All About Primenova

    1st entry-

Been a member for a while now. This will be the first blog post, and today you kids get a review of the 360 demo for FEAR.

The 360 demo takes place in the same part of the game as the PC demo.  I have played the PC demo and own the full version of the game. My laptop can play the game with decent speeds in 1024x780 with medium settings across the board, 2x antialiasing and soft shadows turned off.  This is as close as my 'top can come to the 360 version without becoming agonizingly slow, and at these settings, the 360 kicks my laptop's a$$.

The 360 version is lower resolution, with probably what compares to a mix of medium high-to-high PC settings.   Control is good with the 360 pad, although the final version needs to allow custom controls-I found myself using med kits by hitting the Y button on accident way too often.

Control with the sticks is a little loose, but this can be fixed with an option to adjust sensitivity.  Also, I hope you can still adjust the difficulty.  While the AI seems largely intact from the PC version of the game, enemies died way to easy.  Overall, the game seemed just a bit crisper on the laptop, which is due to the higher resolution and LCD widescreen of my laptop, and the fact that my 360 is hooked up to an SDTV.  Overall, I'd say that it should compare favorably, much in the same way Oblivion does.  I'll give the demo an 8.4, on the hopes the slight control issues are fixed with the option to manage your button config and sensitivity of the analog sticks in game. If that and the difficulty are improved, I'll give it a 9.  Stay tuned for a review of the retail version for 360.
