I try and update my blog every so often. I hope you enjoy!

In July Infinity Ward announced at E3 that they were having a beta for Call of Duty 4 on the Xbox 360 sometime in August. I was pumped for that after being a member of their site since day one. This past Wednesday they open up a lotto where you could send in an e-mail answering three questions and hope to get selected. While it wasn't a small choosing of people, it wasn't large. Days went by and I wasn't in, but finally today I got in. Checked my e-mail and their was my code and the congratulations from Infinity Ward. So I am glad to play it before the big rush of people come in on Monday once it becomes more available to the public of those who live in the U.S.

Tonight I played a little with Earthking and I must say the beta is amazing. There are three maps and each one is designed well and offers a great experience. The classes you can choose to be and the ranking system is cool too. I am normally a Heavy Gunner and have liked the weapons the class offers. Infinity Ward really has produced a game that will be great on the day it releases, this just from the beta. I haven't experienced much lag, so it has been good.

If you got in we need to play and start a Party Group. I love games that have a Party system built-in. The matchmaking has been excellent too.

Anyways, I start back up on school on Wednesday. So comes the end of my summer and here I go back to school to have loads of fun. I'll be glad to see my friends I didn't see in the summer, but by the third week I'll be wanting Christmas to come. Luckily Halo 3 comes out on September 25th! Less than a month now!

This week I get to go back to football to at least help out at practice. I am glad because I have been getting bored being at home since I had my tonsils removed. Then the following week I should get to practice again. I am excited for that to happen.

Anyways, Call of Duty 4 is something you need to sign-up for if you have a Xbox 360. Go to CharlieOscarDelta.com and on Monday those who live in the U.S. have a good chance to get. It'll be at 12:00 P.M. EST.

All of this entire MLB season has been looked upon for one thing, and that is the day that Barry Bonds would break the home run record that was now once held by Hank Aaron. 756 now stands the number and counting. That is quite a record and will take quite a person to break it. That one guy could now easily be Alex Rodriguez, who is the youngest players to hit 500 home runs.

I was glad that I saw it live because it is something I do want to remember. It's always better to see it live then in highlights. While it will always be heavily disputed that Barry Bonds may have used steroids, it is hard to take away from the guy right now. As of now, he is still considered "clean." I consider this records as one of the most famous through out sports. Again, while I believe this will be a hard record to break, it won't be impossible like that of Cal Ripken Jr.'s consecutive game streak. Barry has again said he will continue to play baseball. I am not sure how many more seasons, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up at. He is near 3,000 hits also.

On a non-related sports note, well kind of, I am having my tonsils removed this Friday. It is due to me be constantly sick with strep throat and lately they have been really swollen effecting my breathing and my speaking. So I will miss about a month of football, according to my doctor, which sucks. So I'll have little to do until I can go back and at least help out.

Hopefully everyone who celebrated the 4th of July yesterday had a good time. I know I did lighting off a lot of fireworks and just hanging out with my friends. It really was just a basic day, but the fireworks were still great.

Anyways, today I had my wisdom removed from my mouth. I had known that this was going to happen since last year. All four of them were removed during one surgery, which I remember nothing of. I can remember after and before, as well as one thing during the surgery I believe. They started off by putting a bunch of heart monitors on me. Then came the IV and finally the "laughing gas." It didn't make me entirely goofy when I was aware, but right before I went out I was tending to giggle just at random things. During the surgery I only remember the doctors saying that I had some irritation where the heart monitors were, but that I would be ok. I then waited in a room to wait for some of the effects to where off, so I was told, and then it was time for me to go home. I could barely walk to the car and was just really tired.

Once I got home I nearly passed out since I was so tired, but had to take some narcotics and some other painkillers as well as eat some pudding. Then I just crashed in my basement for a few hours. I have been up for a few hours now and feel pretty good. There is no real pain, just an annoyance feeling in my mouth. I did bleed a lot and it got all over my pillow when I slept since the gauze popped out of my mouth. I thought I'd be a lot worse, but as of now I appear to be fine and hopefully it doesn't get worse. I got Chipotle to eat now, since a burrito sounds great.

In other news, I sent out my Xbox 360 a little over 2 weeks ago and still have not received it back from the repair center. When I called the support line, there apparently had been a delay. Great service there. Once I get it back I am going to try and get into Rainbow Six Vegas as well as get NCAA Football 08 soon.

So I guess it is time for me to eat and stay bored until I can hang out with my friends. Good thing I am getting back in to Age of Empires III.

    Later everyone.

It's finally that time of the year again.  Considerably my best moment that I know comes every year at around the same time.  That's right, school is out.  Today was our last day and was short due to it being an exam schedule.  Our exams started on Monday.  I had two and got out at 12:00.  Yesterday, I had two exams, but only had off in between the two.  Then today I got out at 12:00 and went out to eat with some of my friends.  It felt good to realize that I have quite a bit of time off and can do a lot, such as sleep in and stay up late, hang out with my friends more, play more video games and a lot of other stuff that I'll just do.

