I am having a very good day today! I managed to fix my laptop and rid it off that god aweful Trojan which affected 165 key windows files! It got to the point where it changed the association of .exe files so nothing at all would even open, that's how bad it got! But with my geniusness I managed to get into command prompt even though it would not open as it is a exe but I managed to get into it a sly way and managed to fix and change back my exe associations so now everything is working fine, It would only open firefox and nothing else at one point! I have been stressing about it because it is my birthday on Monday and I am having a house party tonight and i REALLY needed my Laptop to put some music on, as what's a party without some good old rock and metal! The answer my friends is that it is not a party at all without rock and metal! So I am very happy I managed to fix it!

The party is to celebtrate my 26th Birthday! Damn I am getting old! but I still feel like I am a teen! Comic and action figure collecting and game playing will always be a part of my life no matter what age I am!

So I wish all of you a great weekend!

My laptop somehow got a Trojan last night that is affecting the userinit.exe file, meaning my internet will now no longer work, and my laptop will not boot from CD for some reason so I cannot repair the file! Anyone got any ideas??

I have ran about 5 virus scans, finds 4 things, it fixes them but the problem still remains, Malware Bytes which usually helps a great deal comes up with nothing, and Trojan Remover tells me what I already know about the userinit.exe file, and says it can't fix the file and i need to do it manually, so I have even replaced the userinit.exe file with a working one from this laptop (My girlfriends) but the problem still remains! Grrrrrrr!!!

Help please anyone, I have fixed many a PC before from hardware to software, and even build them in my spare time as a hobby, so I know my way around the inside and out of a computer but this has stumped me, what's puzzling me is why i cannot boot from CD!

Any help would be great! Thanks

I just watched the E3 videos from the Nintendo conference and they have made me happy! The main 2 titles being:

    • Mario Galaxy 2
    • Monado: Beginning of the world

I loved the first Mario Galaxy, so I am very hyped about a sequel considering we usually only ever see 1 main mario title on each console, well datring back to the N64 anyways, being Mario 64 and on GC Mario Sunshine, so I can't wait for a new one, the new abilities and gameplay look awesome and introducing Yoshie with the success of Mario Galaxy and am pretty sure that the sequel will be equally as good or perhaps better!

And Monado looks very interesting and it is about time we had a good RPG released on the Wii, Twilight Princess aside there have been very little, although i usually place Zelda games as being more of a action/adventure title than RPG, but I am looking forward to this and the video looks awesome also,

Also will probably get Wii Fit Plus as we have the first one and my girlfriend also uses it so we will probably get the plus, Sin and Punishment 2 also looks quite interesting, will wait and find out more about that.

My only let down really from the Nintendo Wii releases was the news or lack of news about a new Zelda for Wii, its always the bloody DS that gets the Zelda releases! They know that most Wii fans will be dissapointed this year by the lack of Zelda news!

I am am really looking forward to seeing Terminator Salvation, the trailers look awesome and i love the Terminator series, including Sarah Connor Chronicles, BUT, i am just wondering, do we ignore the entire Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines film and what happened on The Sarah Connor Chronicles, or will it all link together somehow? Just asking because a lot of fans thought T3 was so appalling that they do not include it as a movie in the series.

    Thanks

Whats with the mods being so slow of late? I have had things in the submissions queue for 4 days now and still pending? there were 8 in total, 3 of them got accepted 3 days ago but still waiting on 5, even though i submitted them at the same time and for the same show? What's going on?? I have more stuff to contribute but I would like the ones in the queue to be done first as I don't like flooding the contributions queues in one go!

Anyone else finding them to be slow of late? Is there some sort of holiday in the US or something that I do not know about?

I just became the editor of the awesome show 'Being Human', for those in the UK who have not seen this show yet i advise you to watch it, it is funny, dark and has a great cast, one of the UK's best in recent years if you ask me! It will also be airing in the US later this year, unsure of the date yet though.

    Other recent editorships gained are:

Another UK police crime drama set in London, starring the TV lead debut of the new Doctor Who Matt Smith

Traveller and adventurer Charley Boorman's newest outing, he travels from Ireland to Sydney using any form of travel he can come across, apart from commercial flights. Nice, interesting show, one of my favourite travelers, apart from Riku & Tuomas from 'Madventures', probably the best travel show ever, another show which i edit for!

