    Annoying Acheivements!!!!

As with all my games I like to attempt and get as many of the acheivements as possible, that way I feel I've really played a game for all its worth, my friends can then see what I'm accomplished on a game and vice versa. I understand some acheivements may beyond my skill level or be too time consuming for me to attempt however I do try and get as many as possible before getting rid of a game.

However recently some acheivements created by developers have really started to annoy the hell out of me!

Personally I believe game achievements should generally come in three categories and will demonstrate this by using Fallout 3 as an example:

    1) Story completion achievements - achievements for completing a task, level or the entire story of game (Fallout and many other games have achievements like this)

    2) Fun achievements - stuff that isn't really taxing and that anyone can do but is fun and adds enjoyability to a game (Fallout 3 has the Psychotic Prankster where the player must place a grenade or mine while pickpocketing on another individual).

    3) Skill based achievements - reaching a certain level or performing a certain task a number of times.

However recently I have a played games like GTA4 where I had to find two hundred pigeons, I found 198 and then had to go through again to try and find them (Is it possible for anyone to find 200 pigeons without a guide???), and Assassin's Creed where several achievements require the locating of several hundred flags. Why are these achievements made? They're not fun, nor does the satisfactory in completing them come anywhere close to the amount of time it takes to get them. I can understand some people playing games relentlessly to unlock these achievements however to me I'd prefer something that isn't a complete waste of time but at the same time is challenging.

What's everyone Else's thoughts of these kind of achievements?
