I am still around; I am always around, I just don't post much. Noticed that I haven't posted a blog here since October so thought that really should be addressed.

Our winter has been colder than normal. Usually, the Pacific Northwest has very mild weather. But lately our winters are getting a little more... well, more winter-like. It snowed a little almost two weeks ago. We only got about two inches but it hasn't really gotten above freezing so it has not melted! And in some places where the snow did not get, like under the carport, the frost just keeps getting thicker and thicker until it looks a covering of snow!

On the work front, things are going really well. My bosses are celebrating 25 years this February. They are a husband/wife team, and they are the best people to work for. Big boss is a tough but he is fair and compassionate. Little boss is easy to talk to and she is so very creative.

On the personal front, things are also going very well. I never thought I would find someone that I could be so completely me with. I can be so incredibly geeky and that is okay because we can be geeky together! Guess what we did on New Years? We set off fireworks, virtual fireworks, virtual fireworks on Star Wars: The Old Republic. It was a blast!

Speaking of SW:TOR, we have been playing for more than a year and are still going strong. It is a great game, even if we play it more as a co-op game as opposed to a true MMO. I have started grouping up with other people but I still mainly play solo or only with my sweetie. But I am shocked when I hear people talking about the game and say how it is a failure. I wonder how they got that impression, especially when they haven't played it! For example, I had horrible insomnia last night and after hours of not being able to sleep I got up and signed on to the game. I expected the server to be rather quiet (as many of you know, I live on the west coast so, of course, my server of choice is west coast). I was shocked at how busy the server was! Oh, well, people will always talk crap and talk crap about things they know nothing about.

Bodie is as rambunctious as ever, barking at everyone on the trails. He is much calmer in the house, thank goodness. The puppy is very much a TV hound. He loves to sit on the couch and watch TV!

Hey Stranger.  Great blog.  What a nice way to catch up on what's been going on with you.  Things here have not been so great, I wrote a blog about it yesterday.  Cops, guns, arrests, you know a normal week at the stratford house.  Well, McFadden house now since I am officially once again a McFadden.  My drivers license even says so.  My god Bodie is gorgeous.  What a beautiful animal.  You are very lucky and I am thrilled things are going so well for you.

Take care.  I will be around.  I've made a conscious decision to get back here to my friends and get blogging again.  I need the release and I need to know people read it and care what's going on with me.

Oh, no! I went to read your blog after you posted here and I can only think that I am glad that you and Christopher are alright.  Thank goodness you were able to protect yourself.  I think you are a pretty amazing person, but even strong women need a good support system.  Domestic violence creates a very complicated situation - you love the guy but hate him at the same time.

On to more positive things - I think that Halo 4 console is beautiful!!!  My nephew got one for Christmas and I am so jealous.  I got Halo 4 but I am too busy playing older to games to have pulled it out yet.

Bodie is great.  I was worried that I would constantly compare a new puppie to my previous German Shepherd, Willie, but Bodie is unlike any other dog I have ever owned.  While Willie was sweet and gentle, Bodie is definitely schutzhund material!

Hang in there, Kelly, and I hope to see you around Gamespot a lot!

As a fellow TOR player (and subscriber), I can understand the comments.  The game took 200 million to make and sold 80 million worth of copies.  Now, there are monthly fees for subscribers but that is somewhat offset by maintenance and server costs.  While they aren't losing money on keeping the servers open, it seems somewhat doubtful that, even with the new DLC, they're going to break even on this one.

Glad to hear you are doing well :)

I've never played The Old Republic but it looks pretty cool.  I don't think anything that has Star Wars in it will ever be a failure lol

I haven't played The Old Republic but sometimes you can't listen to the MMO community and MMO bashing crowd. I think it can be a case where 10 percent of the people are making 90 percent of the noise. I played WoW for over a year in its prime and there wasn't a single day that went by where multiple people weren't complaining about how much they hated the game on the WoW message boards at Blizzard's site. (Of course, most of those people were currently playing the game, and when someone asked them why they haven't quit, they'd come up with some excuse.) Meanwhile, the game was obviously dominating the market in every way, from quality to popularity to profit. I almost think sometimes people think it's cool to bash current MMOs and talk about how great future MMOs will be, but then when those MMOs come out they bash those too.

WoW is the standard all other MMOs are measured.  The internet seems to breed negativity. :?  I usually try to take everything I read with a grain of salt but it can still be annoying.

sounds like you guys have a happy life - congratulastions -  I am now playing the original KOTOR and the original Torchlight.

as far as not posting much.....there is another site where I got bawled out for only having 11 posts in 4 years.!!

well heck it is a sports forum and I said I only go there to check up on the scores of my favourite football teams and even the most active posters have like 1300 posts in 6 years so it isn't the largest forum around the net.   And also there are only 3 females on the site which gives you an idea of the size of that community.   a very limited interest group about  mideast asian football leagues.

The origianl KOTOR made a huge impact on me.  It was so innovative when it came out and I really became immersed in the gameworld.  And it was the entire reason why I considered playing an MMO at all!

What are his favourite shows?

Well, the other morning he sat and watched Food Network shows for over two hours without moving.  He does not like Animal Planet though--when he sees other dogs on TV, he will run up and bark at the screen!

That's a pretty shepherd there.  I certainly have a soft spot for the breed.

I'm happy to see you check in and it's always nice to know things are going well.

Good to hear from you.  Our winter has been surprisingly warm this season.  We're even looking at 64 on Wednesday!  :o
