Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. This one took me quite a bit longer then the Itachi one considering all the shading and detail.

Today is my birthday! Yay! Hopefully all goes well tonight as I have plans to celebrate with a bunch of my friends. My last 3 birthdays weren't anything special and just went by like any other day so hopefully that isn't the case this time.

So in the period of about 2 months time I've twisted my ankle a total of 3 times. The first 2 times were on my right ankle and now, just recently, I twisted my left ankle while my 2nd injury isn't even fully healed yet. First time was the worst playing tennis, second time was playing basketball, third time was bad luck as I accidentaly stepped on a ball and rolled my foot off. It feels as if I'm being punished for actually trying to get outside and have some fun. So now here I am without much of anything I can do for a few weeks which really pisses me off. I want to get back out on the courts as soon as possible.

For those of you who don't know, Best Buy is having a sale on a ton of games this week for $10. You can find the whole list at cheapassgamer.com or other sites.

    I picked up..

I was thinking about getting some other games but this is the only game I actually really wanted. Some of the games I already had anyways like DMC4.

Oh and btw, if you can't find the game at Best Buy, take the ad to a Walmart and get a price match. They'll have to call a customer service representative to approve the price change but it should work. That's what my friend did to get his copy of Soul Calibur IV. USA only it seems.

I can't figure out if I like this game or not. This game feels rushed as it is very glitchy. Usually I can forgive a game that has a few bugs but I keep coming upon them in this game so much its just ridiculously blatant. Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary weren't as bad as this. Those were forgivable at least. Controls aren't as solid as in the previous games either. The camera can drive you nuts sometimes and cause you to make some jumps in directions you didn't want to go. They made the puzzles really obtuse too so rather then feel clever about solving something, most of the time I say to myself "Wow really? That's how you're supposed to do it?". Sometimes its hard to tell what piece of geometry in the world you're allowed to scale or not.

That probably sounds all bad but when the game is actually not messing up on you its rather fun. I just wish these problems didn't bring it down so much. I'm a sucker for good platformers though so I'll probably finish it before I have to return it to the video store. I used a free rental coupon so I can't really complain too much. I do still want Tomb Raider Anniversary but I will not be picking up Underworld even when its cheap when I can get the far superior earlier entries in the series.

For those of you who didn't know, I was sick for the good portion of the week but I'm finally over it. Funny thing is that I rarely ever get sick like 2-3 times a year at most and they usually last for only 1-2 days but this time I got hit bad. I haven't been that badly sick in years and I'm talking about since I was in elementary grade school.

I blame my friend who visited me on leave from the Navy who I hadn't seen in months and looked like he was getting sick as soon as he was back. It was worth it however considering I rarely get to see him ever since he entered the military. The weather here seems to have cleared up also. The whole week I was sick there was also some pretty heavy rain. Fitting for the week and my condition I suppose. I feel bad for my friend who seemed to pick the worst time to take his military leave considering the weather and how he was also sick. It might still rain later this week here but at least I'm not sick anymore and I can get back to doing regular things exercising and being able to go out places.

I updated my contact info in case any of you kind users feel the need to contact me or just to chat with me online. I use MSN messenger so add Link2025@msn.com. Remember to PM me or leave a comment here just in case you did add me so I know ahead of time.

One reason I'm doing this is because over the last few months I've been getting people adding me and I do not know who they are so I haven't added them (I think myspace is to blame probably). Second reason is to expand my friend list so I can get to know the rest of my tracked users better. So see you online maybe.

I'm feeling a little disappointed in myself at the moment because I just looked back at all my blog posts dating back to the end of 2004 and noticed that I used to write quite a bit compared to now. I would like to write more but then I remember the same issues of why I stopped writing so much to begin with. It mostly had to do with people just not reading them and the amount of effort I put writing them vs the payoff. I'll put some examples of old blogs with my current reaction underneath them.

    For example:

September 15th, 2006: "Sometimes I feel as if all of my efforts go totally unnoticed. I just don't want to spam friend requests or advertise my works to get people to notice them like other people sometimes do. People should know of my efforts naturally because they're interested. Even I can only take so much though without a simple "thank you" or "your welcome" from anyone."

-Updated Response- I've just learned to deal with it and accept the fact that some people get tons of comments on their blogs because they like to be the center of attention and because they have tons of friends and not necessarily because they write the best content. Be happy with what you get even if you would like to have more hits on your profile page.

