    A Very Expensive Month.

Ok, November just started and I'm already planning on having to go without food so I have enough money for games. Looking forward to each new game, and trying desperately to figure out just when I'm going to find the time to play everything.

I've got COD: MW2 Prestige edition, Assassin's Creed 2: Master Edition, and the God of War Collection already pre-ordered. So starting next week I won't be sleeping too much. The new Jak and Daxter just came out, so I need to pick that up as soon as possible. SW: Force Unleashed Sith edition is also out, so I'm going to pick that up too. Since my friend said he'd play Borderlands online w/ me, I have to pick that up too. I wasn't sure about that game, but now that I have someone to play with, it's heading to my collection. I was also thinking about getting Dragon Age: Origins. I have no idea what its about, but I need to look into it. It looks intriguing from what I've seen, and there aren't many games around with such discrepancies between each platform's scores.

    COD:MW2 Prestige Edition for XBOX360 = $150.00

    Assassin's Creed 2 : Master Assassin's Edition for PS3 = $100.00

God Of War: Collection for PS3 = $40.00

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for PSP = $40.00

SW: TFU: Ultimate Sith Edition for PS3 = $40.00

    Borderlands for XBOX360 = $50.00

    Dragon Age: Origins for PS3 = $60.00

    Total = $480.00

I just realized that I need to make time to try out the night vision goggles that come with MW2. That'll be fun.

Just need to work overtime to pay for all this stuff. What the hell, I'll also reserve the God of War 3: Ultimate Edition too. What's another 100 bucks anyway?

    Interesting week.

There has been a lot of news coming out of the gaming industry over the last couple of days. Mostly good news, but as always there is somethign to complain about.Might as well start with the bad, so as to end on a good note.

Although it doesn't directly affect me, the news about GTA4 being censored in Australia is nonetheless distressing. it shows how the world still doesn't respect the video game industry. Hopefully as our generation grows and adopts technology more fully, things like this will cease to happen.

More studies about gamers and their behavior. Gamers that border on "addicted" show the same signs as people with autism? Something about that just doesn't seem right. I admit that lately, games have been slowly taking over my life, despite my desire to resist, but I don't see myself exhibiting the characteristics mentioned in the article. The worst part, is that a majority of the people who see this type of information believe every word of it. Psychology is an imprecise science, so you have to take everything with a grain of salt. (First time I've ever used that expression). I think more research should be going into how to cure things like Asperger syndrome, rather than these inconclusive studies.

Once again, another British reporter is bemoaning video games for their excessive violence. Now, I'm not anti-British or anything, but why does the island nation seem to churn out the most controversy when it comes to the video game industry? I mean, I see a lot of news coming out of Gamespot UK, and its all about how the government is outraged about a new game, or a journalist condemning the gaming industry for all the violence. This latest article talks about the excessive violence in one game, Manhunt 2. The writer talks about the horrible things a player can do, then goes on the say that its the fault of the video game companies that games like it are so accessible to youths. People always blame the companies, rather than those that have a direct link to those that actually play the games. Why no one is blaming the parents has me completely confused. Well, I think I talked about this a little too much, so thats it.

Well, the bad news behind us, lets get to the good things from the past week.

i don't know if this really counts as good news, but its a nice counter to some of the bad articles. A new report found that violent video games may actually make people less angry and less likely to commit violent acts in the real world. Now, as I've said before, I'm a little skeptic about psychological tests and the such, but its finally good to hear a positive result about video games. I may not be a scientist or anything (yet), but I've been saying for several years that I play video games to become more relaxed. I take my anger out in a virtual world, so that I don't end up blowing up in the real world. The same goes with music, T.V., and movies for me. They all help me relax. To some extent, writing this is also helping me vent out frustrations, but not to the degree as the other medias.

With all the talk of company take-overs and the such, it's good to see two major players working together to entertain the gaming masses. For April Fools Day (AFD), Konami and Ubisoft teamed up to showcase what would be a masterpiece of collaboration, if it weren't just some AFD entertainment. "Assassin's Solid" lifted my spirits when I saw it. It portrays MGS's Solid (Old) Snake in attire belonging to Assassin's Creed protagonist Altaїr. The video was simply awe inspiring, and it reminded me that I need to get a job so I can buy the MGS4/PS3 bundle in June.

It's about time I wrapped this up. Two games I'm looking forward to got release dates in the past week. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed got a drop date of September 16, and Mercenaries 2 is set for release on August 31. Of course, delays can always happen, but at least I know that I have time before they come out to get things in order, in terms of money and playing other games.

Now that this has turned more into an essay than a blog, I really need to go. Perhaps I'll make this a weekly thing, but I guess we'll have to wait till next week to find out.
