Bad Week Is Over+Update
Howdy Everyone,
How coincidental I wrote of death not long ago...My grandfather had a stroke last week and died on Sunday, he was 84 and lived a great life. At the funeral I realized he was always smiling, that is a great way to live. His ashes were interred today and now we just move on. I will miss him, at the luncheon after his viewing is when I really noticed he was gone, he was always the first person to a family event. I am sad he is gone, but not too sad, not even mourning. His stroke hit him pretty hard, he would not have lived the life he loved-nor could he have it was that harsh. I just take solace in knowing he has no more health problems and that he is resting peacefully now, hard to be sad then...
Instead of another dissertation about death, what about life? We've all heard that question "What is the meaning of life?" if you ask most people they will tell you that they don't know or that they wish they knew. If you were to ask "If you had to say what it was, what is the meaning of life?" I am willing to bet you would get a different answer each time-that is why I say: We already know what the meaning of life is.
How would it be possible for there to be just ONE universal meaning to life? That seems rather unlikely given that there are so many people in this world right as of this moment, countless more that have died, and countless more that have yet to be born. To think that there is one meaning of life is to say we all have the same expectations and purpose, I simply don't believe that. We all do our own things our own way and get to different places in life, even if those places are similar. Even if there was one meaning of life, it could be achieved in so many ways, with that being the case there is some room for change.
To me at least, the meaning of life is whatever life means to you. Whatever motivates you to get up in the morning, to be a good person (or bad person for that measure), whatever gets you to continue to live-that is meaning. With all the pain and hardship in life, why not give up? If we did not have meaning, we would indeed give up. Though for so many there is something big or small that has such a profound meaning that it drives us to go on and do what it takes to survive. Even if a person lives in their parents basement, they still eat, drink, and stay alive-the only motivation to do that is meaning. Though I would hope more would aspire to do much more than wasting away in one's home doing little of anything, I cannot criticize someone if that gives them meaning, but there is so much more to life than sitting around and waiting for it to come to you.
To sum it up, find your own meaning-and you have to find it yourself. If you wait around for life to find you, I have a feeling you may end up waiting forever.
UPDATE: On 7-10-09 I completed Ninja Gaiden 2 on Warrior mode. I posted my review of the game as well-to put it mildly...I HATE THAT ******* GAME! Have a lovely day.

Independence Day
Howdy
Did you honestly think I wouldn't write about my nation's 233 birthday?
On July 4, 1776 we signed the Declaration of Independence which bascially told England to go to Hell-we are doing things our way now. A spirit which has endured since then.
It is pretty incredible when you think about it, a colony stood up and took on the mightiest nation in the world. We did get some help from the French who went on to become the world's greatest cowards.
Today Mrs. Regulator and I attended a protest against the gross abuses of our government. It is a right given in our Constitution so when we as people do not agree with our government we have to let them know. That works for both sides, people seem to have forgotten that our elected officials are supposed to LISTEN to us! We hired them we can fire them, to quote one Dave Mustaine: "It's still we the people..right?"
We will be having a cookout later and we got some little fireworks to set off. That being said, I truly HATE IT when the news media shows firecrackers blowing apart hands made out of hotdogs and watermellons. Last time I checked, the human hand is much more durable than hotdogs or mellons. I will be the first to say that fireworks can harm people-BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE STUPID. Moral of the story, don't be drunk and light off fireworks. Don't do anything stupid with them, and use them as directed and you will not get burned and/or maimed.
I certainly wish all Americans here a happy Independence Day and to all my friends in Canada, Europe, and everywhere else, I hope your weekende is going well.
PS I have reached level 8 on Ninja Gaiden 2-enemies with rocket launchers that fire multiple missiles at once, so cheap it is disgusting. Be ready for my review of the game-its getting hammered. Also, check out my review of Last Remnant I was not kind.

Thanks and Follow Up+Bad News
First off, thanks to everyone who posted and/or read my last blog. I put a lot of effort into it and it seemed to go over well. If anyone ever has any ideas for me, please send them on.
Grim Reaper was busy this week, now Billy Mays is gone. He was from a town near mine and by all accounts he was a good man. If you watch the show "Pitchmen" you will see he was a family man, he worked very hard at his job, and showed the utmost respect to those people who spent so much in time and money to create products. He will be missed.
It is kind of creepy, we've all seen this before, someone is alive one minute and gone the next. We've seen it enough times and after you get to a certain age you realize that this applies to you too. Any one of us can go at anytime, as such it makes you think of that age-old question: "If it was your last day, what would you do?" I think how you answer is more important than what you answer. The details of what you would do are rather inconsequential in my opinion.
Sure it would be great to go skydiving, hang out with the family, get utterly drunk, or ask Megan Fox to get freaky-but that kind of answer says a lot. I would think the people that give you a laundry list of things they haven't done or wish that they did really aren't living now. Sometimes money, time, and opportunity separate us from certain goals, but not always. I find excuses are most often the culprit in pursuing ones goals. I think the person who wouldn't know what to do on their last day, or the one who would do something they normally do have the right idea. Life need not be exciting to be fulfilling.
Though there is wisdom in the example, most times people list off all the things they truly want to do or wish they did and many of those things are quite within reach. If we are only here for a short time, why in the hell wait? Patience is overrated.
If you want to ask someone out but are afraid, do it-"no" is hardly an answer that will kill you. Want to go on vacation? Do it, if you have the cash go-stop making excuses. Want to get in shape? Forget waiting for the right time, if you wait the right time will never come. This is not an excuse to do whatever one pleases, going into debt is always bad and asking a biker's girlfriend out is hazardous, but it is not the particulars that matter but the philosophy behind them-"There is no time like the present."
Remember that there is nothing in this world more expensive than regret. If there is something in your life that is conflicting you whether you should do it or not, ask yourself what would you regret the most (in before any illegal activities). Think about it, 20 years from now will you think back to now and wish you could tell yourself what to do? Save yourself the grief and talk to yourself about it now.
UPDATE (7-1-09): I will be absent from GS for some timeas my grandfather had a stroke and is dying, there is no saving him and I must tend to family matters.
