Movie review #8: Tetsuo: The Iron Man

The purpose of a movie is to entertain and some times to educate. Is it possible for a movie to not only entertain, but also be an experience? Yes, I believe it can after watching Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

The movie begins with a guy heading home, and he is carrying a pipe. When he gets home, he puts the pipe into his leg. A few hours later, he gets run over by your average joe. Well, instead of getting the guy help, the man and his wife (or girlfriend?) drop the guy off into the middle of nowhere. A while later, the guy is shaving when he notices a strange bump on his face so he touches and blood sprays out of it.

What makes Tetsuo so great is the music! The music isn't just sad sounding during a sad scene or happy sound during a happy scene. Oh, no! The music is the humming and pounding of industrial machines, and it really helps the movie crawl under your skin.

Tetsuo does not have a lot of talking in it. It is more of screams and shrieks, but the actors did an amazing job of protraying their characters. The special effects for this movie are amazing, and the combination of flesh and metal looks amazing. The stop motion effects are pretty amazing too.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man is an amazing movie that not only entertains, but it also has a message about technology and a person. This is definitely a must see movie. I highly suggest checking out this movie. A perfect 5 out of 5. (At least check out the trailer at the end of this blog)

Info: Tetsuo: The Iron Man was released in 1989 and it is black-and-white. It has also influenced new generations of film makers some which include Meatball Machine's director, Junichi Yamamoto, and Tokyo Gore Police's director, Yoshihiro Nishimura.

My favorite fight scenes. Vol. II

In the first vol. the movies were mainly martial arts flicks (except for Hard Boiled), but they were all Asian films. So this time I'm going to try and post a more variety of films.

    #5 Rambo
    Actors: Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz

The best part of this movie is the final battle. It's epic and brutal. The fight begins with Rambo jumping into the back of a jeep with a mounted turret gun, and in the front seat is a the driver. Rambo just aims and fires at the guy then blood and gore splatters on the gun. This is one more satisfying fights I have seen in a movie in a long time.

    #6: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
    Actors: N/A

One of the best fights is the final battle against Giant Mecha baby Bowser. Whoa! What a fight! Not only this fight epic, and it is easily one of the greatest final boss fights IMO. Boweser starts out in the back ground then he slowly moves forward and you have to hit him before he reaches you.

    #7: Godzilla Final Wars
    Actors: Kane Kosugi, Don Frye

This movie is nothing, but pure action with a lot of great fights. However, there is one fight that hands down owns every other fight. The sad thing is that it is also the shortest fight in the entire movie. The battle is Godzilla vs. Zilla. In '98 a crappy US remake was made of Godzilla. To make a long story short, it flat out sucked, and the moster was given the name Zilla. So in Final Wars Godzilla gets to duke it out with Zilla.

    #8 Samurai Jack
    Voice Actors: Phil Lamarr, Mako

Ah, Samurai Jack! This is a show I grew up watching, and I hate that they never finished it. Any way, the show has a lot of good fights, but the one I remember the most is episode VII. In the episode a bounty is placed on Jack so the major of the episode is an epic fight scene in a forest where Jack fights tons and tons of bounty hunters after his head. And if you watched the show Dexter's Laboratory, you will remember the guy on the elephant from DL.

    Goodbye, Monk

Last night at 9:00 p.m eastern time, the series finale of Monk premiered. After eight seasons, this great show comes to an end andMonk's wife's case is finally closed. Earlier this year another show that I liked (King of the Hill) saw it's final episode, and both of these shows ended on great notes.

I want to thank the cast and crew for the job they have done. I've watched the show from the first episode to the last and every Friday night when the new episode would premiere I always watched it, and I'm really going to miss this show especially Tony Shalhoub as Monk. He did an incredible job.

There may not be any new episodes, but I'll never forget Monk.