Anyways...what do you guys think of my new profile banner?? Decided to make a new one as i was bored today, and i love the final piece, exactly what i wanted, i wanted a show i love aka Fringe and a comic book feel, so i think i hit the nail on the head there

Well it has been a long time since my last Rock The Bloig, and people seemed to enjoy them, and enjoy listening to some music they may or may not of heard of, generally of the metal/rock variety and mainly Finnish, Swedish and rest of the world. For those new to my Rock The Blog, my previous ones were:

This time on Rock The Blog i bring you:

    Amorphis

Amorphis are a 6 piece metal band that originated in Helskini, Finland in 1990, by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari and Esa Holopainen, they like to use the Finnish folklore legends 'Kalevala' in their lyrics, which is one of the best selling books in Finland and is full of short stories, myths and legendary creatures, which started out as a book of poems and was later made into a story.

They have released 9 albums since their creation in 1990, their first being 'The Karelian Isthmus' in 1991. Their discography is as follows:

    • The Karelian Isthmus - 1991
    • Tales from the Thousand Lakes - 1994
    • Elegy - 1996
    • Tuonela - 1999
    • AM Universum - 2001
    • Far From The Sun - 2003
    • Eclipse - 2006
    • Silent Waters - 2007
    • Skyforger - 2009 (Released May 27th)

The current band member formation is as follows:

    • Tomi Joutsen – Vocals
    • Esa Holopainen – Guitar
    • Tomi Koivusaari – Guitar
    • Niclas Etelävuori – Bass
    • Santeri Kallio – Keyboards
    • Jan Rechberger – Drums

Today I will be listing 2 Amorphis songs for your ears and eyes (Both links also include the videos for your viewing pleasure!)! I could not decide between the 2, so why not just add both! =), (To listen and view the videos just click the song titles below in red), First up is:

Alone - From the 2001 album 'AM Universum'

    And second up is:

House of Sleep - From the 2006 album 'Eclipse'

I hope you all enjoy the blog this week, i know it will probably not be to some of your tastes, but i think it is always good to listen to something new every now and again, some you may like, some you may not, but is that not how we give our opinions on things?

Thanks for reading, listning and watching, feel free to comment and let me know what you think of what i believe are a must for any metal/rock fan out there.

Hey everyone! it's been a while since my last blog, i have been on the site contributing, but kept forgetting to update my blog, so here it is!

I hope you all had a great new year and had lots of fun and drinks, if not the drinks then definatly the fun! What will 2009 bring you all? anyone got any good resolutions? mine is not much but i intend to eat abit more healthy and possibly shed a few pounds, not like a diet thing, as i hate diets, i find that they bore me, i intend to just eat more healthy and walk to work more, fix my bike and cycle there also instead of always relying on the bus as a means of transport! I would also like to learn to drive this year also, but in order to do that i need to sort my shifts out at work and get as many as possible in order to afford the lessons, i can already drive, as my dad learnt me the basics when i was younger, so he is going to give me some refresher courses on the baics again, this way i will save on at least 3 or 4 lessons which include the tedious parts of starting and stopping, and general maneuvers, as driving lessons are not cheap these days, i looked and they generally cost around £20 per hour/lesson, so if i manage to quickly get through the first 3-4 starter lessons in 1 lesson i should be able to save around £60 which will in turn go towards further lessons, well thats the plan anyway!

I got back into contributing lately, i used to contribute alot, but got sick and bored of the waiting for the mods to approve/deny them, it used to take about 30 mins to an hour for them to mod them, then it went to like 3 or 4 days, but i dont care about that anymore, i have been contributing to a show i love by Charlie Boorman called 'Ireland to Sydney By Any Means', which is actually titled wrong on here as it is indeed just called 'By Any Means', well thats what my DVD is called so i believe the DVD! , i love Charlie Boorman he is a great and fun person, he also done the awesome shows 'Long Way Round' and 'Long Way Down' with Ewan Mcgregor. He travels through 25 countries, covering over 20,000 miles using all manner of different modes of transport, avoiding commercial airlines at all costs, he uses over 100 different modes of transport from around the world to get to his destination of Sydney, it's very interesting, if you have not seen it, i recommend it to anyone! Oh and because of the contributing, i have finally past level 29, which i seemed to be stuck on forever! I'm now level 30 'Anchorman' which is awesome as i love the film, Ron Burgandy is amazing!