Along with the summer starting, so is football camp.  I'll have some periodically throughout the summer as well as start two-a-days in August.  Great.  Otherwise I'll just be lifting and conditioning from now until then.  Still, I am excited that football season will start, but not really until two-a-days are finished.  Those really are annoying and destroy my August.  Then school will start again.  I really shouldn't get ahead of myself hear.

In other news, I should be getting my license within the next two weeks.  If not, then I will have quite a few issues and be very mad because I need to get that damn thing soon!  I really wish I could have gotten it on my birthday in the middle of last month.  I could be doing anything I wanted with all the time I had and life would just be easier, for now.

In video game related things, I plan on buying Shadowrun.  That is when I can find it.  I have been calling a local store everyday and they never have it and the same goes with Circuit City.  These are the two closest place, but I am really surprised that Circuit City doesn't have it since mine is normally well stocked.  While Shadowrun did receive a lot of average reviews from the reviewers of sites and magazines, a majority of the community is saying that it is a pretty damn good game.  This considering you are a multiplayer kind of person, in which I am.  I have no real large issue with there being no true single player campaign, although it always makes a game a good amount better.  Whenever I can find Shadowrun I will buy it.  Hopefully this is really soon, like this weekend.

Let the summer roll in and be sure that I will make great use of all the time that I have off.  Hopefully you all are too, or will when you can.

Up until recently I didn't plan on getting till this Christmas.  Once my birthday came up two weeks ago, I had received enough money to get a Wii.  Now, I wasn't wanting one just because I had enough money, but because it was looking tempting after I noticed all the games out now and all the good ones coming soon.  I needed it before Christmas.

You would figure it would be easy to get one after 6 months of the Wii being out.  This is still not the case, just like the Xbox 360.  Yesterday I went to Best Buy to pick one up thinking it would be just there.  It wasn't.  Luckily the guy told me they were getting some in today in the morning when it opened and that they would get around 12-30 units.  Everyone knew about this so I figured I would have to come early.  I didn't really want to do that so I just came about 20 minutes early.  There was a huge line of about 60 people, although some were there as a group, and I was pretty damn sure it wasn't my day.  I stuck it out in the line and when I walked in Best Buy was still handing out tickets for the Wii!

Now that I am inside they have a special area reserved for the Wii.  Before you got your console there were lines of tables you had to walk buy with accessories and games.  Since I didn't have a ton of money to spend on accessories, thanks to me being able to drive soon, I just picked up the Classic Controller.  They didn't have any Wii Points so I will just buy those with a credit card.  Then came the time where I traded in the ticket so I could pick up my Wii!  It was a pretty exciting moment.  I didn't pick up any extra games, but that will happen within the next week or two.  Best Buy ended up getting about 50 units.

I am just so damn excited to have one and it will be great with my Xbox 360 and they shall rule my entertainment set-up.  So that proves that there is still quite a shortage of Wiis, at least in Columbus, Ohio, and I was pretty lucky to get one today without waiting in line for much.  Now it's time for me to set up my Wii and enjoy it!

    Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

EDIT: I just got back from buying Super Paper Mario for $34.99!

It's already that time of year for me again.  Today, or rather early this morning, I turned 16 years old.  Some get excited, I really don't.  It's cool that it's my birthday, but it really isn't all that much more significant than any of my other birthdays.  The thing that I am excited about is getting my driver's license.  This will eb happening within the next upcoming weeks, probably early June.  I am all set for that with my car and all that stuff.  I will be driving a 98' Honda Accord.  So it was a pretty good day, besides being at school.  Once I get my license a new blog will come for sure or when I get  out of school, which ever comes first.

The Halo 3 beta was supposed to come out today but had been delayed till tomorrow due to some issues they have been having.  I tried some last contest attempts to get into it, but all failed.  I guess I'll just wait till it releases on September 25th.  That's a lot earlier than most expected.  I am wondering when Mass Effect will now come out and am hoping it isn't released in September.  If that is the case, I will have less time to play it so I am hoping for a release soon.  I am still wondering if any of my friends here got accepted into the Halo 3 beta or bought Crackdown and will play it through there.

My Xbox 360 had been working from time to time after I did the towel fix.  It was starting to become worse and rarely work, but all of a sudden it seems to have changed.  I have been able to turn it on the last few days without any problems which is good and bad.  It's good because it seems like a problem solved, but I still really should send it in because I doubt it will be good for the rest of its lifetime so I will probably still send it in.

Wow, it has been awhile since I did my last blog and so much has happened since then, you could say.  I'll try to avoid sports since I am not willing to talk about that much of now, but have had a lot of gaming things going on.  That and the weather in Ohio has been great and I have been playing a lot of basketball with my friends.  Anyways, on to the good stuff.

For the past few months I have pondered over the decision of whether I should get a DS Lite or not.  The problem was how I was going to get the money.  I didn't want to just straight-up save $130 and spend it on one.  I was going to sell my PSP or find another way.  The problem was, I didn't feel like selling my PSP because I still liked it, somehow, and it is my main media player.  I wasn't and am not going to buy an iPod.

