As the title says, broke as hell this month. Wanna know why??? **** good games coming out one week after another, or games that I want. Since when has September been a month that has been a good month to release games? Tell me so I'd understand.
First off you got school starting, universities and the what not getting back into the swing of things. Bad for the gamers that have to go to school when that one or two good games come out during the month. Hell, I remember when I was in school and gaming only came on the weekends and special holidays. Well, at least during the day when I jump on PSU, won't be a hassle jumping in universe 1 on the 360 version of the game.
Man, my girlfriend will not like me this month. Spending money on games, and little date money, butI warned her about this month. She already knows about Sept. 25th, and how I don't want to be bothered, but I told her to still call me to check up on me, to make sure I don't go overboard. Halo 3, I just hope I don't beat that bastard in the first freaking day. I'm sure I will, or have people on my friends list that will want to do four player co-op as soon as I jump online. I'm down for it, just don't message me when I first turn on my xbox until I put the game in. I'm also going with Bungie's advice of playing the game on Heroic if you had any previous Halo experience. I'm rusty, but got some Halo experience, and hopefully gamerscore related to beating the game on different difficulties stack.
This week, getting John Woo's Stranglehold. My friend told me I should hold off until I see any reviews, and the official Gamespot review isn't up yet, but I read the IGN review, and it was pretty positive and gave the game an 8.1. It's not too long of a game, clocking in at 6 to 8 hours, but I don't need any overly long games at the moment. Still working on Wild Arms 5, then going to get back to Persona 3, hopefully. I say hopefully cause next week, the game I'm getting is Heavenly Sword. Another game that isn't too long, but I'm sure will have good action, some good replay value, plus it's one of the few big name PS3 games I'm getting this year along with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and probably Assasin's Creed. I might get Assasin's Creed on the 360 though since there isn't that much of a difference between PS3 and 360 when it comes to certain games. If I can get gamerscore on a game, I'd rather get the 360 version.
Well, the latter half of the month starting Sept. 19th, that's the start of my two weeks of vacation. That's also the day when Eternal Sonata for the X360 is coming out, thethird game of the month I'm gettting. Well, ifStranglehold and Heavenly Sword didn't stop my forward progress in Wild Arms 5, I'm really sure this will. Played the Demo, loved the fighting system, though don't know much about the story, butI heardit won't light the RPG world on fire. If you haven't already figured out the fourth game I'm getting then I'm saying itknow, Halo 3. I won't live, eat, and breath Halo 3 like Idid Halo 2 the first week it came out, thank goodness, but let'ssay, my testorone levels for that week will be raised, with me having to lower them by beating the **** out of anyone I can in Multiplayer. Covananent be damned, they'll get it the worst in single player.
When I think of it, I shouldn't be broke as hell, but it will certainly seem that way this month. This is the first, and hopefully the only monthwhere I'll be getting one game each week. Thankfully, no two games come out on the same day like Wild Arms5 and Metroid Prime 3 did at the end of last month. Though, October will be just asbad with Folklore for the PS3, Ace Combat 6 for the 360, andGuitar Hero 3? Not sure if it's October or November, but let's just say by the end of the year, I'll haveenough games to play without longing for the next big thingtocome out. Thinking of getting Virtua Fighter 5, but not sureif it'll be worth it since I'm still playing DOA4. I'll end the post right here, and tell me if I'm crazy or not wanting four games this month, ornot wanting more of what's coming out this month. Stay safe everyone.
Well, my friend's gameplan about getting a Wii changed overnight as I figured. Luckily I was able to get the car early that morning, and there was no argument from my mom.
So I got up to our work place around 6:20am, and met my friend. I came here instead of going to Gamecrazy cause I've found out the number of Wiis Gamecrazy received was 12 and I was 13th on the list. Quite the hassle if you ask me. Anyway, luckily we talked to the electronics department manager a few days earlier, and he'd promise that he'd hold 2 of the 3 Wiis the store received. Corporate had this crazy idea of having people that come in that morning and draw tickets for the Wii. The department manager wasn't too happy with that idea, and thought giving them to us was better.
After we got there, we learned they couldn't ring us up until the store opened at 8am. Well, I was willing to wait in the back in the lounge, but my friend wasn't so we drove around to look at other stores like Meiers and Walmart. I picked up Twilight Princess at Walmart and we headed back to the store around 7:20am. I guess waiting in the back should have been what we've done cause there was around four people waiting outside. We should have faked that we were coming in for work, but we didn't, and i felt a little twinge of guilt about what we were doing, plus, didn't want to be jumped by two middle aged women and a old man as we were walking out the store.
We drove to the back of the store, gave a call to the manager to let us in, we drove back around and was let in the store, but we were concerned about the now five people standing outside watching us go in the store. The manager lied and told them that the stored didn't get any Wiis which wasn't true. Thankfully, they all let, and none hung around to see if we came out with one. Just to be on the safe side, My friend had his put in a vacuum cleaner box, and mine put in a plain brown box.
