Rellington's Blog
-
17Sep 06Well, it's been quite some time since I've done a blog, almost two months in fact. The reason for the delay is just that I've been busy. Between work and
games, I just haven't had the time, or the motivation to blog. But at 1:30 in the morning after having Titan Quest crash to the desktop on me....... I suddenly had the urge to post.
For awhile now I been doing the Guitar Hero updates and I think it's time
to bring it to a close. I'm still playing off and on whenever I'm bored
of "normal" games, and whenever I have company. But since my previous
blog I have.................
Final Epic Mind-Blowingly Era-Ending Awesome Post -
The Battle Axe is mine....mwahahahaha!
So with that out of the way I'm thinking of getting a Total Access
subscription going. I let my plus sub die out a few months ago and
haven't gotten around to renewing. And maybe grabbin myself a shiny new web cam while I'm at it.....video blogs anyone?
Well that's all I got for now. If by chance I do grab that subscription and camera, I'll probably open with one of those completely original game collection blogs, followed by one of those even more original gaming set-up ones.

Well It's been a while and alot has happened since my last truly epic post, so without further adieu, and even epic'er then before.......
Epic Post #7 - Finished Medium with 5 stars on everything, including the bonus songs.
Epic Post #8 - Finished Hard with mostly 5 stars.
Epic Post #9 - Have gotten through most songs on Expert, except for No One Knows (Surprise!) and have now returned to 5 star the odd songs or two on Hard.
Epic Post #10 - Something I'm worried about is that I haven't even started to use Hammer On's and Off's. Seems the notes go by so fast during expert solos that I just wail away at the strum bar. Maybe once I get used to the insane speed I might be able to set em up, but for now just strumming like crazy lets me hit about 60% of the notes during the solos.
Well that's is what I have accomplished in the last 20 days since my last posts. For a week I didn't even touch the game but once I picked it up again, it was like a craving. Been playing it non stop since Friday.- Posted Aug 1, 2006 10:55 am PT

Epic Post #3 - A day later and No One Knows still kicks my ass.
Epic Post #4 - I've developed a blister on my thumb from constant strumming.
Epic Post #5 - No One Knows make me wanna slit my wrists emo-style.
Epic Post #6 - That was a joke......

I'm starting a miniseries of blog posts chronicling my epic journey into Guitar Hero.
Epic Post #1 - Finished easy on all 5 stars.
Epic Post #2 - No One Knows kicks my ass on medium. Been stuck at 4 stars for an hour and a half.- Posted Jul 10, 2006 1:53 pm PT

I just finished my first blog banner. Same deal as last time, this is from a painting of artist Todd Lockwood. Cover art for the same book series also.
Tips from more seasoned photoshop users would be great, I still cant figure out the best way to cut things from a picture. Magnetic Lasso is a bit too random.
Well I guess that's all, leave any feedback you want.
Update: I just updated my profile banner as well.
Here for comparison are the originals:

8Jun 06My B-Day is just around the corner and I'm having a hard time deciding between a PS2(whom I shamefully sold 3 years ago and now I want Guitar Hero, Subsistence, God of War, and others), or the DS Lite( which not owning a portable for quite awhile and seeing the innovative games that are coming out has my interest peaked) which hits Canada on the 11th.
Well, if anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear em!
Im kinda leaning toward the PS2 because Guitar Hero just looks so phenomenal, and Guitar Hero 2 is just around the corner.- Posted Jun 8, 2006 5:49 pm PT

There it is, my first creation I have ever done in photoshop. I was getting sick of just a black bar for my banner, so I did something about it.
The background is a little risky, but it is my first time.
I also cut out a part of a painting by Todd Lockwood, showing dark elf hero Drizzt Do'urden.
Im an avid fantasy reader, so I chose one of my favourite forgotten realms characters.
Those who have played the Baldur's Gate games may recognise the name as well.
So thats it, leave feedback if you wish, or tips for those who are more experienced with photoshop then myself.
Update: I just updated my banner, making it a little more professional looking. I also added a blog banner.- Posted May 14, 2006 7:51 pm PT

Well the last few hours have definitely counted as the low point of this month, and probably will remain as such for the rest of May.
After dropping the money for a plus account earlier today, I eagerly awaited the seven o'clock eastern stream of the Sony Press Conference..... in HD!
Well along comes 7 pm and all I got was a horrible best buy commercial. And thats all I continued to get for 2 hours, long after the conference started after its 30 minute delay.
So I after already trying the steps in the streaming sticky (even though I have never had a problem streaming before) I created a thread that had 1 admin response extremely early telling me to refresh the page......then nothing for about an hour.
Then another admin chimed in to my almost two page thread full of people with similar problems.
He supplied a link to the streaming sticky!
So I thought "Hey what could it hurt?"
Hmm turns out downloading a codec pack recommended by a bunch of users can make all of the videos unplayable.
Great! So uninstalling the codec package should fix the issue, right?
Nope! Now its almost 4 hours since I soo eagerly awaited the conference and I wont even be able to watch the replay.
Gamespot's tech support needs to get their ass in gear.
UPDATE: Well about 3 pm the site magically fixed and I was able to watch anything......wierd. So I watched through the conferences and so far so good.
UPDATE 2: Will I thought I should post another update, even though it's a little late. On thurday or friday gamespot updated their tech support sticky, and it included a fix for my live streaming issues. So i was able to watch the last 2 days live e3.- Posted May 8, 2006 7:44 pm PT

The first inductee into my personal Hall Of Fame is.......
<<<<< BRAVEHEART >>>>>
Genre: Historical Action
Plot: William Wallace fights the English for the freedom of Scotland.
Cast : Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, and Brendan Gleeson.
Rating: R
Comment: This movie is definitely in my top 5. It's the only movie that has had me on the verge of shedding a tear. I dont know why, but the famous "Freedom!" scene makes me want to weep like a woman.

I thought I'd start my blog posts with something non-gaming related, so here is the first entry into Rellington's Top Movies!
Anyone can see my ratings for games from the bar at the top and since their is no moviespot I'll post em here.
Movies play a big part in my free time along with games and music so I will probably do the same with music as well.
Well, without further delay......- Posted Feb 23, 2006 9:36 pm PT
