    Highscores and recent gaming

I now take up the first spot on 10% of the leaderboards in Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2! I've managed to jog, slide, kick, block, jump, but most importantly DANCE myself up the tables on ten separate levels, out of the 100 in the game: two in the second world, and eight in the third.

Currently I'm also playing Spec Ops: The Line, Call of Duty Classic (you know, the original, so it's okay), Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Plants vs. Zombies (Vita), Big Sky Infinity, StarDrone, Dragon's Dogma, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and some other games I've had for a while that I revisit every now and then (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World the Game, Super Meat Boy, Braid, VVVVVV, Super Hexagon, Shatter, Borderlands, and Flower).

Lastly, I'm going to start up playthroughs hopefully soon for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, WipEout: 2048, Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, Jak II and 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Vanquish, Closure, Beyond Good and Evil HD, The Undergarden, Knytt: Underground, Blue Toad Murder Files, Joe Danger 2: the Movie, and Alien Swarm Trilogy.

Whew. This'll be a busy month.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Five Year Anniversary!

So I just remembered while going through Gamespot's archives of Nintendo classics that Super Smash Brothers Brawl's FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY IS IN LESS THAN THREE DAYS (at the time of this post, duh). I can't freaking believe I was only ten years old when Brawl came out, considering how much I remember of it, and Melee, too.

I think to commemorate this special milestone for the series, I shall make a written review for both Brawl AND Melee on the ninth, the exact date that the latest game in the series released already so many years ago. Man, when such an awesome game comes out and so many people are still actively playing and talking about it, it's really hard to believe it's been THAT LONG.

I can almost clearly envision my ten year-old self standing in that humongous line at my local Gamestop (hey, mine's pretty great, actually) during the midnight release, and how I spent nearly the whole rest of the night and all the rest of the month playing it near non-stop. I also remember how saddened I was when it had been delayed in 2007 from November I believe all the way to March of the next year. Sure, it wasn't the largest delay of a game I've anticipating (Luigi's Mansion 2 takes that Number 1 spot by far), but considering I was looking up information about it on Smashbros.com every day, I was beyond disappointed.

To conclude this blog entry, I will just say that it's always been beyond me why Melee and Brawl are rated T...

    Gamespot's GOTY

Hey, Gamespot finally did something right and awarded Journey Game of the Year. That was quite the surprise really. I thought it was forbidden or something to give a download-only game such an award. I was also surprised to see Farcry 3 and Max Payne 3 weren't even nominated. But oh well. I'm definitely glad with what they picked.

"Innovative" The game is very memorable and has a lot of character and charm, but overall it was too easy for me, combat related. Continue »