8am finally arrived and we hurried to the front checkouts and paid for them with a little annoyance from a fellow employee. He asked if we got PS3s since he knows that we're big gamers. When we said no, he said he thought we were hardcore. I wanted to reply, but didn't think it was worth wasting my breath. Hurried home, hooked that bad boy up, and fired up Zelda since that was the only game i had, but later picked up Trama Center and Red Steel at gamestop with the credit I had. I was off that day, and my total playing time on the Wii was 11 hours and 30 minutes. More so than when I got the 360.
Let me be the first to say, I don't want to go through that mess of getting a new console like that ever again. I still feel a little guilty about those people, but screw them, they were probably sent by their kids, to get them. I know the Wii is a hard system to find now, but I'm sure more will be available in Feb. and March.
Well, here I am waiting for Gamecrazy to open to pick up my already paid for copy of Lost Planet. They better not tell me that they didn't get it in cause it should have been shipped to all stores around tuesday and wednesday. Even my store got it with me pricing them, tagging them and putting them in the back. If they tell me they don't have them or enough to cover all the reserves, I'll tell them to tell their shipper that they suck, and get my money so I can go elsewhere to pick it up. Hopefully, that won't be the case, but I'm not holding my breath cause in this world, there is no guarantees about anything unless it's in writing, even then, there's doubt.
Man, I can hear the march of time slowly going, so i guess instead of counting the seconds and minutes, after I get off the computer, I'll jump on Guitar Hero 2 and jam out and then get some RPGing going with Tales to pass the time. Well, see you later, be safe, don't do drugs, and good luck to those still searching for a Wii.
Well, the time for the Wii to come out is almost upon us. I thought I'd be more interested in getting a PS3 a long time ago, though due to the price of it, and the less than stellar game line up for the launch release window, I'm taking a pass on it for now, and probably get it next year when games like Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, and some other good games are out before I get a PS3
My anticipation for the Wii and Twilight Princess is growing even as I type this. The Wii, while it looks wacky at first, should be a whimsical console that many people will overlook just because of the Wii-mote. I was skeptical at first, but after learning that LoZ: TP was coming out with the Wii at launch, I just had to get one. Luckily, my friend hit me up as he found out that they were still giving out reserves at our local Gamecrazy. Being 13th on the list isn't bad, although I don't know how many systems Gamecrazy is getting that day. Well, if I'm screwed out of it there, I always have the option of going to my local Circuit City to pick it up there, just have to get my refund on my reserve first if the worst happens on that day.
Well, My friend and I are still trying to formulize a gameplan for that morning, though I worry about what we've come up with so far. He was going to pick me up around 9:30, we wait outside Hollywood video when we get there, and pick up our games and systems. The thing that worries me about that is my friend's willingness to stay awake that morning. He'll be working overnight on saturday, and gets off of work around 6:00am on Sunday. He's assured me that he'll stay awake, though I think he'll be too excited to go to sleep. I just know that'll be one long ass night for him. I'd go up there myself, but found out my mom is working 10:45 in the morning on Sunday, and Dad, he'll use the car to go to church around 10 or 11. If not, I'd go by myself to get it and both my friend and I could geek out on the phone a few hours after playing our games.
Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, and now only thing we have to figure out is where to go to celebrate for lunch of getting the system. I vote Applebee's but we've been there around three or four times during the summer. We'll figure something out. I Just hope when I get my system home, my bro doesn't hog the TV for too long playing Gears of War, cause he's off on that day as well. Dangnabbit. Also, I'm hoping that my nephew doesn't come over on that day as well, or he'll ask me a million questions while I'm playing Zelda. Maybe the day after, but not on the first day.
Good Luck to any of those getting the PS3 or the Wii and the games that you want for it. Though most of the luck is directed toward those getting the PS3. I hope I don't hear any horror stories, but there will bound to be some. Well, I'm out.
Yes, after a Sucky ass Christmas, the new year started a day early for me when I go Dead or Alive 4. Oh my god does this game freaking rock. They've made it faster, the counters needing more precise timing, the new characters, the whole shebang.
Only thing I want to know about it is what the hell does Kasumi's ending have to do with the story? That was one of those WTF moments if there was ever any in the DOA series. They could have had her fighting the forces of DOAtech like the rest of the mugen tenshin ninja, but they don't. I don't want to spoil the ending for Kasumi for those who have yet to get the game, just going to say, it will catch you off guard.
