What annoys me ...
Cliffhanger Endings To Episodes That Are Never Resolved!
They have always bugged me to no end. Why bother writing a cliff hanger if you never plan on following up on it? Two of the worst offenders:
1) Lost - In a dramatic ending, Jack asks Ana Lucia to train an army to presumably take on the others. After this, the issue of the army is never mentioned, and Ana Lucia is later killed off and forgotten about.
2) 24 - A pivotal character, Charles Logan, flatlines in an ambulance after being stabbed by his ex-wife. No mention of Charles, nor his wife, is ever made again.

17Mar 07Anyway, I'll be brief. This is a petition to have the default avatar of the dummy changed to a new one.

Why the avatar should be changed
- It just isn't a good avatar. It's creepy and distracting. There should be a more neutral avatar for members who haven't selected an avatar, such as simply the TV.com logo.
- It is just annoying to constantly looks at, and is very distinct, and makes it easy to confuse new members
- Topics are often dragged off-topic when members tell new members with the default avatar to change the their avatar
- It would take away the common issue of people starting threads asking for the image to be changed
If you support changing the default avatar, simply make a comment below, which will count as signing the avatar- Posted Mar 17, 2007 12:37 am PT

16Mar 07Kirsten recently reported that the CW show Veronica Mars has being given the axe, and will not be returning for a fourth season. Veronica Mars fits alongside shows like Friday Night Lights and Arrested Development in the usual 'critically accalimed, but not watched' category.
Many people on various forums are furious at the CW for the cancellation of Veronica Mars. While I never really watched the show, I think CW made the right choice, and this is one of those rare cirumstances where cancellation of a show was fully justified.
Veronica Mars has being given 3 seasons, numerous great timeslots, and plenty of advertising, and it still hasn't managed to garner acceptable ratings - it got more than a fair chance. The CW is perfectly entitled to cancel it, and they should have done so sooner in fact.- Posted Mar 16, 2007 1:40 pm PT

Television Without Pity (TWoP) is a a forum I sometimes lurk at. They take the 'without pity' part a lot too seriously - people are praised for whinging and complaining, those who don't agree with the majority are shouted down, and usually banned, those who don't spell with perfect spelling and grammar are swiftly banned, and those who don't agree to the iron-fisted mods and recappers are swiftly banned. And somtimes when one of the mods is in a bad mood *cough* Miss Alli*cough* they decide to go on a merry banning purge, banning members with little justifcation. Apart from the usual whining on the site, there are occasionally some funny posts - which are usually reported in the 'traffic court', an area of the forum for goody-goods to tattle on fellow formers for failing to follow the strict rules. But anyway, enough babbling. Here are a few of the better posts I've stumbled upon recently from that site ...
From 'too much information' files:
You might want to rethink your suspicion. I was a daily meth user for
eight years and could never get below 200 lbs. I think it's very
possible she's a tweaker.
So you were an obese meth head for 8 years? Great ...
From 'not enough information' files:
When did Kim come into the picture? And how is she pregnant with J.D.'s
child if she and J.D. did not have sex? Also: [small voice] Can you
actually get pregnant without having sex? [/small voice]
Back to sex education for you.
From the 'dying in the name of freedom' files:
This person was unnecessarily rude to another poster
I'm not sure if I'm filling out this report correctly, but I would like to
report this person for responding so rudely ("shut your hole") to a
poster's innocent compliment.
I thought the rules in this forum were that we treat one another with manners. Shouldn't people who are
in charge of the forums lead by good example instead of demonstrating
the very behavior that is supposed to be prohibited??
That was a post from the 'traffic court' area of TWoP, a place for posters to tattle on each other for rule breaking. Finally for once, a poster was being reported for actual rule breaking (in this case rudeness) instead of say, forgetting a comma or incorrect capitalization. Unfourtunatley, the poster they were reporting was infact a recapper, Erin. I bet she was thrilled with that And I bet she must have being thrilled with banning him.
From the 'sheltered child' files:
Poster #1
Adrian Pasdar misses the top of his left thumb (he accidentally cut it off
when he was constructing sets a couple of years back).
Poster #2
Ewwww! TMI!
Uh ... yeah. All I can say is I hope for their sake they never ever see Saw or Hostel.

14Mar 07Ok, I'll admit, this has nothing to do with TV, but I thought I'd post this anyway.
Las Vegas is a city known around the world for it's glamour, glitz, and degeneracy. Once an ailing mob town, Las Vegas is now one of the fastest growing cities outside the third world.
Development on The Las Vegas Strip has taken off in recent years, with many so-called 'megaresorts' being build in the last few years, such as The Wynn, The Venetian, and Bellagio.
Stardust was an older casino in Las Vegas, with a rich history, and a gaudy space theme to it. The casino was popular to 'low-rollers', due its low rates, and low minimum bets limits at the tables. However, the owners of Stardust realized they could make more money by imploding the humble Stardust, and building a megaresort in its place.
Last night, the Stardust was imploded, with a fireworks display to send off casino with a bang.
The main tower itself which they imploded was only 17 years old and vrey nice inside, which seems like a bit of a waste.