A great opportunity raised this weekend and my friend was going to sell me his relatively new, hardly played, DS Lite for $60.  I was all over that deal and got the money and bought it from him yesterday.  I am very glad I did this since I can use my PSP mainly for media and my DS Lite for playing games on, especially on rides.  I did have a DS once but didn't like it so I sold it.  Then great games started coming out and I deeply regretted it, so having this opportunity was something that I only could have dreamed of occurring.

Over the next month or so, I plan to buy a few games for it.  Mainly games like The New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS and a few other big titles.  Today I did buy a game for it and that was Pokemon Diamond.  Yeah, I kind of felt funny for buying it just based of off how silly it sometimes seems to me, but I always have liked the gameplay and it gives me something to do when needed.  I know I will and have already started building up an addiction for it.

So I am really glad I got a DS Lite and plan have set-up the WiFi for Pokemon Diamond.  The idea of implementing this was great and I already like it a lot.  The only problem with WiFi on the DS is the use of friend codes.  I just wish it could be similar to Xbox Live, which is very user-friendly.  This way you don't need a new code for every game and every works a lot more connected.  I do look forward to getting more games for my DS and am looking forward to the new Legend of Zelda game.

Any other games people are willing to recommend to me would be great.

Aside from me purchasing a DS Lite, I have bought Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360.  This game is truly outstanding and I am starting the hard tour.  The selection of songs is outstanding and having the online leaderboards adds a lot too.  The only problem I have with it, which is extra, is the cost of the downloadable content(songs).  It's around $6.25 for just 3 songs, but I don't really want to rant on that because I could go on for awhile.  Quite a few of my friends have GHII so I have been able to experience the multiplayer a few times and it is really fun, whether it be going head-to-head or playing a song together.

My Xbox 360 is pretty much dead again, just like in August of 2006.  I have been able to get it working for periods of days by using the "towel trick" which is basically where you suffocate your Xbox 360 and helps fix those messed up solder joints.  While it is weird how it works and probably wouldn't be recommended by Microsoft, I am still under warranty and will send it in for free once I receive the box from them.  It's pretty ridiculous how a system can be fixed and then break again, but who knows what they actually do.  Such a great system, but is just sometimes plagued by these hardware issues, from my experience.  Once it is fixed I will quickly forget while playing all the great games that are available and will be available.

I am still hoping that Mass Effect is launched this month, or at least next month, so I can get it for my birthday or with money I get for my birthday.  My birthday happens to be in just 16 days(May 16th) and it will be my 16th birthday.(16, 16, 16?)  I will be able to get my license shortly after that within a week or so, I just have to finish up driver's-ed, which is the worst thing you'll ever take as you are killed with boredom.

With all that said, school is slowly coming to an end.  In just about 37 more days, school will officially be over and on with summer.  Hanging out with my friends, video games, football, repeat.  I am just getting really excited about this summer and am just done with school now.  I still need to finish strong so I don't get myself into any trouble before the summer which would be painful.  Some of you probably end here in just a few weeks.

That's all I have for now.  Everyone stay good and have fun!

Let's start off with an image:

Now it may not mean much to any of you, or you might just think, "Ok, he is popping a tray."  Well this is a picture of my boy, Ron Lewis, pulling up with just a few seconds left against Xavier and draining a three to send it into overtime.  We ended up winning in overtime, but struggled to get there.

Let's backtrack a bit.  For most of this game, which took place on Saturday, it was a close game.  Then towards the end Xavier started to pull away and it really did seem like we had no shot at winning the game.  All of a sudden we started going on a good run and Ron Lewis was just raining down threes.  Xavier had just missed a free-throw and there was about 9.7 seconds left in the game.  We drive down the court, Ron Lewis comes off a screen and shoots a long three to send the battle of Ohio into overtime.  Now it puts a little more stress on us Buckeye fans, since one of our key players, Greg Oden, had fouled out.  To no surprise, Mike Conley Jr. steps up and keeps on scoring giving us the victory, 78-71.  This now sends us to the Sweet 16 to face today's winner, Tennessee.  Lewis finished out the game with a game-high, 27 points.  I am excited for the game this Wednesday.

On a lower note, my bracket for college basketball, hasn't been doing so well.  The first day I was doing pretty good, but then have been doing bad ever since.  Now, all my Final Four teams are still in it, but I have lost to many games to really win the cash from my poll at school.

Also, I just have 2 more weeks to go until I start my week long, Spring Break.  I can't wait to get all that time off and just do whatever.  Hopefully it will have warmed up more here, in Ohio, so I can do some stuff outside.  It was in the 70's here, for awhile, but has dropped back to the 40's.  I was lovin' the very warm weather after we have hard a rather harsh winter.

    Go Buckeyes!

Our user icons have been restored to basically the size they were before the redesign in 2005.  They are now 80x80, confirmed by your prefs, and look a lot better.  This has been something we have been begging for forever but just happened.  I am really glad because you can see other user's icons a whole lot better and can use a lot more.  It appears to be a bit glitchy, not much, but will be working well soon, I assume.

Another thing that returns to us, is the link to get back to the forum you were just on, at the bottom of the page in a topic.  This isn't something huge, but is very convenient to have and seemed odd that it was removed once the redesign was done in 2005.