Now about the Wii!, i have been playing my Wii quite alot lately, it got to the point where i had not used it in about a month, and i was thinking, it was a shame i never used it, as i would have wasted my money, so i started again, and i forgot how awesome it was, and now i am hooked!

I got my games together and registered all my star points on club nintendo, and converted them into a 1000 points card, and i messed around with the internet settings, as i use a router but we connect my PC and my girlfriends laptop via direct ethernet cables, and i did not want to go and buy a LAN adapter for the Wii, so i set my router to be on wireless aswell as cable so my Wii is now on the internet! now here is the dissapointing part, i spent 500 of my Wii points on the Internet Channel, just incase for instance my PC and girlfriends laptop die then i would at least have a backup to go on the net, as our computers are well overdue for an upgrade, well i got the internet channel and i was very dissapointed, websites said it was great, and it was getting good ratings and reviews, but my dear god is it crap! it is just blurry and to read the text on a page you need to zoom right in, which means you have to annoyingly scroll left, right, up and down to navigate the page! i know i should not have been expecting much as it is at the end of the day a console, but i feel it was a waste of my 500 points, which i could have got a game with from the VC and WiiWare, i was going to get Fun! Fun! Minigolf as it looks no pun intended, Fun, but now i am 400 points short for that now as i have wasted 500 on the Internet channel, you should get a point refund if you dont like something, like a trial period of an hour or something, and if you dont like it, you get your points back!

But on a good note, i am now on the Internet and my Wii will keep updating and i can now go out and buy Call Of Duty 5 (World at War) and play online, so that should be fun!

I was also wondering if any Wii owners out there have any game recommendations for me?, the games i already have are:

    • Super Mario Galaxy
    • Super Paper Mario
    • Zelda: Twilight Princess
    • No More Heroes
    • Okami
    • Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Any good games out there?? I am a big RPG fan, but i feel there is a lack of them on the Wii at the moment, so will go for anything action/adventure mostly!

Hope all is well with everyone! till next time! take care!

Well i am back from my christmas trip to Finland, and i must say it was awesome! quite sad to be back but, i have next time to look forward to, hopefully the cabin in the summer (Cabin Pictures below), Christmas was great, a little different from the usual british christmas i am used to, as over there you open your gifts on the 24th and have a chill out day on the 25th! i got some great new DVD boxed sets from my girlfriend and her family, and some i bought myself! i also bought 6 more today, i love the sales

The DVD's i got for Christmas are:

    dvd

Note - The DVD on the left titled 'Yön Ritari' is the 'Dark Knight' =)

I am so happy i finally got Jericho, and Twin Peaks, as it has not been fully released in the UK yet, and probably won't, we only have season 1 released here and it only contains 7 episodes and it still sells for like £40, so i managed to get the 10 Disc Definitive Gold Box Edition, which contains everything Twin Peaks, Season 1&2, UK & US original pilots, and a rediculous amount of cool special features and extras!

And Madventures II is amazing, and is also not released in the UK, i am the editor for this show on here also, so check it out, Season 1 does not contain English subtitles but this season 2 set does! and they are making a season 3, which airs in Finland in March 2009, and for the first time ever they are going to show it on UK and US tv, in the UK on channel 5, not sure of the US channel, but this is awesome, because before it airs they are also for the first time going to show Madventures I & II in the UK also, and include subtitles for season 1! which i am hoping for as they might re-release season 1 with English subtitles.

The DVD's i bought today are:

    30 Days of Night (2 Disc) - (£3)
No Country For Old Men - (£4)
    Blood Diamond - (£3)
    This Is England - (£5)

    Hey everyone!

In June my girlfriend got me tickets to see Apocalyptica, and the date of the gig finally arrived the other day! and i must say they were awesome! i was amazed at how good 3 Chello players and a drummer can sound live! they rocked! No singing at all, which i knew was going to happen as like 99% of their music does not contain lyrics, but they sometimes get guest singers in on some tracks such as Cory Taylor from slipknot, Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace and Sandra Nasić from The Guano Apes!