An ultra-luxury megaresort named 'Echelon' will be replacing Stardust, with a price tag of a whopping four billion dollars that exceeds the gross domestic product of many third world nations. Echelon is expected to open circa 2010.- Posted Mar 14, 2007 5:26 pm PT

6Mar 07As a fan of Prison Break, Caroline Reynolds, politics and tie-in websites, I was particularly pleased to find out that Fox has created a mock re-election website for Prison Break president Caroline Reynolds. Though the timing was a bit off, as they uploaded it after Caroline Reynolds had resigned from the presidency.
The website looks proffesional enough, and provides an interesting look at the Prison Break universe.
I was also somewhat amused to notice that Caroline listed that she supports traditional family values, though she herself has being banging her own little brother. Ah, the hypocrisy of politicans ...- Posted Mar 6, 2007 7:17 pm PT

FOOTBALL WIVES
Football Wives is one of 15 drama pilots competing for about 7 spots on ABC's schedule. It was arguably ABC's most antipcated pilot - unitl plans for a potential Grey's Anatomy spin-off surfaced. The pilot, which is currently in pre-production and will be begining filming shortly, is based on popular British series Footballer's Wives. Don't count on it being too close to the British series however, as Football Wives will be somewhat different, it will feature similar, though not identical, storylines in the pilto, but as the show goes on, it will take its own course, completely seperate from the British series. Also expected it to be heavily toned down to meet tough US Censorship standards.
PLOT
The show is set in Orlando, Florida, and follows the lives of Brian and Donna Reynolds, once struggling students at Syracause University, their lives are changed forever after Brian is drafted to play in the NFL for the Orlando Stingrays, and is given a multi-million dollar contract. The couple must adapt to the rich life overnight, and it ain't gonna be easy. The show also features a large ensembe of other 'football wives' and their husbands.
CAST
Football Wives has already announced that several talented actors have joined the pilot. While most characters from Football Wives are presented, there are some notable absentees, notably Conrad, Amber and Hazel, all left out apparently because ABC didn't want 'LGBT themes' to be present in this particular show. ABC also requested that the characters have their last names 'Americanized'
Donna Reynolds
Played by Lost star Kiele Sanchez, Donna is the main character of Football Wives. Brian's wife and high school sweet heart, she's described in casting sides as being young, sweet, and uneasy with her new wealth. She's also hiding a secret from Brian - they have an illegitimate child from their high school days, who Brian is unaware of him. Unfortunatley for Donna, the child's adoptive parents have tracked Donna down, and are black mailing her.
Brian Reynolds
Donna's husband, a former University student who has recently joined the Orlando Stingrays, and has become a millionaire overnight, and will be subject to much temptation in his new life. The role is currently uncast.MY VIEW
So far, Football Wives has a strong script (though being somewhat campy) a talented and well-known cast, and promising hype building it, which should increase its chances of being picked up for a series order. Though note that last year, pilots 20 Quesitons and Secrets of a Small Town had all of those (Secrets of a Small Town was infact the highest testing drama of the fall season, behind Heroes) though no reason was ever given for those shows not being picked up, I wouldn't have being surprised if cost was a factor. It also seems like Football Wives will be a costly show, which could hurt its chances of being picked up. However, I hope this show is picked up. I'm pleased with all the casting choices so far, and if the casting was up to me, I'd also cast Maggie Grace as Nicole Holt, and Penny Johnson Jerald as Jackie Johnson. If you have any questions about Football Wives, feel free to post them below, and I'll see if I can help. Next week, I'll be posting some infomation about another ABC pilot, Mr and Mrs Smith. Thanks for reading.

24Feb 07Does anyone think that it was a less on Microsoft's part? Though
it's tiny matter, it's annoyed me a little, as thanks to Windows
Vista, the promos have now being slightly reduced in length to
accomdate Windows Vista placement, and the promo itself now airs in a
series of small angled windows that aren't easy to see. Before we used
to get longer promos that weren't in small angeled windows, but thanks
to Windows Vista ...- Posted Feb 24, 2007 2:54 am PT

25Jan 07Well, I've decided to get into blogging on this site.
I'll be probably posting news and my own views on both shows that interest me, and shows under development, which is something I also have interest in. Maybe my thoughts on the entertainment industry every now and then, and occasional blogs about my personal life if i feel it, though this is a blog on a TV site, not MySpace or something like that, so don't count on hearing to much about me myself.
Well, that's it for my first blog entry.- Posted Jan 25, 2007 7:01 am PT