Another quick happy note for me and other Buckeye fans:

We are rolling along in the men's basketball league and are still a top number one, just after beating Wisconsin at home by one, in a very close and intense game.

Short blog there, but some good forum enhancements that were needed, and are nice to see back for those who were around when we had these.

After, I got home from the Super Bowl game last night, which my score was pretty close, it was a cold night.  Colder than it had been in years.  With the wind chill the temperature had dropped to about -20 degrees below 0.  There was a light covering of snow, but the cold is what nearly ripped your face off when you faced this ice cold weather.  Like most anyone else in school, I had some hopes for a "cold day".  Something that I have never been apart of before.  To add to that, my school district rarely even calls school off, or calls a delay, even when conditions are horrible.

I then got home to see if we got a delay or the day off, and nothing!  Then right before I was heading off to bed, I check one last time to find school was cancelled!  Yes, a "cold day"!  So I stayed up all night and just played video games with my friends.  Then today did the same thing since it was too cold to hang out or do anything else.  So it has already been a great day, but every school is closing for tomorrow, as the temperature is dropping.  I am hoping to see my school, but I don't.  BAM!  There it is!  Another "cold day"!  I am going to make use of tomorrow again, as well as pray for another one on Wednesday.  To make things better, I don't have school Friday due to a teach work day!

What a great week this is turning out to be!  I am trying to live it up with myself and my friends!

Ah, yes, that time of year has come around where we get too see the best team from each conference face each other to get a chance to go to Disney World, and of course get the Lombardi Trophy.  Not to mention the sweet ring that you get to walk around with on your fist.  It just seems like it was Super Bowl XXXVI where the Patriots made their run at a dynasty.  Failing to win the Super Bowl the next year, they won two straight after that.

Here we are today, already at Super Bowl XLI where we have the San Diego Chargers taking on the Chicago Bears.  Oh wait, damn it!  Those damn Chargers couldn't make it to the Super Bowl because of some stupid playing against the New England Patriots.  Whether it be not giving the rock to LT much in the second half, or a picked of Tom Brady pass that was stripped and given back to the Patriots.  We could even boil it down to the challenge flag that good ol' Marty threw, when it was clearly obvious that nothing could be over-turned.  That was a blown time out that could arguably have cost the Chargers the game.  Instead, today is the AFC Champs, the Indianapolis Colts, taking on the NFC Champs, the Chicago Bears.  Both teams who have had great seasons, but with a lot of controversy.  The Colts' run defense has been completely shunned this entire season by the media and everyone else, but has showed up big in the playoffs.  The Bears quarterback, Rex Grossman, has been highly criticized all season, including the playoffs.  While he has not had an amazing post-season, he has definitely played a lot better.  Especially by keeping his interceptions down, for the most part.

Today's game should bring a good one.  Two teams that most would have considered Super Bowl likely teams at the start of the season.  There is no real home-field advantage, not that the fans would want one, per say.  Most fans would rather take the trip down to Miami, Florida where it is wet right now, and expected showers for tonight's game, but it beats the cold of the two team's places.  In Chicago the wind-chill factor brings it down below 0 and same with Indianapolis, even though they have a dome.  Luckily for the player's tonight, the field they are playing on has a very good turf that allows for efficient draining to help keep the field relatively dry.

All and all, the teams aren't too hurt from injuries and most of the key players for both sides will be playing the entire game.  So the match-up there is well.  I would think that both teams have around the same amount of fans, so the fans won't be able to make a huge impact.  Da Bears won't have their ultra cold weather conditions to use on opponents, while the Colts' Adam Vinatieri won't have his RCA Dome where he has never missed a field goal at.  To be honest, each team's kicker has has had a great season, but with Vinatieri's experience in past Super Bowls, who wouldn't choose him to kick the game winning field goal?  While the past year or so has been a Gator filled one, and the Bears quarterback is a Gator, I am going to have to go against them on this one.  For Super Bowl XLI, I am picking the Indianapolis Colts to beat the Chicago Bears: 27-20.  If the Bears did manage a win for this one, it wouldn't really surprise me either.  I have no favorite for this game either but the Colts represent the AFC so I guess I could root for them.  Hopefully this will be a fine, clean, Super Bowl game with good officiating.

Also, since my last blog at the first of the year I have had some new things happen.  In gaming, I have recently purchased Heavy Weapon: Atomic Tank and Fuzion Frenzy 2 for the Xbox 360.  Both games are great, and I am really enjoying Fuzion Frenzy 2.  I haven't been able decide if I liked the first one better or not, yet.  I must say that the online has greatly improved the game and makes it a ton of fun, especially if you have friends to play with.  I continue to play Gears of War and NBA 2K7, while trying to find a way to fit in some Rainbow Six: Vegas.  Next up on my list of games to get, would probably be Crackdown for the Xbox 360, and not just for the Halo 3 Beta Key.  Then maybe Guitar Hero 2, if I have enough cash.  I am still hoping that Mass Effect will be released on, or around my birthday on May 16th.  If the rumor that GameSpot reported is true, then I will be very happy!  Another game to look at is Project Offset.  Check out the trailer for the game.  It is looking very great and the in-game play looks outstanding!  I, and quite a bit of others, have a very strong feeling for the game that it will do very well.  Currently, it is slated to release on the PC and Xbox 360.  I still have not determined when I'll get a Wii, but maybe when my birthday comes up, I'll purchase one then.

