To Dare is to Do

It's a blog. F***ing brilliant.

If you want to track me, go ahead. If you send me an invite to a union, however, you may be subject to my wrath.
Hyper's got a brand new look

Well, in case you have yet to notice, I have changed my profile theme. It has gone from being mostly Sonic (I did have a Pit sig, though) to a The World Ends With You style. I do still have my Sonic blog header, but I'll change it soon.

I also need some brushes for GIMP... could anyone give me a link? Or, for that matter, any sort of link for GIMP add-on things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brawl gets a release date (FINALLY!) and a rant about Mario Kart Wii

Fellow Europeans, I bring you good news: Brawl has been dated. We'll receive it on 27th June.

And I think I speak for all of us when I say: FINALLY! ABOUT F***ING TIME! AHAHAHAHAHA!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

And as most of you should know, I have Mario Kart Wii, released in Europe on the 11th April. I got it on release day for £29.71. Hells yeahs. But there is a major problem with this game, the details of which follow...

One day my sister asked to have a go on the game. She had asked me beforehand, but I didn't allow it, knowing her infuriating skill at racing games (and Sonic 2) and her ability to beat me. However, this time, being fairly confident in my skill, I let her try it. She didn't get it at first, and, after laughing at her, I proceeded to leave her alone.

Big mistake.

She emerged, several hours later, and asked me to watch her again. I agreed, mainly because I wanted to see her fail again. But she didn't. She was doing fine. She was good. I did not mind much, as I had more experience and would have more play-time than her anyway.

The following morning, she asked if she could play again. And the floodgates burst open.

I could not get on it at all. If my sister wasn't on it, then her boyfriend was on it. If he wasn't on it, then my mum, the most un-gamer person in the world, would be on it.

That doesn't seem too bad, does it? It's doing what Nintendo wanted it to do.

But I am not Nintendo.

I do not encourage sharing.

I am selfish.

And it's my motherf***ing game!!

I have to resort to staying up later then everyone else and playing it while they're asleep with the volume turned down! It's an outrage!!

Speaking of which, I might try to sneak in a game now... so I'll see you guys later.

Hyper's video game recommendations

OK, I can't do the audio blog right now. It's a mixture of me having a blocked noze and laziness. However, I will still have the review of Panic at the Disco's new album Pretty. Odd., as promised. First however, I'd like to recommend a couple of games:

The World Ends With You (DS)
Square-Enix

Released: April 18 (EU), April 22 (NA)

What's this? A completely original game? By Square, now known mainly for FF cash-ins? Is this a dream? Well, literally speaking, no. However, the game, as gathered from previews and a couple of reviews, sure as hell plays like one.

Neku Sakuraba, a 15 year-old boy with a hobby for music and graffiti, wakes up in what seems to be the Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo, Japan. With no idea why he's there, he opens his hand to realize he is holding a strange black pin. After flipping it with his hand, the thoughts of the people surrounding him began to flow into his head at once. Surprised, Neku discovers he is able to read the minds of others, and assumes it has something to do with the black pin he is holding.

A cellphone starts to ring in his pocket, and he can't tell whether it is his or not. A text message appears: "Reach 104. You have 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure. -The Reapers". After discovering he can't delete the message, a timer of 60 minutes imprints onto his right hand. Neku is in Shibuya to play the "Reapers' Game" which spans a total of 7 days. All participators of the Reapers' Game have a black pin with a skull embedded on it. The Reapers' Game has certain rules, which prevent him from leaving the Shibuya district. If Neku doesn't complete the game, he will be stricken from existence along with Shiki Misaki, a girl who is another participant in the game. Shiki and Neku forge a pact to work together with her for the week.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. But original.

The gameplay is sort of like Elite Beat Agents, but with both screens. You can also buy pins and clothes to power yourself up, but you have to keep an eye out, as they lose power as they become out of fashion.

Again, pretty weird. But original. This description could pretty much sum up the game. I strongly recommend this game. If it doesn't sell well, then it could scare developers off the idea of originality. And franky, in a world of video game clones and rehashing we really need originality.

Mario Kart Wii
Nintendo
Released: April 11 (EU), April 27 (NA)

This doesn't really need an introduction, but I'll give it a shot.

Mario Kart has always been a brilliant (and more enjoyable) alternative to more realistic racers. Items, environmenal hazards and simple controls are the main points in which Mario Kart triumphs, and this Wii edition seems to add even more to this already great blueprint. What, you may ask? Bikes and online play, I reply, a definite smugness showing on my face. Sure online may not seem as much of an addition, but as you can now have twelve racers battling for worldwide supremacy, it's definitely a step up.

Quite simply, this is a must-have for Mario, driving, Nintendo and Wii fans, and if you don't buy it, you'll be missing out on a great game.

Well, that's all. Buy the games, and I'll be happy. And everyone likes a happy Hyper!

Ten MORE things

I've been tagged twice again. What are the odds?

Well, I guess I have to give ten more things about myself...

  1. I hate this tagging s***.
  2. I once went to France when I was like three, and shouted 'I HATE FRENCH PEOPLE!" at the top of my voice in the middle of a French parking lot.
  3. I don't like being invited to unions.
  4. I like several different genres of music.
  5. I am very opinionated.
  6. I believe Sonic 2 is flawless.
  7. I tend to procrastinate a lot.
  8. I think that hardly anyone has talent any more.
  9. I am prone to hero worship.
  10. I've run out of things to say.

Now if you don't mind, I'm going to issue a warning.

Don't tag me, don't send me invites, and don't piss me off, or I'll smash your head in with a bunch of coins in a sock.

OK? Then see ya later.

Ten things

Yep, I've been tagged. Twice. So (if I'm doing it right) I have to say ten things about myself you may not know.

  1. I live in the English countryside.
  2. My favourite song is 'Everlong' by Foo Fighters.
  3. I can play the bass guitar very well.
  4. I was bullied when I was younger.
  5. I have tried to commit suicide three times.
  6. I don't believe in organized religion.
  7. My mother was born in Jamaica.
  8. My father was born in an English RAF base in Malta.
  9. I don't drink or smoke.
  10. My cousin is Abgoj.

Anyway, (If this is right) I have to track five people, so I track Abgoj, AsakuraHao2004 (to annoy him even more ), LosGrinchos (To annoy Hao to the extremes), zerogravitybabe, and Faller88.

In other news, I should have my audio blog up either tomorrow or Monday.

This is Hyper; signing off.

Read this if you're my friend.

OK, I'm considering getting rid of a lot of my friends. And since I don't have a lot of friends, this would make it pointless to make an audio blog.

I follow FSX's ethos; you post in my blog, I'll post in yours. And since hardly anyone posts in my blogs, this means I don't post in yours. This means I won't get know you, eventually ending with you being cut.

On a side-note, I got Panic at the Disco's new album Pretty. Odd.. Why? Because apparently I'm a screaming, teenage girl. Anyway, I might do a review of it soon, so keep an eye out.
