Say What Now?
So I'm bored, not much to do here at the work place but look outside the window and stare at freedom. Ok its really not all that bad but its boring. Well I do have tons of time to work on my levels though so if I really wanted to I could entertain myself. I've been making levels with a few different games for a little while now. I'm going to school to be a game designer and for the last two years have been trying to figure out what field I really wanted to go into. So I finally admitted to myself that I suck at modeling. I enjoy animation but it was such a pain in 3ds max that I said screw that. I really like particle effects and such but that requires some extreme photo shop skills which I lack.
So recently I had a level design class that surprised me at how much I enjoyed creating levels. At first I thought I was no good at it because when it comes to environments my creativity is next to none. I'm creative when it comes to thinking up a world but when it comes time to give that world a landscape I just couldn't make it look how I wanted to. So I'm finally getting over that and I'm enjoying making me some maps using The Hammer World Editor for Half-Life 2. So far I made only a couple of maps with it then I started using Max to make some. Slowly but surely I'm thinking level design is the field for me. Now the next step is to just get out of school and find a decent place to work that is somewhere close to home. Unfortunately there are no game studios in Louisiana.