My outside life has been doing fine, as usual.  I am doing better in school, still having fun, and now have mastered driving.  My mom even thinks so, so it's now to the point where I just want my license, but again I need to wait till May.  I am heavily anticipating that, because driving will open up many opportunities for me, but of course some cons too.

In other sports, The Ohio State Buckeyes lost to Florida early last month, which killed me, but I am starting to recover.  I am hoping our basketball team can bring us one.  We are looking very good right now, with Oden down low and some really great shooters.  We've even climbed up to number 4 in the nation and may move up more with the Wisconsin and North Carolina losing this week.  I have baseball tryouts coming up soon too, so hopefully those go well.

There's some updating on what has been going around on me, and let's hope tonight's game is a great one!

Well, 2006 is now gone and 2007 is here.  Who knows what this new year will bring.  Maybe a year of worse, or good, or just about the same.  This is something we will know once it is 2008.  I must say that 2006 was one of the better years, minus my poor start in school.  Gaming wise was just outstanding, especially for the Xbox 360.  Games like Gears of War, Elders Scroll IV: Oblivion, GRAW, Rainbow Six Vegas, and so much more.  Games for the Wii like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Resistance: Fall of Man for the PS3, games that I enjoyed trying out.  Hell, it was the release of two next-gen consoles and of course the mass shortages for them both.  There was the expansion of the Xbox Live Market Place into the movie and TV show world.  I will miss 2006 for one of the best years I have have ever lived in gaming and in general.  I just hope that 2007 turns out well.  From a gaming perspective it looks pretty damn well, but I also pray that it does good from other standpoints.

I also have a few things that I'd like to happen/do in 2007, or what I have thought of right now.  Here they are:

    • Gaming in general to go well
    • Buy a Wii
    • Get back to my old self in school
    • Cool accessories for the Xbox 360 to release
    • Announcement of KOTOR 3 and Diablo 3
    • Drive safely once I get my license in May
    • Keep visiting GameSpot
    • Everyone to stay good
    • Another good Christmas, ad maybe some snow?
    • A great year
    • The Ohio State Buckeyes win the National Championship

Of course I am missing all to much and some of that may seem odd but I just thought about some of that off the top of my head.  I do have to go back to school on Wednesday which makes me sick because I can't even think of being back there.  Anyways, I would like to hear your ambitions of 2007 and if you think it will be a successful or bad year.

Happy New Year everyone and have fun!

Today was my last day of school for the year of 2006.  I don't go back again till January 3rd, which makes my winter break the shortest ever, but whatever for now.  It's break and I have a lot of time to do a lot of stuff.

First off, Christmas is coming up which means I will be getting a good amount of stuff, and of course giving a lot.  This week I bought Viva Pinata and the Xbox Live Vision Camera Premium Package.  Both have been great to have.  I bought those two things with Christmas money I got on Sunday from having Christmas on my dad's side of the family.  Next, I will be playing lots and lots of video games.  I'll be playing all the games I have now, primarily, and will be getting Rainbow Six Vegas for Christmas.  Then I might purchase NBA 2K7, NHL 2K7, or College Hoops 2K7.  So I am definitely excited about playing all my video games with my friends and friends who are getting a 360 for Christmas.  Then, of course, I will be hanging out with my friends and just having a good time.  Winter break just brings a time of having fun and doing what you want to do without being pressured by time, pretty much.

Next, I realized that my one year anniversary of having my Xbox 360 was 3 days ago, December 17th.  I have been greatly pleased with my decision to buy the Xbox 360 and have had no problems except for when it broke, which ended up being free.  Too add to all the money I'll have after Christmas, I still have the $140 check coming my way for the fix of the 360, after they sent me the wrong amount last time.  So I got it good right now.

Also, on December 8th was my 2 year anniversary here on GameSpot, which I didn't realize till a few days ago.  Nothing too special too me, just thought I'd point that out. I have had a good time since I signed up, meeting lots of new friends and learning a lot.

So, everyone have a good time off, when you get it, and do what you can too relax and make yourself feel good!

Another thing, what are you guys/girls going to be doing over your break?

Exactly a month ago from today, I was eligible to take the test and get my driver's permit, allowing me to drive with a parent.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to get it then because I had to prove I could stabilize my grades.  Since then I have, and I got it today.

It ended up taking awhile just to get everything confirmed and all that, which was a huge pain.  My mom and I had to fill out paper work, then I had to get my driver's permit id card, then take a test.  The tests I took were very easy.  One was an eye test, in which they had me identify colors of circles, see how good my vision was, and if I could read.  Then I took the main test on a touch-sensitive screen.  It was pretty easy, to say the least.  I got a 30/35, because I didn't need to take the last 5 questions because I couldn't fail even if I missed the rest.  As long as you have a decent amount of common sense, it's fairly easy.

