    My Favorite Conference @ E3

It's been a week since E3 came and went. And the big 3 did there thing and showed off some stuff. Nintendo was so boring that I couldn't stay awake to watch it, so I didn't really comprehend what was going on. I caught up on some stuff they did through tidbits mentioned around Gamespot. Microsoft well I already mentioned about them on my last blog so I will just get to the point.

Sony!!!!! Yeah ok I'm biased so I only have a PS3 My wife will never let me have two consoles. Even though Sony still did their song and dance about the numbers in the beginning (which happened to be the most boring part) they showed off some impressive games that will come out later this year or early next year. Aside from the games, they parts that grabbed my attention where the unveiling of the PSP Go and the motion control wands using the eyetoy. The PSP Go is a great partner to the Sony lineup. The very reason I never got a PSP was because of the UMD. Since the Go doesn't have one I'll be looking forward to getting one, just maybe. And I don't know about anyone else but Kaz Hirai was on the stage too long and talked too much about the PSP Go.They really should let the games do the talking.

Now the motion control wand was my absolute favorite. Yes, many people say it's ugly but what those people failed to realize is that the wands are in the DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE. It'a prototype!!!! You don't make a fancy ass device on the get go you know. You first get the thing to work and work properly, then you work on the looks and feel of the peripheral. Ok off topic hear...the wands were awesome. 1:1 movement and 3D tracking is cool, plus since you are actually holding something in your hands it will feel more natural in a game setting than Micorosoft's offering.

Now for the gripes. I wish they had more info on Agent rather than a stupid logo. I love the idea of playing a game during the cold war era. It should make for an epic cloak and dagger style of game. Also I wish Sony did their conference more like Microsoft, more glitz 'm glam than sales figures. But it wasn't too bad, I still heard a bunch of applause from the audience...just wish that I could've been there

To anyone who may read this please note that this I just me putting my thoughts in writing and it is not meant for flaming or trolling. I do like playing Xbox 360 games when I visit my brother-in-laws house, but that's just once in a while.

    Microsoft E3 Press Conference

So I just finished watching the coverage of Microsoft and was pretty impressed by the latest tech offering for the 360, Project Natal. Basically an eye toy on steroids. Given the latest advancements in technology today as opposed to when the eye toy came out I'm not surprised to how much better Natal is. You can basically use your whole body to control the game or navigate the dashboard, it even has voice and face recognition.

They also showcased an interactive character named Milo and it was damned freaky how interactive the character was. Freaky in an awesome way and also freaky as in well...freaky. If you haven't seen it then you won't get what I'm talking about. Go watch the Microsoft conference and watch the latter part of it. Like the last 10 minutes or so.

Oh yeah I was also amused by how they were touting the 360 as to having the best games from all genres around. Oh please, sure they got some great games but there are some sick games on the PS3 and Wii too. Oh and the instant watch 1080p movies you can watch no more needing a disc to watch movies...I enjoy holding on to my Blu-Ray discs and reading the back info of movies that I get. Can't do that with there digital streams can they.

I'll be looking forward to Sony's press conference, I really, really hope that they will showcase some mind blowing stuff.

Finally got my PS3 back! Darn 2.42 update, darn you!

I am very happy to have a working PS3 again!!! Mine crapped out a while back like a month or longer due to that damned FW 2.42 update. After I updated to 2.42 I haven't really played much so it didn't crap out right away like some other poor saps like me. I eould play Kung Fu Panda with my daughter a few times for an hour or two.

Then one time while playing the game froze. So I turned it off then on and it was fine again. It wasn't until I got MGS4 than my PS3 took a dump. Shortly into the game right after the cutscene with the MKII was when the game froze and my PS3 became a glorified DVD player.

I searched online and found a post on playstaions forum about it and found quite a bunch of people who had the same problem. Turned out that for some strange reason, the code in the update somehow affected the hardware...I guess it did something to the blu-ray diode or something like that (one poster mentioned that). So a future updated would not fix it.

I tried a bunch of suggested "fixes" though, mainly because I couldn't find the receipt of when I bought my PS3 (took me two weeks to find it ) Fortunately since it was still under warranty I didn't have to hassle with CS reps to avoid the $150 cost to repair the console. I did the repair request online and got a "coffin" for my PS3 to send for repair shortly. And the repair was surprisingly quick. My PS3 arrived at the repair center in Texas on Saturday I think since it was an overnight ship. And then I got it on Friday.

Anyways I'm happy I have my PS3 which is the same one too not a refurb model. Now I just have to transfer my save data again and all the other stuff I had in there again. But at least I got to play MGS4 and nothing bad happened. I think I'll run it through its paces later this week when I have a chance to see if it'll take another dump on me.

This just kinda reminds me of the RROD's with the 360's. Or the 2.40 update, I just hope there will be no more hiccups with my console.

If anyone happens to read this and is curious to what I'm talking about here's a link to the Playstation forum
