Collection Edits + Ranting and Raving + Pre-Order

Well, Wario Land Shake It!, Halo, Tony Hawk's Proskater 4, and The Urbz are no longer in my collection of video games. I at least got $25 (USD) for Wario, Halo only fetched me $3, The Urbz got me $1, and THPS4 brought in a pathetic $0.50. Thanks Gamespot. On the other hand, I purchased Disgaea DS and all I can say is HOLY CRAP THIS A KICKASS GAME.

For those of you who are not familiar with Disgaea, it hit stores in 2003 with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PS2. A sequal followed in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (PS2) and most recently Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice (PS3). Hour of Darkness has been relased as an enhanced port on the PSP and now as a remake on the DS.

So it's a strategic grid-based RPG. Seen it before right? Now lets add in the bazillion complex mechanics, rediculously deep party creation system, a large selection of weapons each with varying stats (even if they have the same name they often have different stat boosts), an interactive and beneficial legislature (you can try to pass bills to get better items in shops and stuff like that), and goofy anime quirkiness that isn't as annoying as the average goofy anime quirkiness. I'm hooked. Sorry NAS, I won't be as active for awhile.

Pre-ordered Banjo-Kazzoie: Nuts n' Bolts. So I'll be getting Banjo-Kazooie XBLA for free. And it has achievements. And I met the criteria for almost all of them on my N64 copy. Hell yeah.

Disgaea DS or Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time?

I'm thinking of getting a new game to replace Wario Land Shake It!. Nothing is grabbing my attention so I'm thinking a good 'ole RPG is in order. Give me your thoughts.

Additions + Complaints + Any Suggestions?

Well, I had my dad pick up Wario Land Shake It! for me on Wednesday. He also picked up Beatutiful Katamari as a Christmas present for my sister (she's been wanting it for like a year)! It was a used copy so of course I had to test it, just so we wouldn't get stuck with a crappy disc after the return policy was void. And then I did more than testing. I played the whole way through. Awesome game, although I haven;'t played the others so I can't comapre it to them. My sister won't even know we have it until Jesus Day. hehehe

Wow, Wario Land Shake It! is underwhelming to say in the least. Sure the graphics are awesome, the music is mostly enjoyable, and the gameplay is generally fun. That said I've got a lot of complaints. Most of the challenges require numerous tries, usually involving you trekking a long distance with precise platforming and wasting a lot of time every time you screw up. That gets old FAST. The game is really short and I was tired of playing it by the time I got to the final boss. And speaking of, I reached the "second stage" of said boss fight, got hit by one of his attacks and then subsequently got locked up in the rest of his attacks that followed. I couldn't even try to dodge them. That was the final straw. I'm all for challenging games, but there was absolutely nothing I could do. There's a certain point where a game becomes too difficult to be fun and Wario Land Shake It! definately crosses it. Could I have eventually beaten the Shake King? Probably. Was I willing to waste my time on a game I was no longer enjoying just to say I beat it? Hell no.

And I also forgot that if you aren't holding the Wiimote at the right angle (towards you) the tilt control craps out. I don't know if that's a limitation of the programming or the Wiimote itself. Either way it made me choose between laying back while holding it akwardly or sitting up (which is not as comfortable as laying back). I guess it doesn't really matter because neither felt that great. Catch 22.

So I'm trading it in. I'm not sure on what I should get next, any suggestions?