December 11th, 2006: "I've been noticing a lot of people lately blogging about "personal issues" at home or work or with relationships and what not. I agree that sometimes it's best to talk about these things with people you know but you can only get so much feedback from people on a game centric website. Stuff like that is better suited to AIM or MSN conversations or with people you know in real life in person or over the phone. People shouldn't try to make Gamespot their own personal myspace or something. I think we should be writing about stuff more suited to a game centric website because, after all, the reason we are all here is because we share a common interest in games and enjoy games as a hobby. I'll admit that in some of my past blogs a few months ago, I've posted my own fair share of personal issues but I have since come to realize that these problems are mine to deal with and I shouldn't bother or depress the readers with my own issues. We shouldn't make others feel guilty about our own problems.I will continue to try and make blogs that pertain to games in a healthy, discussable manner."

-Updated Response- I've eased up on my view of this since then but I still agree that blogs (on Gamespot especially) should be more positive in general. It's not a bad thing to do by any stretch of the imagination and I acknowledge that for some people this is probably a healthy way to vent. I just feel that negative thinking seems to lead to more of it down the road.

August 31st, 2006: "It seems to me that every time I read people's blogs, most of the time they just write down stuff for the sake or writing down stuff. I think blogs in general should be more organized and well thought out to express your ideas.

There are some good exceptions to this. Don't get me wrong though. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have fun in our blogs or anything like that.Sometimes it's nice to just write down simple things like how our day went or what you plan to do tomorrow etc. Telling a story about yourself can be very entertaining to readers. I just don't think it serves any purpose to write down extremely short blogs like "Today I got bit by a dog" or "Today I've reached lvl 2, yay"."

-Updated Response- Again I've eased up on my view since then but most of my points still feel very valid to me. For example, I could put up an extremely short blog saying about how I feel sick and might be getting a fever (which is true as I write this) but what's the point and most of you probably won't care anyways. If you feel like posting blogs that way that's fine, you can write however you please though it just feels like a waste of time to me mostly.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I couldn't sleep anyways so this at least killed some time for me. So what do you guys think?

    is...

What can I say about this game? There's no story or no real goal to it. It's just fun in the purest sense and that's what games are all about. I keep coming back to it often and it's awesome how Criterion is still adding content to the game over a year since it was released. There's always something to do and you can do it at your own leisure.

I'm pretty happy with my current game collection of over 300 games but there are still some games I need in order for it to feel complete.

    Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
    Resident Evil 2,3,Code Veronica
    Soul Calibur 4
    Chibi Robo: Park Patrol
    Lunar Knights
    Yoshi's Island DS
    Super Paper Mario
    Contra 4
    Animal Crossing: City Folk
    The Conduit
    Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
God of War: Chains of Olympus
    Resident Evil 5
Rock Band 2 (with downloaded RB1 tracks)
    Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
    Chibi Robo
    Star Fox Assault
    Psychonauts
    Final Fantasy VI Advance
    Final Fantasy IV DS
    Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
    Indigo Prophecy
    Gradius V
    Gun Valkyrie
    Bangai-O Spirits
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
    Tales of Vesperia
    Tales of the Abyss
    Yakuza 1 & 2
    Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
    Trauma Center: Second Opinion
    Sonic Rush
    Sonic Rush Adventure
    Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2
    Okami (Wii)
    The World Ends With You
Professor Layton and the Curious Villiage
    Prince of Persia
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC)
    Persona 4

Don't ask me how I came about to choosing why I feel these are the games I need. They are just the games I want to own for collection purposes. I think only 1 or 2 of those games aren't even out yet. I will probably add more games to it if I can remember some that I want but it's mostly for games already out.

Oh Yeah and my 360 came back and I bought Banjo Kazooie for XBLA so I've been playing that.

For no particular reason, I'm replaying........

    Zelda OoS

I'm also playing Persona 3: FES though I'm only a few hours into it and haven't been playing it much lately. I have not replayed Oracle of Seasons for years so it's interesting comparing my thoughts when I had played through it when it was new to now when I'm replaying it. I'm still enjoying it though not to the extent I originally did and some of its flaws feel more apparent now.

I would be playing more Burnout Paradise and Ninja Gaiden II but I'm still waiting on my Xbox 360 to return from repairs but I should have it back within the next couple of days.

How about saying what you gave out to your friends and family. Not everyone was fortunate enough to have a bountiful Christmas.