So I then was certified to be a driver, as long as I had a parent with me.  So of course my first thing to do was drive!  I had driven before, but never for a long amount of time.  Today, I drove for 2 hours on roads that were semi-busy, so it wasn't too hard.  I have a great feel for driving though and have no problems.  I don't get distracted by the radio or people talking to me.  When I turn, I turn like anyone else does.  I just have to get use to traffic next, like on a highway.

So, I have had a long and pretty exciting day and I am already pumped for my license, but I still have 5 months to go.  Now it's time to relax and get back to playing Gears of War online and maybe beat the campaign on insane.

Another good thing for tomorrow is, I am having Christmas for my dad's side of the family so I should be getting money which I will use, primarily, to buy games and accessories for my Xbox 360.

This week is also my last week of school, just having 3 days!  It's going to be a hard week to focus, but I have too so I can have a great winter break!  Winter break brings many times of happiness and just having all the fun that you can!

Have a great winter break everyone!  I will probably post another blog or two over break.  I also wish everyone to have a great time in what ever you celebrate!

Over the Thanksgiving Break I managed to play lots of games.  I even made my way over to a few stores and browsed through some games and checked out new accessories.  I even managed to play the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii for quite some time.  I went to a BestBuy too play both of them.  The odd thing was, every where else I went, didn't have an interactive Wii Station.

Shall we start with the PS3?  Good!

As I pulled myself up to the PlayStation 3 kiosk, which this BestBuy had 4 or 5, I was already more impressed than I expected.  The PS3 looked really nice and had a very sleek look, a lot different from the pictures you see.  The system was a very nice shiny black connected to a Sony 1080p HDTV, I believe.  The only made problem I had with the PS3 was its size.  It is quite large, definitely bigger than the original Xbox, and is quite heavy, I was able to hold it thanks to a BestBuy representative.  I don't really care about the size of a console, but you don't want it too be too big, which I think the PS3 kind of implied.

The controller is basically the same, especially when you first come up on it.  You'll probably only notice the little PlayStation icon in the middle of it, which is similar to the Xbox 360 guide button.  But once you start too feel it, you'll notice that the L2 and R2 buttons are not buttons anymore.  They are triggers, and have a good feel to them, which enhances the controller a good amount.  It also feels a bit lighter than the PS2's, and of course you'll notice as you play, there is no rumble from the Six-Axis.

I managed to play almost every launch game and wasn't too impressed.  About every single game had stunning graphics, thanks to the 1080p display.  You'll notice a slight step-up from the Xbox 360's display.  Besides that, most of the games were just not original and lacked any fun and wanting to play it more.  The only game, and I mean only, that I enjoyed a decent amount was Resistance.  This game looks outstanding and plays very well.  From what I played, the story seemed very good and this is a must-purchase with a PS3.

After I finished my timely experience of playing games on the PS3, I checked out it's dashboard navigation system.  Nothing too new hear if you have ever touched a PSP, because they are identical.  The way pictures can be viewed and the interface for the pictures icon is cool.

I then made my way over to check out what accessories there were for the PS3, and I believe the only thing there was a slot for was the Six-Axis.  Which is a shame.  A console needs good accessories, which the PS3 so far lacks.

Key Points on my PS3 Experience:

    • $ The overall appearance of the system is great, but is a bit large and heavy for a system
    • $ Great displaying ability as well as great graphics for games
    • $ Only problem is, the launch games lack fun
    • $ The controller is pretty damn cool, and the revamped L2 and R2 is great!
    • $ The "dashboard" is nice and easy to navigate, but is no different from the PSP's
    • $ Barely any accessories
    • $ Too bad that there is a shortage

Now onto the Wii, hopefully I haven't lost you to much, or you're at least skimming!

Almost every store I have been to since the launch of the Wii, none have had the Wii playable, in fact only one.  That was a particular BestBuy.  At this BestBuy, they only had 1 playable Wii so my time spent with the Wii was fairly limited.  I grabbed a hold of the Wii-Mote in quite a bit of excitement and was surprised with the size of it.  Not that small, but it was a bit smaller than I expected, but not an issue at all.  It was displayed on a Samsung HDTV, the exact same as the Xbox 360's.  I was not able to touch the console, since it was encased, but looked at it for a few minutes.  It is very small and looks nice.  The blue light around where you insert the disk is really cool.

When I first started using the Wii, it was just on its "Dashboard".  I was able to check out how it navigated which was very easy and looked great.  You could tell a lot of thinking was put behind it.  I tried to check out some of the Wii Channels, but since it was not connected to the internet, I could not.

It was time for Wii-gaming since there was no more I could do.  I played two games, and only played them each for about 7 minutes.  First I loaded up Excite Truck.  It was an ok game, but felt like not too much effort had been put into building the game.  The gameplay was nothing special and there were quite a few noticeable glitches.  Next I played Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.  I played the first one for the GameCube and thought it was pretty bad, but this one is very fun!  The games are addicting, and something you can play if you only have a few minutes to spare.  Surprisingly good!  Using the Wii-Mote for it was extremely fun and I just had a blast!

