PS3 & PSP: The Long Road Ahead

We will go the distance! We will take control! We will continue to believe!

In no way am I a fanboy, instead I'm just a consumer that wants to see his money go places. With the bad economy and in an effort to get a better car I sold my 360 thinking that PS3 would benefit me in the end. I did the same with my PSP and my DS.

And trust me I did a lot of thinking before deciding which ones to give up and which to keep. But with the amazing love that I found in my PS2 and the great technology of the PS3 and PSP, I stuck with those.

Problem. As it stands they are both currently broken. Both actually being Sony's fault being so I tried to download firmware updates and it crashed both systems. MircoTendo's revenge I guess?

    PS3 and PSP

Now I thought this wasn't that bad, but since I haven't been able to come up with the money yet, (I will by the holiday season) I haven't had anything to play at all. Leaving me to seriously consider leaving Sony forever. It didn't help that over the months that both systems lay broken and unused that Microsoft effectively took two more Sony exclusives including the major Final Fantasy XIII away as well. Xbox began to look like a clear winner in the console war with more developers finding it "easier" to make games for it and exclusivity dying down. Lets face it, Xbox is on top. (You can't count Wii cause their games sucks 'cept for a handful and the only reason why its winning in sales is because parents like the cheapness of it.) Gears and Fable only helped them more, and with a better version (performance wise) of Fallout 3 it seems to be taking it all in a stride.

    But I believe.

Sony may face it's problems, developers may say it's too hard to create games for, hell they may lose all of their exclusive rights, but I can guarantee you that Sony will not lose this war. Even if HOME takes another year, even if the good games take longer, there is no denying that Sony is the future. It's just taking it's time to get there thats all. Yes I will be re-buying an Xbox (the Elite this time) that won't be until later, much later actually because Sony still has a lot of potential that hasn't even been untapped.

This is my final belief in Sony, and this time I know they're coming through.

Resident Evil is racist? Give me a break!

I thought I'd start off my return to gamespot blogging with the controversy that everyone has already heard about. Resident Evil 5 takes central place in Africa. So f-ing what! You've probably all heard about the blog by the woman who claims that the game is racist because of the fact that there is a white man shooting black people depicted as savages. (Really they're just zombies like the other people in RE games)

    If you haven't here's a link:  http://www.blacklooks.org/2007/07/resident_evil_5.html

    OK........

As a black male myself I can't see why she would do this. When everyone saw this game, no one was like oh it's racist because they were zombies. Zombies are like companies that state that they're equal opportunity hirer's. They know no bounds, race, sex or religion. If zombies were real they wouldn't just go for White, Hispanic, Asian and then automatically stop for Black people. They eat them up too! It's obvious she never played or even researched about the other RE games, and it's even more obvious that she has a one track mind where she believes her opinion is right.

But I have a problem with this because I am black.

In a world where racism finally has a possibility to die out with a generation this lady has proved that people won't let stuff go for the good of everybody. In fact she's been more racist herself by seeing racism where there was none and basically saying that white people are evil and the game developers all have a grudge against black people.

I hope CAPCOM doesn't pay this any mind because in no way is this game racist, especially when Chris Redfield's partner Shiva is black and also happens to be killing the same ZOMBIES, not people, but ZOMBIES that Chris is.

I pray that racism and sexism die out but I fear it won't if people are gonna bring up stupidity over little things that don't matter. Hopefully nothing else happens when the game actually comes out this coming March.

I Have PS3 and Xbox 360...So why am I so bored?

I don't know how it happened, or even how I was able to afford it, but as of the end of 2006 I found myself on the outside looking in. Most of my friends had a 360 and when PS3 and Wii came out those were aquired by many people that I knew as well. Everyone had one and I had nothing, stuck with my PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. I had been in this situation before with the three previous systems but these, they were just too expensive. I mean $60 bigs for a game, half a thou for the system, excluding the Wii which you can't find anyway, it was too much. So I saved, not for the systems themselves but because I have enough clothes and stuff that I didn't need to buy anything. But then it happened, PS3's sales were low, extremely low for Sony standards and I found myself looking a two price drops, one for a PS3 looking to get more sales and one for a 360 trying to make sure Sony didn't get ahead. Eventually I found myself in a situation that had me looking at a $750 dollar price tag for the two of them instead of $1100 and a big smile for saving my money. With both in my possession I began to marvel at the amazing graphics and quality of certain games (be careful to read and find out as much info as you can or you'll lose a lot of money) like that of Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Mass Effect, COD 4, Assassins Creed, GOW, Halo 3, DMC 4 and the beautifully long Oblivion. Yet as time when on I felt something missing. Is it just me or are the only games on this list that have reply value Halo and COD 4? (I'd say Oblivion but thats well worth the money seeing as it never really ends).

I found little left in AC and Uncharted and Heavenly Sword was over before I could blink. I only say Halo and COD4 (Xbox Version) because they have good and hard achievement points and the online is very well done. With the exception of other good titles on both systems (Madden 08, Forza 2, NBA 2K8, Ninja Gaiden) if you go to any place that sells games half the stuff up there is crap. Now I know both systems have a lot of life left in them but still I remember a time where PS2 would have amazing games and Xbox would save us from bordem yet both of those systems ended up with more trash and only a handful of games that were excellent.

I wrote before, a long while ago about how I went looking for a Wii and came back with a PS3 instead. I regret it a little. Why, well for a couple of reasons. One I have a lot of friends who not only do I play a lot of games with but most of them on Wii's. Two No More Heroes and Super Smash Bros. both came out with exceptional reviews and those were the top games that I wanted to play. Three for a Wii, Zelda, Smash Bros., No More Heros and Super Mario Galaxy, I could buy for the same, KEYWORD same amount of money for my PS3! My store discount at FYE would allow that to happen and since I'm 19 believe me I need a store discount. So what the hell was I thinking, I can't find a Wii, not even at my job and we recieved more to sell then Best Buy and Circuit City did in my area.

Ah well, here's to hoping a Wii finds it's way over to me so I can once again own all three systems like the generation before them. Ironically this is the same thing that happened to me back then. I got bored with PS2 and GC and Xbox came out with exclusives like KOTOR, KOTOR II, Ninja Gaiden and Fable and I needed saving. Although this time I'm sure, Wii will definitely do some saving. Till then of to my friends dorm I go...