The Online part of the game, it's great. The are instantances where you enter a room that's laggy, or someone who has can't connect to the other players as good, and it lags. It happens, though what I wish Team Ninja and Microsoft could have fixed is it doing that. Imagine fighting a match at six frames a second, yes it gets even worst. Had to quit out of 2 matches because of that. The lobbies, takes some time getting used to, but come on, what the hell were they thinking of putting in a candy land like lobby. The avatars, I see you can do crazy stuff with them. Think the coolest one I've saw today was a Ninja with a blue straw hat on, and red and blue colored shades. Now that I'm through with collecting costumes, I can focus on getting bling for my ninja avatar, or getting a new one altogether.
I also got Wild Arms 4 just this Wednesday, and I'm in RPG bliss with that games. I like the battle system since it's more tactical, where you and your allies are positioned on the battlefield is key to victory, as well as the moves you make to obtain victory. The story seems a little cliche, but by this point I've stopped caring if RPGs have that cliche tone to it or not. Mostly everythings been done, and going to be hard not to do most of the same thing in some RPGs.
Anyway, so far, I'm seven or eight hours into the game, and fought three hard as boss battles against the Brionac Lt.s, with one having to be fought twice with no ability to save inbetween to get my MP back at the break point. I better brace myself, it's only going to get harder from here.
Also, the way that the characters level up bothers me a little. The stronger characters like Raquel and Jude are power leveling off of Yulie and Arnaud. The way exp is distributed is based on the number of enemies killed at the end of battle. With a Magic user with only one Offensive summon magic that uses FP which is obtained through actions of the party, and being attacked, hard to level Yulie up. So far Raquel is the highest in Level, with Arnaud and Jude at the same and Yulie trailing two levels behind.
Anyway, the game is building up, and can't wait to play more on my day off tomorrow. If you're unsure of this game, rent it, but it's a worthy buy in my book if you're a fan of the Wild Arms series, or if you're in need of an RPG to help make the wait for FF12 easier by a bit. Last I was told by Gamestop, FF12 comes out in August and that's a long wait, so this, Grandia 3, ShadowHearts 3 and whatever else RPG coming out will have to tide you over till FF12 comes out later this year.
Just what the title says. You know, didn't know there could be drawbacks to working overnight at a store. I thought the biggest had to be working on Christmas eve, but it gets worst. I have work freaking Christmast night. I nearly did flipped a table over after I saw that. Man, I'm just so freaking mad at the moment, but they told me they have to have at least someone in the store in case someone stupid enough to think they can get into the store sets off the alarm. I can see the reasoning behind that since the security company will call, the police will show up, and you'll have to call a manager to deactivate the alarm. There's no way in hell I can convince anyone else to take that shift, just no way.
Not even the cleaning guy will show up. I'll be a bit irrated, more past that point when I go in on that day. My parents don't know about it yet, and I'm sure they won't be happy with it either. My friend at work even said his parents wouldn't be happy about that. Everyone at work is off except me. They didn't even give me the decency to have me off on the 26th. Ruin my Christmas, and not have me off the next day.
I guess they think having me off on New Year's Eve will make up for that, but it doesn't since I don't party, or don't know of any parties I could go to. Shoot, I think mine will involve watching a good portion of TV, followed by some Dead or Alive 4 on through Midnight, that is if the game comes out next week. I wonder will anyone be playing that online on New Year's Eve as well? Working in Retail can have it's downsides as well, and why I'm looking for a better job come January. Hopefully, I can find one. Hope everyone has a better Christmas than I will have. K-mart freaking sucks.
Just what the title says, hell. Can't believe i only have one day off, and that's Friday, meaning, I'm working the overnight shift on Christmas Eve. It may sound like it sucks, but I'd rather work that shift, than be at the store during the day on Christmas Eve. Hopefully, won't be too hard getting people to stop shopping and get in line at one of the registers, though that wasn't the case last year.
Sure, I'll be sleeping for half of Christmas day, but Christmas won't be anything special. Working in retail, I've seen some of the things that people are willing to do to buy presents, even people putting up high layaways, like one for $950 worth of merchandise. Craziness is what it is.
I'm not tripping over Dead or Alive 4 being delayed anymore. Hell, if it ships next year, I'm totally fine with it cause I'm certain that it'll be all that I expect and a whole lot more. Itagaki-san didn't want to release a unfinished, unbalanced game and I respect that. I just wish the last five percent of the game being tuned, the Online part of it would be finished already. I'm guessing they might be doing something like last minute testing, and configuring the servers or something like that. I'm just waiting on that news annoucement that DOA4 has gone gold.
In the meantime, Call of Duty 2, PD0, Condemned, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted will have to keep me busy. I also didn't start my christmas shopping yet, but don't have many to buy for. I'll do all my shopping at the store I work at, and avoid the mall, or any store in the vicinity, cause traffic is a mess, people are getting ruder, and I hate searching for a parking space. Hopefully, I'll have enough left over to pick up Final Fantasy 4 Advance, and another game. Was thinking of either Kameo: Elements of Power, Dragon Quest 8, or Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Which one do you think I should get?