    Apocalyptica

They covered some Metallica songs just on Chello from their "Metallica by Four Chellos" album, they sounded amazing! some of the songs being "Sad but true", "The Unforgiven", "Enter Sandman", "One" and "Nothing Else Matters"!

If you have not heard anything by this awesome finnish 4 piece then i suggest you have a listen!

Speaking of Finland, me and my girlfriend are heading there in 6 days to spend christmas with her mam and sisters!, i cannot wait! i have been to Finland a fair few times, but never for Christmas, we are going into the forest to chop down our own tree which will be awesome as i have never done this before, then we are going to her cousins winter cabin in the woods for a few nights, then onto Helsinki to stay with our friend Sari for a few days and visit some other friends we have in Helsinki, then onto her mam's house over Christmas! i can't wait, i am very excited! yet a little sad, as i have always spent christmas with my parents and sister, but this year i will be missing it, and my sister cannot make it home either, so this will be the first christmas my parents have spent alone as just the two of them in like 24 years! but we made a deal, i will pop on windows live on christmas day for a little while with the webcam on oh and another thing that i will find strange is that in Finland they have their Christmas dinner and open the presents on Christmas eve, and spend the Christmas day relaxing!

So i will not be online for 2 weeks starting from the 17th Decemberm well i might pop on for a little while on the lazy days while i am there

Oh and finally i would like to state how shocked i am at the new Battlestar Galactica Season 4 set! this is it:

    season 4

Notice this just states "Season 4", which to me makes you think the complete Season 4 set, but NO!, This says season 4, but only contains the first 10 episodes on Season 4, no special features either, now call me picky but shouldnt this set clearly say "Season Four - Part One"?? some places are charging £35/$70, so it would not suprise me if some of these get baught as Christmas presents as it has just been released, and make alot of people dissapointed as it only contains 10 episodes! only to find that next year when the last episodes of Season 4 air, their will be another set released that will more than likely be called "Season Four - Part Two".

I think this is a very sloppy boxed set, it should be taken of the shelves and reprinted to clearly state that it is only part one and NOT as you would assume, they whole of season 4! things like this make me angry, i knew that it could not be the full season 4 as it has not all aired yet, but alot of people will not know this!

........A autographed 2009 calender of the rather fit Gemma Atkinson!

I shall be giving this to my good friend Mabs for chsristmas, as much as i would love to keep and perv on this, i don't think my girlfriend would approve!...or would she? hmmmm not worth the risk

Oh and another good note, i am finaly getting my holiday pay this week! the payroll office actually said they made a mistake! so i can finaly do some christmas shopping soon!

How is everyone in the start of this festive period?

Well it has been a while since my last confession...i er mean blog! =)

So.how the hell is everyone? the festive season approaches, so i am guessing some of you are excited for Christmas, some are probably getting stressed, and some excited yet stressed all rolled into one! for me the answer would be stressed!

I only have one more pay day before i go away to Finland for christmas, and i am due 8 days worth of holiday pay from work, which was going to be my christmas present buying money, but as you probably all know from my previous blogs that getting my holiday pay from work is no easy task, well it should be easy, all payroll have to do is total up how much i am owed from that 8 days, even i can work this out to be £260, but nooooooo they are a complete bunch of retards and they screwed me over again, so with the no money that i have yet to save for Finland, and the lack of cash i have to buy presents with, and the complete morons at payroll, all of this totals up to me having a nice stressfull run upto chsristmas! i kicked off at work and said they are constantly letting me down, and i NEED that money within the next week or, that have pretty much ruined my christmas! idiots! i spoke to me friend who has worked for a few payroll companies before, and he said that if they make an error, you should not have to wait until your next payday, they can just tranfer it to your bank and it does not cost them a penny to do so, so i told me boss this and she is going to sort it out for me, she even promised i would have it soon, wether it be in my bank or in cash, so fingers crossed i get it soon, or i am royaly screwed! I am sure it will be ok though i will just keep complaining and complaining some more, if they dont give me it i will take further action and go straight to head office, and boy my boss does not like anyone going above her, but if needs be, then so be it!

