E3 2011 Press Conferences Opinions.

I have watched all the conferences now and I wanted to give my opinions on them. (Yes, I know it a little late for this.)

6. Konami

They had their taped in show before E3 showing off several games like the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater for 3DS and Pro Evolution Soccer 2012. They announced Zone of the Enders HD Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360, which is great. The only really exciting part for me in the conference is the new Silent Hill: Downpour and Never Dead. The "transfarring" service sounds interesting with you transferring you saves to and from PS3, PSP and PSvita but if you have to buy the game twice then I don't know if it going to catch on. Overall the conference was ok.

5. EA

They showed some really exciting games like Mass Effect 3(Get ready It's the year of the 3s!), Battlefield 3, and Overstrike. FIFA 2012 gets the interesting football club social online service and make me want the game. In contrast they didn't really talk in dept about Madden 2012 which making me not want it. I think the game I'm excite the most from their conference is the Need for Speed: The Run because I like that constant race and be chase style even while on foot across the country. SSX is back! and this is my runner up in being excited about from this conference. I don't think The Sims social is my cup of tea. Star Wars: The Old Republic looks good when it going to come out, since this was shown last year's E3. Overall EA had a really good conference.

4. Nintendo

They showed only one Wii game which is Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword(which is looking fantastic) and no DS games but they did announced a free Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for the DSiware. On the 3DS is where Nintendo shined this year with Super Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Luigi's Mansion 2, and surprise announcement of Smash Bros.(also on Wii U). Now the Wii U I am still trying to wrap my head around it. The more I think about the more I see potential in it. I am concern the price will the be high for console and for getting additional controllers but I think most games will allow for a variety of controllers choices from Wii mote to Classical Controller to Wii U controller. Also I am concern the that Sony will be able to make the PSvita and PS3 do most the functions of the Wii U though hardware updates. While Playing games on the controller is interesting I think using it as a 2nd screen or window like in the Motion Tracker in Aliens: Colonial Marines and that golf demo is what going to be the its strongest point. Nintendo is getting some 3rd party support for the Wii U with games like Tekken, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Assassin's Creed, Batman: Arkham City, and Dirt. Overall Nintendo had a good conference but I am disappointed with them not showing more Wii and DS games especially when there are Wii and DS games coming like Kriby's Mass Attack(DS) and Mario Party 9(Wii), they just didn't show it at the conference.

3.Microsoft

Call of Duty: MW3(yep) look great no real surprise about that but the new Tomb Raider looks awesome. It looks like it going to be deep and shows how Lara gets molded into what she is in the classic series. The only thing about it is I was feeling slightly weird (I guess I have a not so clean mind lol) with the groans, moans, and screams in the demo. Some of the Kinect integrated games looks interesting like Forza 4's head tracking (and maybe combine that with some wheel and petal setup), Mass Effect 3's voice commands, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's gunsmith and gun controls, and Fables: The Journey's horse steering and magic conjuring. I think the true strength of Kinect will be how games will use it in a natural way perhaps while still using a controller. The Disneyland Kinect also looks interesting walking around the park and mini games. Sesame Street: Once upon a Monster looks very interactive in a great way with following along with Elmo and Cookie Monster. The Kinect Sports Season 2 looks the same as the first one and the football game is not impressing me through the golf looks good. Dance Central 2 and Kinect Star Wars are looking like there are the best pure Kinect games. I wasn't expecting Halo 4 or the Halo: Combat Evolved remake so I would like to see how 343 Industries(at least they have a 4 between those 3's) handle the Halo series. Overall Microsoft had a pretty great conference.

2. Ubisoft

Rayman: Origins is my most excited about game from the Ubisoft conference. The HD 2d platforming action is just fantastic. I really like Driver: San Francisco going back to the stunts, racing and having a 70's style. By the way I like the humorous retro take on their games through out the conference. Far Cry 3(pattern yet?) looks pretty fantastic with the whole escape from the island(Lost?) dealing with crazy people. The gameplay looks fluid with shooting and using some stealth. Brothers in Arms: Furious 4(they meant the Furious 5 right?) look interesting but I need to see gameplay to get more excited about it. The Adventures of TinTin: The Game looks great with graphics straight from the movie and with 3d platforming gameplay. Ghost Recon: Future Solider is yet another game that looks fantastic with gunsmith, tactical, cool invisible cameo, co-op, and shooting gameplay. This looks like it with also have a strong online multiplayer. Trackmania 2: Grand Canyon looks good to bad I couldn't hear them talk about since their audio were down. The Raving Raddids Alive and Kicking uhmm . . . no comment(I would like to kick one, though.). Rocksmith is interesting especially because of using true to life instruments and learning how to actually play. Just Dance 3(*coughs*) just look like more of the same. Assassin's Creed: Revelations is yet another game that looks fantastic continuing the open world roof-to-roof and action gameplay(with a freaking authentic to history boat flamethrower!). Overall Ubisoft had a really great conference they showed some fantastic looking games that got me excited me. They basically brought the games.

1. Sony

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception(too many 3's!) is looking incredible with the action gameplay and story. The way the boat moves even inside the boat it feels like you are on a boat and the way Drake moves around and handles enemies by stealth and shooting is fantastic. The graphics are also incredible, the water, the shadows, the detailing, the characters. Resistance 3(last 3?) is also looking fantastic with both gameplay and graphics. The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection will be great and very immersive especially in HD and 3d(more 3s, although that $500 3d TV bundle is a good deal). God of War Origins Collection looks very good as well. I don't think the NBA 2K12 using PS move is good but without the move it looks great. The new Sly Cooper being announced caught me off guard it really sucks that we have to wait to next year for it. Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest really looks interesting the way you control your weapons and solve puzzles with motion. Starhawks…space, transforming robots, western cowboy shooter, let that sink in for a moment(sound like an anime to me, how about you?). Yeah, it interesting indeed. Another fantastic looking game is BioShock: Infinite using the sky system(motion sickness?) to get around and style of the game looks pretty unique with deco, futuristic(modern), Victorian, post-war kind of style(hard to place the style). Star Trek shaping up to be great. The main thing that gave Sony the push to be the best conference to me is the Playstation Vita. Now we already knew a lot but it like the cameras, a crisp beautiful touch oled screen, motion controls capabilities, and wifi with a 3G+wifi sku but we learned of the price competitive set at $250 and $300 respectability now this surprising considering with all the technology stuff in this handheld I was thinking that the price would be around $300 to $400. The games they showed running on the system were impressive. Uncharted: Golden Abyss looks like a system seller, simply. ModNation Racers looks great with being able to create more intuitively with the touch screen and touch pads. Also being able to share levels and other content with the PS3 version basically mean have unlimited* (*well, may not be totally unlimited) new levels right out the gate. The same can be said about Little Big Planet. Street Fighter X Tekken is impressive with it basically being the same as the PS3 version even so much so that you will have one profile across the 2 systems and be facing people online playing either system(You might get your butt whooped by someone on PS3 using an arcade stick). To be honest with you the only negative thing I can say about the PSvita is that AT&T is the exclusive 3G carrier for it(I guess Sony didn't learned from Apple). Overall Sony had the best conference because they made me want these impressive games on both systems and to want to get a PSvita.