The controller for the Wii is something that is new but adds a whole new experience to gaming.  I was a bit worried about it, but from playing two games, I could tell that it's going to succeed and cause a lot of gamers to purchase the Wii.

I then moved over to check out the accessories for the Wii, and there were a bit more than for the PS3 but not many.  Just SD memory cards for the Wii, ranging from 256mb-2GB.  There were Wii Points and some cases for the Wii and covers for the Wii-Mote.  Nothing spectacular in the accessory department, yet.

Key Points on my Wii Experience:

    • $ The Wii console is very small and sleek
    • $ The Wii-Mote has a great feel and allows you to have a lot of fun
    • $ The "dashboard" interface for the Wii is very well thought out
    • $ If you are looking for top-of-the-line graphics, then don't expect them, they're good but not amazing
    • $ Not such a strong launch
    • $ Good game prices
    • $ Not too many cool accessories
    • $ Why no component cables on store shelves?

I hope you enjoyed my impressions and would love to hear yours, and whether you agree or disagree with me.

Today is one of the biggest games ever in college football history.  #2 Michigan at #1 Ohio State.  This is the first time ever that Michigan and Ohio State have faced each other being numbers 1 and 2.  Most consider this rivalry the biggest through out all of college sports.

I am really excited for this game because of how great of a match-up it is going to be, and I am an Ohio State fan.  I have a few friends who are going to the game today, but we couldn't manage to win any tickets.  I will just be going to a party today for the game, which is still really cool, and we will hardly cheer on out Buckeyes.

The only thing I was disappointed with this season was the fact that I didn't go to any games.  I usually go to at least 2, but for some reason my mom didn't get any tickets this season.

Back to the game.  I am extremely nervous, because Michigan is a very good team this year, as are we, and their run defense is just unbelievably good.  Another thing that might spark them up today, was the death of Michigan's old football coach, Bo Schembechler.  He was probably there best coach of all time, and was a great guy.  This is a game where they not only want to go out and win it for themselves, but now win it for Bo.

There is much more I could say about the teams, since they are both so talented.  Like how big of a surprise Ohio State's defense has been this year, and Michigan, in general, how well they have done.

Too add on to this, Troy Smith basically deserves the Heisman award hands down.  The only way that I, and analysts see him losing, is if he just does so bad against Michigan.  I am certain he won't because he is a true game-winner and has the heart.  If he doesn't win it, pending he does decent against Michigan, then it would be a huge disappointment because no one else has truly performed as well as him all season.

Huge game today, everyone should watch it.  This is the game that decides who goes to the National Championship, and who wins the Big Ten.

    Go BUCKEYES!!!!!!!

As you saw in my last blog, I talked about how my time had been severely shortened for over a month, near two.

This week in school I stepped it up to my potential, I just needed to start turning in all ym work, and now I am great.  I have all A's, except in Spanish I have a B.  I study now, and do all my work.  Basically, school before everything else, except family, and I am good.  I realized that if I do all my work, it really doesn't even take that much time.

So, now I am back full time, as long as I stay on pace, and I will be here full time.  Well maybe not for a week or so.  I bought Gears of War on Friday and have been enjoying it a ton!  The game is ridiculous.  I suggest anyone who hasn't gotten it, to get it.  It does not fall short of its hype.

So next on my list is to:

    • Be more active on all the GameSpot boards I once was
    • Becoming my old self as an officer in The Initial Shooters Union
    • Buy Call of Duty 3, Rainbow Six Vegas, buy more Live months, and get some Market Place Points
    • Game up all I can, while staying foucused
    • Having a great life once again

Oh, and on another great note, my San Diego Chargers came back from quite a large deficit against the Bengals and won!  Now 7-2 this season.

Last but not least, The Ohio State Buckeye's won again, and now have one of the best games of all time to play.  #2 Michigan at #1 Ohio State.  I expect this game to be better than the National Championship, unless they re-match.  It's going to be hard, but Ohio State has the players too win.

Late start tomorrow, so I am staying up all night to play Gears of War!

I am not sure if many people, if any, have noticed that I have not been able to be on GameSpot much for the past month.

If you haven't noticed, then my activity here has been severely cut down.  I used to spend quite a bit of time here.  I would help in the Tech Support Forum, give my feedback in the Site Enhancements Forum, help in the Welcome Newbies from time to time, post in unions, as well as help the many people who contact me asking for help with something.  Of course I am leaving out things that I have not been doing, like commenting on my friend's blogs, serving my duty as an article writer in The Initial Shooters Union, and more.

Why did all this happen?  Simple.  A stupid mistake that I made, and continued to make up until last week.  I was lazy with my school work, and did not get the grades I am accustomed to.  I did not completely fail or even do poor, just under my standards, and what my expects out of me.

I had the chance to turn it around at the interim time, about 4 and a half weeks ago.  I said I would do it, and never did.  Here I am today, lucky to get on the PC, writing this.  I am grounded even worse, not having any access to the PC.  I haven't been able to freely play my Xbox 360 since late September.  I have missed out on so many great games that I own, and will own.

