Tony Hawk Gertsmann Strikes Again
The title is kinda of a joke, but I have say that I absolutely hated Jeff's review of Skate...Well actually the review itself wasn't too bad but the score was totally out of whack from the text. Also, I'm totally confused at how he arrived at the score he did from not only the text he wrote but also because of his good and bad summary. Skate is admittedly a pretty niche game, it is anything but your standard affair, and I think the true heart of the game is in the skating itself and not at all in the missions themselves. Basically the game was designed almost solely around its controls and environment, so much that if the controls and and environment were bad the game would be a total failure. However, the game's environment is breath taking and the controls are completely brilliant (a perfect mesh of realism and accessbility), so I don't understand why the game got a 7.5...Sure a 7.5 is decent, but if you were to just take a gander at everyone else's review you'd get the idea that this game is doing something revolutionary...And IMO the game accomplishes just that. Jeff even putsin thegood controls and I believe environemnt, so whatsreally holdingback the game Jeff?Sure the career mode and goals aren't all that, but the skating, and the community the game develops are quite superb. The community is great because you can establish an account on EA, and watch, link, upload, and rate skateclips fromtthe game...even providing a way to embed themon facebook...whatother game has that? Not to mention the extensive options availablethrough Xbox Live.I said earlier that the game was really made more so for a niche market, although it is accessible enough for anyone to pick and play, and I believe that is spot on...People looking for a Tony Hawk copy (*cough Jeff) should not even have their hands on the game...Although, if you were to let some that truly skateboards or has had an experience skating play this game, they'd be completely blown away...Is that Jeff's fault? No. But if the guy can't appreciate the game for what it is, I don' t think he should be reviewing the game at all. Often times high scores are given out to the game's which are the best in their genre, but with Skate I don't think the game can really be compared to any other game that is currently out on the market, and that in itself speaks volumes to its quality. Overall I just think the problem Jeff had reviewing this game was much like the problem he had in reviewing VF5, he just has no idea what he's talking about.

Dvader was right, Transformers was pretty damn awesome!!!

Alright I'm gonna be honest, I thought this movie looked like it would be one of the the worse of all time. Ever since Transformers was announced I thought man that is such a horrible idea, thinking of the small audience that would appreciate it, and when I saw those models I scoffed at how they strayed so far from the originals. However, after hearing good things about the movie from almost everyone including Dvader, I decided to give the movie a shot yesterday. I will summarize my thoughts in this list of pro's & cons.

Pros

-Megan Fox is one of the hottest women I have ever seen, I mean she is so hot I was practically salivating through the entire movie. She is now in Des's top 5 most wanted list.

-Special Effects are some of the best I've ever seen, and the because they are so good the combat really feels visceral

-Sound Effects also unbelievable you feel like you are at every scene of battle, and the giant mechs sound like giant mechs should

-This movie is jam packed full of action, as every action movie should, in fact you'll be hard pressed to find many dull moments throughout

-Megan Fox is hot as already stated, but there is also another chick played by Rachel Taylor, who is just as gorgeous (well almost).

-The cast is really pretty good, Shia Labeouf is quite funny in a Peter Parker sort of way, and Anthony Anderson & Bernie Mac provide a few laughs also.

Cons

-The movie is kinda of cheesy

-The story is lacking a little bit, and because the movie is so jam packed with action it suffers even more

-The girls in this movie are almost too hot, I mean Christ, Rachel Taylor is so hot that her role is totally unbelievable (she plays a computer hacking nerd).Transformers

-The Transformers look nothing like the ones of old

-Not only is the story lacking but if you were an avid follower of the old series you might feel like a script was thrown together out of nowhere for this movie, not enough things tied in, and very little backstory is given.

-The movie kinda feels like one big car advertisement for Pontiac and Chevrolet.

Review Score: 7/10

Note to Self: Talking Often and Alot doesn't mean you're informed

What I've come to realize after looking over my past posts, that I have been forcing alot of posts as of lately. I use to only post when I felt that I could make a post that was both well-informed and was of some considerable aid to others. I was really astonished when I looked at the depreciation of quality over time that became apparent to me after looking through some of my old posts. I've seen some users on GS that rarely post throughout the day, but when they post people listen, I think I was headed towards the same direction but I am no longer headed down that path. As a result, I've decided to cut back on posting, do a little more analyzing and reflection of each situation. I've been making comments as of lately that were brash and somewhat "noob" like if you will. I apologize, and I will get back to being the same open-minded less opinionated poster that I once was.

Humans No Longer Play GoW, Robots Have Taken Over
Okay first and foremost this is more of a topic criticizing what GOWs multiplayer achievement point system has done to the obsessive. I play GOW not for the points but honestly for a competive yet wildy entertaining time. I give a 120 percent effort to having the funniest experience possible, but I'm not sure that many other users have the same agenda. While playing GOW I noticed that many people were playing solely to achieve 100 tag strikes etc., and they approach the game basically from a workman like standpoint. For example, one time I shot a guy down, and chainsawed him. One of my teammates yells at me, what are you doing, if you execute him you can get achievement points. I needed those. Of course I brushed him off, like his type was of a rarity. Then the next game, during the entire game my teammates go for grenade sticks in order to get points, they are insuccessful during the entire 10 game match. I'm not angry but I simply ask my teammates why did you do that? He replies, shut up, I'm better than you I have more achievement points. The next day I play, and this guy keeps downing people and somehow lifting them up in order to get points.

About Me

My name is Des, I'm an 18 year old English major at Xavier University in the concretely conservative town of Cincinnati, Ohio. I plan on not only playing games but writing about them for a living. I whine a lot, get use to it, I continually scrutinize the state of the industry. I do so because it's just good practice for me to continually look at gaming objectively. I love a good discussion too, it is basically what I go to the forums to do, argue ummm I mean discuss, lol. Anyway if your on Xbox Live don't be scared to send me a friend request obviously my gamertag is on the right near the bottom.