As for me, I'm going to try and find presents for my friends that won't seem predictable. I don't have the kind of cash to buy everyone what they want but I will make an effort to get those people thoughtful and suitable gifts.

True that these presents will not be given out on Christmas as that has already passed for the most part (mostly my fault for putting it off for so long) but what difference does it make when you receive a gift as long as at least some care was put into giving the gift? We should be thankful for even receiving the gifts we got for Christmas.

If you think about it, when was the last time you offered your gratitude or services simply out of the kindness of your own heart and not because it was someone's birthday or a holiday or something like that? Gifts don't always have to be a tangible thing.

But I digress. Hopefully I haven't put any of you off that read this. Enjoy the rest of the holidays with your family and friends and thank you for reading.

... is just OK. A little better then average but not great by any means. There are lots of moments in the game where you just have no clue what to do and sometimes the collision detection is just wonky. I felt that sometimes I was breaking the game by completing jumps or puzzles the way the developers never intended. There is also a lot of trial and error stuff that isn't always so fun.

The combat is also pretty forgettable and again I felt as if I was cheating the game sometimes. For example you can slide kick a guy in the crotch and quickly get up behind him before his slouched over in pain animation is done and right when that animation finishes you can disarm him.

I don't really know what the developers were trying to achieve story wise with the in-game cut-scenes and those animated sequences or the whole art style of the game for that matter. It actually is a little jarring to see the in-game rendered cut-scenes then to transition to the out of place animated stuff.

It is something new and I do think it is worth checking out (as a rental maybe). It is also extremely short. You can finish the single player game in about 4 or 5 hours or so. It was a decent first effort but I can't help but feel the developers could have done so much more.

I've been playing a lot of games lately in the "classic" style of gaming. Games like Megaman 9, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Punch-Out!!, and others.

Some of my recent game accomplishments (or achievements or w/e but not all 360 specifically):

    Megaman 9

    - "reach a boss room without taking damage"

    Bionic Commando *(UPDATE)*

    - "clear Area 02 without touching a slime blob"
    - *NEW* "in Area 05, reach the boss room in under 1 minute and 30 seconds" (I RULE!)

Been playing a lot of the challenge rooms in Bionic Commando and later on they get super hard but it's really fun. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. I'm also getting real close to beating Mike Tyson in the original Punch-Out!! but that guy is such a bastard!

One of my best gaming accomplishments ever was in Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) beating Hurricane Pack 2 and all 50 challenge missions.

So yeah sorry I haven't been on much but I don't really feel compelled to return here that much. I've been messing with the Wii homebrew stuff and got it working. It works so well that I would recommend anyone who can to try it. I can play a SNES emulator on my Wii and it'll read the games off my 2gb SD card that has practically every SNES game on it. Saves and save states all work and the emulator itself is pretty much perfect. Screw waiting for games to come out on the virtual console. The games look fantastic and display in 480p if you have the proper component cables so the quality looks just as good as the real virtual console games themselves. I forgot how much I loved the Earthworm Jim games. There are also other things you can do with the wii homebrew stuff but that's probably something I shouldn't go into detail here.

On the game front I got Ninja Gaiden for DS which is a really good and a fresh/interesting take on the action genre for the DS. I also got Schizoid for xbox live arcade and the Strongbad game on Wiiware. I might pick up both Bionic Commando and Geometry Wars 2 on xbla soon too.

Oh yeah, when I formatted my 2gb SD card for the wii homebrew stuff I forgot that all my Smash Bros. Brawl replays were stored on it so I lost over 60 replays and some custom lvls and pictures. Not really a big deal but it is somewhat of a bummer.

I'm bored at the moment if you can't tell. Ask me anything you want but also make sure it is appropriate. They can be a little silly I suppose. I was busy and out of the house this whole past week which is why you haven't seen much of me lately between my birthday, going to six flags, 4th of july, movies etc. Hopefully you guys had a good week too.

Good ol Cheapassgamer.com pulls out another win by informing me of some crazy good deals this week. Gamefly is selling some games really cheap. All games are polished/cleaned and guaranteed to work with original box and manuals.

    Devil May Cry 4

^ I ordered for $20 with free shipping

    Other Notables:

    • Mass Effect
    • Burnout Paradise
    • Assassin's Creed

I was thinking about also getting Assassin's Creed as its even cheaper at $17.99 but I've already beaten it when my friend let me borrow it. One game should be fine at the moment.
