Best Movie and Games of 2009 (In my Opinion)

So Christmas and New Years 2009 have come and gone. So many cherished memories and fun times with the family. When I look back on 2009 a few games and movies stand out in my mind. Some for being really good, and others for advertised as phenomenal and just end up being okay. Here is a quick list of my 2009 gaming memories...

    1. Modern Warfare 2 - Where ever you go you could not get away from the advertising with this game. We all knew it was coming and we all knew it would sell a boat load of copies. When it finally hit retail at midnight I saw hundredsof people standing outside ofGameSTop's cheering and getting very excited. Most Critics gave this game a 9.5 or 10, and some elements of this game are certainly that. DoI still enjoy playing this game now the hype has died down? Yes, because themulti-player has me hooked and Istill like the storyline of 2 better than the original.Game Score: 9.25/10
    2. Left 4 Dead 2 - I certainly played this first one to death, and that version wasn't even as good as the second. But as of right now I find myself hardly playing it since I can't ignore MW2 for very long. This game is solid and like we all know if you loved the first one this one beats it by a mile. Better guns, Infected, maps, and ammo. This game is kind of what we all expected we would get with a download but $60 later here we are. Game Score: 9/10
    3. Batman: AA - This game really took me by surprise since I am used to playing sub-par super hero games. Batman blends everything so well together I feel like i got a great deal. The atmosphere was great, and the controls were easy to get used to. Funny they already have a sequel on the way but if its as good as this then count me in. Game Score: 9.25/10

Movies that I really enjoyed from 2009

    1. District 9 - This movie had me cheering for the aliens to conquer the humans and that doesn't happen very often. I hope we wouldn't actually be that inhumane and evil if aliens did come to earth seeking a second chance among us. Good acting, and really good special effects. This felt like the underdog movie of the year that just blew up. Movie Score: 9/10
    2. Zombie Land-I can't express enough joy over how great it was to see the zombie genre given a shot of life thanks to two men. Woody Harelson really played his part to perfection and I won't spoil the special guest appearance by one of the all time greats in comedy. It nice to see people getting back to just taking out zombies in fun and inventive ways. This movie will be the pride and joy of my movie collection for years to come. Movie Score: 10/10
    3. Trick r Treat- I know what you are thinking, "Hey, this movie technically shown in theaters before 2009!". Yes, you would be right but only a select few in certain cities were able to get a viewing. So due to technical difficulties this gem wasn't really shown to the mass public till this year on DVD. So many of us have been drooling over the trailer for two years, and this past Halloween we finally were able to call it our own. Was not disappointed at all and now think I have something that can be watched yearly with Wes Craven's "Halloween" on that special night in October. Movie Score: 9/10

So those were just my personal fav's from 09, and I know there were more great games and movies I didn't mention, but I wanted to keep it short and sweet, and also I can't really rave over how great Uncharted 2 was if I never got a chance to play it. Have a great 2010!

    Christmas Time Once Again

This Christmas may not be as big as last years for me and the family, but it is still as much fun. Christmas check list is almost complete: Tree - Check, Shopping - Half Check, Decorations - Check, Christmas Cards - Check, Prestige Mode on MW2 - Check. So it has been a very productive time, and we are not even half way through December.

Since I already purchased Modern Warfare 2 when it came out last month there really isn't much in the line of gaming that i am asking for this Christmas. Left 4 Dead 2 and Batman Asylum are the only two games that even have me interested. Thanks to all the big hitters being pushed back into 2010 (Bioshock 2 mainly) it just doesn't feel like a great gaming Christmas this year. Oh well, at least next year won't be boring.

I believe I have watched every good Christmas movie available so now it comes down to playing a lot of MW2 and keeping that prestige mode going. I actually have been playing a lot better since they took away all my perks for some reason so my Kill/death ratio is slowly improving.

Anyways hope all of you havea Merry Christmas, and for those of you like myself who have birthdays right after Christmas, here's to you!

Zombieland and Trick r Treat short review!

The last 5 days have been pretty sweet. I was able to catch the much anticipated Zombieland movie this weekend and as of yesterday I was able to buy Trick r Treat on DVD. Both movies lived up to the expectations and I can't wait to own Zombieland on DVD.

Starting with Zombieland, I really enjoyed what it had to offer. You have a scared young man who lives by a set of rules that enable him to survive the Zombie outbreak. Combined with Woody, who is your zombie killing badass who only wants to find the last Twinkies on earth. The cast was well put together and rather funny, and there is a cameo in the middle of the movie that just made my day. Clocking in at 80 minutes it doesn't drag and go on longer then it needs to. This is the movie to see in theaters this October, especially if you love zombies and Halloween. 9/10.

Trick r Treat has been a movie that many people have wanted but due to circumstances out of our control most of us haven't been able to see it until now. This movie takes four short stories and twists them together as they play out in a small festive town in the US. The scenes look fantastic and the acting for each character was taken seriously and performed just right. I loved the new Halloween icon named Sam. Creepy and amazing to look at, this movie was done the right way and should be watched every year on Halloween. This movie adds something new and well made to the genre. 9/10

I know these seem like high ratings but these movies are not busts by any means and if you like horror movies or just love to see something well made then check out these two gems.
