*Light Vs Darkness who Wins?

Heart of Darkness, only a handful of U guys might have heard of it, It was a 2D side-scroller game which was good in almost All aspects! I cant remember how we came across this game, but we always would ask our father to get the game, After a lot of waiting and searching we finally got our hands on the game! We didnt see even a single video of it, and niether did we play its demo, but we were all excited as if we've been searching for the game ever since the beginning of time We hurriedly turned on the PC and then Put the CD in. There was a trailer in the CD of the game, after seeing it our excitement grew even more! If U watched the trailer above, U will see that it has a very great effort put into it. the game trailer makes u want to think its a MOVIE trailer. We then started installing the game and we were just staring at the progress bar progress and reach 100%, we even saw those pics in the background which told us what to do in order to jump long distances and all that.Soon our excitement stopped... why U ask? the progress bar reached 90% and then it showed an Error.. something about a file being corrupt and all that. there were two options, retry and ignore. We pushed retry, and the same thing game again, we did this multiple times but to no avail. we were just sitting there pushing retry and trying to see if it installs, but it didnt we then pushed ignore, and then after the installation finished the game would not start at all we were so hart broken. we didnt know what to do! we even tried copying the CD onto hard disk but even the copying gave an error! And there was No other place which had the game and that was like the only one that we could find We had the game in our hands but couldnt play it. it was such a sad moment for us.

We later, thought that it was the CD Drive Problem, and we anted to get the old 16X CD drive changed into those New 24X CD drives!(ZOMG such high Speedz!) We just made ourselves think that the CD drive was the main problem. This was way back in 99, that time the computer repair man came with a new CD drive, he was putting it in and we were standing there watching how he was putting in the CD drive and all that.. and the FIRST thing we made him do was try installing the game and SO he did...We then again watched the progress bar move up percentages, and then reached the 90% mark and the SAME error came! We were flabbergasted! We didnt know what to say! I shouted "U gave us a BAD CD Drive!" The Repair guy didnt understand why we were so emotional and then pressed retry! and The Thing INSTALLED!!!!! It was MAGIC! we just couldnt believe ourselves! We dancing with joy! The repair guy was moving the mouse hither to thither and also in circles when the game was being installed, we thought it was some kid of magic thing.. and from then whenever we wanted something to be done we used to move the mouse in circles Even when our Internet was slow, we would move the mouse thinking that the page would load faster(and also believed it worked for a long time :lol but later when we grew more analytically, we started thinking he was just doing that to see if the PC crashed, coz if it was not that, then he must have been a Crazy dude(for his age, thinking like what we thought )

So, The game was installed, What now??? PLAYING the game of course! We knew that it was horror themed game and hence I sat on the side wathcing my bro play it There was not way that I would play horror games when I was small. The games intro was too good! It really made us get very excited about the game, Since we were kids it appealed a lot to us. The game was a sidescroller type game which had Many puzzles, and action sequences... The game starts with ur Dog "whisky" being taken away during a Solar Eclipse, U then go towards the eclipsed sun in ur jet/Plane/Car hybrid and end up in a completelyy different world. The game doesnt explain much and leaves u with ur Gun and helmet near a canyon where U plane crashes(which blasts as soon as U get off it). The nest scene U see a Shadow Creature(kinda like the ones U see in ICO) We were just looking at what it was and didnt know what to press and soon it ate us! It was so scary.. they were completelyy Black with greenish-yellow Eyes.In the second screen itself U had HORDES and HORDES of these black guys attacking u, we had no Idea what to do and were just blasting here and there, getting eaten again and again. After a LOT of retries(this was one fo the First games we played which had no Chances/Lives in it, which was a VERY good and required thing) Later we found a place where a SHADOW was killing us! only after dieing plenty of times we realised that we had to kill the things that project the shadows to save ourselves, Then there was this Puzzle where there was Dinosaur ribs on the FAR left corner and we had to catch that and climb to the top, but it was Too hard to reach no matter how much we ran and tried to catch the thing we always fell off the canyon.. not knowing what to and getting mad.. we were pressing all buttons and then realised that we had to jump on the platform we were standing(which was a very OLD rock) and it falls off bringing the tail of the dinosaur up and we catch that thing Now HOW in the World were we supposed to figure that out??

*Jabba's Got Butt?

There were many other situations like that.A huge jabba type charcter eats our gun and helmet and we have to start running like hell to prevent being eaten by those shadow creatures(which burn up when in light) later there were things Like Venus fly traps Octupuessess() and many other strange creatures which blocked out path.. the game was just NOT my cup of tea as it had lot of Horror parts and also it required a LOT and LOT LOT patience! My bro was well suited for it Sometimes I couldn't even watch when he played Later my bro progressed far into the game but one time we had to format our system and then all the save files were lost.. we basically spend LOADS of hours playing it so we didnt feel like returning to it

But on the other hand the Game had pretty neat graphics! and the character animations were very high standard, the Audio was great and how the game played was also great! it looked as if though 1 Million dollars were spent on making the game No matter how frustrating it was.. it was still a very great game to play, and If U have the time, u should surely try it out once