Too make things worse, I will miss out on the chance to get my driver's permit on November 16th, the day I will be 15 and a half.  I may still have a chance to my permit then, if I show a drastic change in performance, but even then it is questionable.  I just wish I would have changed back then, and I would be fine right now.

Thanks to my mistakes, I let people down.  I let the people in the Union Awards Committee down, by not doing my job, and could have hurt the Initial Shooters Union, luckily I didn't because I have a great staff that I work with, for both "jobs".  I would like to apologize for that, if that means anything.  Not too mention the other people that I possible have let down...

Some good has happened over the weeks, though.  The Ohio State Buckeyes continue their role, and are still undefeated.  They did stumble quite a bit of the Fighting Illini, but we came out on top.  Coach Tressel will get them focused on this weeks opponent, North Western.  Then it's Michigan, it's going to be the game of the year.  Possibly bigger than the National Championship.

The San Diego Chargers have also been pretty good this season.  I continue to root for them, and hope they don't collapse like they sometimes tend to do towards the end of the season.

So yeah.  This week, and from here on out, I am going to focused really hard on school, so I can "re-gain" all of my privileges that I once had.  With a little bit of more focus, and less laziness, I can do it.  I do not have football anymore, since our season ended, and just lift and condition 4 days a week.

It's going to be a rough journey, but it's one that I am determined to finish.  I have too...

As some of you readers may know, my Xbox 360 broken way back in August, August 2nd to be exact, and I didn't send it in till a week ago from today.  It cost me $130 to have it repaired, since my warranty had expired, which was a shame.  So yesterday, after lifting, I came home and was in my basement.  I then here my doorbell ring and go up to answer it.  I look and see the UPS driver, drive away.  I then look down at my porch, and see a box there, looking exactly like the one I sent my 360 out in.  I was surprised though, and thought I must have done something wrong, and they were sending it back to me, to correct the problem, since it had only been 6 days, and was supposed to take at least 14 days for the whole process.

I take the box, and bring it into my basement, which is my gaming area, and I open the box.  I then find out it has been fixed, because the Xbox 360 was sealed up in a new plastic wrapper, and it came with a little folder that had papers in it, telling me how to hook-up the 360 again, as if I needed to know that.  Too my surprise, they had gave me a new faceplate.  It was just a basic white one that it comes with, but my other had broken, and I shipped it in the box with my 360.  So I am glad to have a new one.

Hoping that it would work when I plugged it back in, I started to get nervous.  Because if it was still broken, then I was going to go crazy and be really pissed off.  Guess what?  It worked!  Thank God!  All last night I gamed a ton, playing loads of Texas Hold 'em, Madden 07, and NCAA Football 07, gaining a total of 55 gamer points, since there isn't much I could get.

So far it has worked fine, but I am going to purchase a 1 year warranty from Microsoft, just in case it happens again, because there is no way I am going to fork out that much cash again.

The only problem I had with this whole process, which really worries me, is that the UPS man just dropped of my Xbox 360 box on the front of my porch.  I was told that I would need a parent to sign for the package, but I did not need to.  So what happens if I went away for the weekend?  My 360 would just sit there, and could be so easily stolen.  Luckily, I was home, which I am very thankful for.

I do have a lot of catching up to do.  First off, I need to start getting some achievements and get my gamer score going again.  Then I need to buy 1600 Market Place Points, Xbox Live Gold, and then Saints Row.  So I will be shelling out quite a bit of cash over the next few weeks.  But I am primarily just glad that I finally can now play my Xbox 360!

Today is a big day for college football, and Ohio State and Texas fans.  That's right, #1 Ohio State will be playing at #2 Texas, tonight at 8:00 P.M. EST.  This is the first time in quite a few years that the #1 and #2 teams have faced each other during the regular season.  It is such a rarity that it will happen, but there are times that it does, and it usually makes out to be a good game.  It is like an early season National Championship.

Here in Columbus, Ohio, things are going crazy because everyone is preparing for the big game in just a few hours.  Restaurants are offering special deals, having big screens for people to watch the game on, and so much more.  There are going to be football party's galore, even I am going to one tonight with some of my friends.  Everyone is ready to go tonight and is going to be cheering on our Buckeyes as they go in to Texas and pull out a big win

Me?  I have been ready since early this week.  I already have my Ohio State jersey layed out, and all my Ohio State apparel.  I am a die-hard Ohio State football fan, and this game means a lot to me, and so many others in this football state.

To get off football for a few moments here, I have some good news.  I finally received my box to send in my 360, which was very easy to do.  The only problem was, I was told that I just had to call UPS to come and pick it up, but that's not the case when I call UPS.  I told them that it says on the instructions sheet to charge all chargers back to Microsoft, but supposedly I was supposed to pay $10, after paying $139 to fix the damn console.  The hell with that.  I just took it to a UPS store this morning and it has already been shipped out to Texas, coincidence, eh?  That makes me mad though, that I was going to have to pay more.  At least, the console should be repaired and arrive back at my house in about a week and a half.

So far, my weekend has been great, but what would make it the best is for The Ohio State Buckeyes to get a victory for us and make all us Ohio State fans happy.
