Welcome. This is my new feature I was talking about in addition to The Headshot Chronicles. I will try to keep THC up to date but this may interfere. This new feature is as you can see called The Games of The Month, in which I will be going into detail of the upcoming games coming out this month. Each week I will pick one or two games (depending on how many games are going to be out this month) whether it be out or coming out in a few weeks but it will deal with the current month, this time being August. I was thinking about doing this until the end of '07 seeing as the upcoming games are plentiful and seeing how well this goes I may continue after '07. Let's Get Started.
August. This month isn't filled with too many games like September or November but it has a few key games that will kick off the gaming extrevaganza. August's 1st week game is...
Bioshock

Release Date- US: August 21st EU: August 24th
Platform- Xbox 360 and PC
Price- PC: $50 or $60 for Limited Edition
360: $60 or $70 for Limited Edition
Difference between platforms? Yes, PC has customized controls for faster switching between plasmids compared to the 360 version. Collector's editions come with a figurine of a Big Daddy.
Genre- Mainly a shooter but with many RPG elements with a strong atmosphere that is unlike many other first person shooters.
What it's about- In the failed utopia of Rapture, you must survive and adapt as you gain strange powers, hacking abilities, and modable weapons.
Enemies- Splicers, Big Daddys, Little Sister, Security Bots. Big Daddys and Little Sisters have a shared bond in which the little sisters get adam (currency and life force of Rapture) while protected from splicers (corrupted inhabitants of rapture) by Big Daddys. Don't mess with the little sisters and you won't have to face the Big Daddys but where's the fun in that?
Length- Somewhere between 15-20 hours for main story, no side quests.
Full game length (all paths completed)- estimated 40-50 hours.
Options- Many ways to play the game whether it be hacking security bots to take down you enemies, turn your enemies against each other with plasmids, or take them all down with brute force.
Why you should get this game- Just the innovation and size of Bioshock makes it worth it's price point. The supposed spiritual successor to System Shock 2 will please many fans and will kick off the gaming madness stretch of 2007.
Rent or Buy? Buy. The mere gameplay hours won't provide the full experience if rented.
The Big Picture- With Bioshock's amazing visuals, wide range of powers, skills, weapons, and paths to take, Bioshock will probably be the game of the month for many gaming websites and magazines.
Predicted Score- 9.0
Fin.
The Coming Games of August '07
Stranglehold
Loki
Medal of Honor: Airborne
That is it for now. Tell me what you think of my new feature, suggestions and comments are welcomed.
See you around,
