibly all time. A port of the original game would be nice but if they remade the game with better graphics and more levels (like Capcom did to Bionic Commando), that would be the best game on the Arcade EVER!!!
Well, Sparkster (the main character) made an appearance in another Konami game for the DS called "New International Track & Field" so there might be some hope.
Price: For the original, $5.00. For a remake, $10.00
I know there's probably some games that I missed but these are just games that I would love to see downloadable for the Xbox 360 or maybe other consoles would be good too.