Anyway i have seen this floating around some blogs and thought i would take part, 22 questions answered using the 3rd letter from my name which will be 'R' from Jeric-Ho, i would have use 'V' from Dave but answering 22 questions beginning with the letter V was just adding more stress to my already stress packed body

    3. Street: Rothbury Gardens (My street )

I won another prize a few days ago on tv.com, i won the series 1 & 2 dvd boxed set of the rather funny 'Star Stories' in a competition! so that brings my tv.com prize total upto 2 now, last time being The Happening on DVD a few weeks ago! not bad if i do say so myself

Well if you had read a few blogs back then you will know i booked a Amsterdam Mini cruise for my mams 50th birthday! we got back yesterday and it was awesome! a very fun weekend indeed! Amsterdam is a beautiful place to visit and will definatly go back again! although they do seem to be obsessed with sex! every street you could guarentee there would be at least 2 sex shops, possible even a live sex show! strange to see along a usual high street but funny at the same time! we happened to wander into the red light district, as protitution seems to be legal over there aswell as drug use, we walked into a street and there were 6 women wearing nothing more than their bra and pants sitting in the window, trying to get people to go in, but i must admit, thery were hideous and must have no respect for themselves, the funniest yet horriblest thing was that you could see their beds in the backgound, and all they do is close the curtain, at this point on our walk past, an old man walked in and she closed the curtain! dirty dirty man! lol!

The city itself was really nice though, nice scenic views of the canals and cobbled streets! would recommend it to anyone!

The cruise was also very fun, i got 2 cabins one for me and my girlfriend and one for my parents, the cains were ealy compact yet had everything you needed, bed, shower, toilet, sink, and a massive mirror for your girlfriend to stare into for hours while she gets ready

There were 3 pubs/night clubs onboard, we mainly stayed in one called the Sports Bar, which was a nice place, you could even smoke onboard which i thought was strange, yet good, considering it was extremely windy on the deck and raining! it was in a small corner with a large ashtray/table with a huge extractor fan above! drinks were cheaper than i thought, in Finland we pay like 5/5.50 euro's for a pint, so i was expecting the same, but it was 3.75 a pint which was not bad, so i must admit i was pretty drunk

If you were to get bored, there is also a 2 screen cinema onboard and a casino!

All in all it was a great trip and would definatly go again, hopefully in the summer time so it is warmer on the deck, as their is a deck bar and grill at the back of the ship, but it was closed due to bad weather, so maybe next time!

Aaaanyways....how are you all? hope you are keeping well! has much happened with the site updates while i have been away?

I am unsure as to how successful the blackout was but i am going to write my Top 5 Changes anyway (well 6 really), so here goes:

1 - Do away with the annoying on the eyes and migraine inducing white background and the boring blue colour theme, everything looks the same, white and blue, i know websites are supposed to be consistent with their theme and colours but it is just plain boring. If they cannot change it for fear of more people complaining about a different colour then an easy option would be a simple skins options, even Gamespot has an option of either white on black or black on white, you have it on a sister site, then surely you awesome (sarcastic) designers can think of something.

2 - Extend the tracked blog section to more than 4, this annoys me very much as i like to read blogs by other members and it is easy to miss them as sometimes they do not show in my tracked blog section on my profile page as it only shows 4, call me lazy all you like for not clicking on see all tracked blogs, but i have never really had to do this before as the top 10 on the old theme was sufficient.

3 - This may seem petty but bring back the emblems for editors of shows and person guides, the whole site would be pretty much a shell if it was not for us users who take our own time to sit and contribute to your database, and some of us work very hard doing this....for free i may add, so some of us like to have our editor emblems back as we have in-fact worked for them.

4 - Restore the BB code so we can bold, italic, colour, number e.t.c. with ease like we used to have! blogs look ridiculously boring now and not everyone knows about or how to use tags.

5 - If you are going to have a expand section in the upper right corner then i have an idea..........why not make it work and make it worth even bothering to expand, i currently still have news in there from 2007 announcing the Life On Mars sequel Ashes to Ashes, the news headline reading 'Mars' Sequel Lifts Off at BBC' and it shows that i currently have 12 friends online, yet i can only 3 of their names are visible to click on, where are the other 9?? please test things before dumping them on us to test for you

6 - Not sure about anyone else but i liked the Pie chart showing the genre percentage of my favourite shows, and the list of how many contributions i had made that were accepted, pending or rejected, this should be shown on profiles for easy viewing, instead of having to go to contributions on the left and then into submission status, why make something so important to some users so out of the way instead of leaving it where it was.
