My Second Vista Experience...
Ohhhkay, lets me kinda start from the beginning to get some perspective.. for the company that I work for I have certain entitlements that allow me to gain software "Legally" usually for free on the day of or shortly after their release date, generally only the big companies anyway, one of course being Microsoft.. so anyway me and my work buddies all completed our training for Windows Vista and were sent legit copies of Vista Home Premium x86 (32-Bit Edition btw..), when I first installed it I didn't really have much luck simply because the HDD I was installing it on was kinda dodgy, (well very dodgy actually) - it would restart almost every 5 minutes sometimes less, sometimes more.. so the first experience was I got to install some programs.. check out the new UI but that was it.. using it became unbareable so I never went back for a while anyway. Since then, I have upgraded my computer i'll post my new specs:
CoolerMaster CM830 Stacker (Case)
BFG 8800GTX OC Edition (GPU)
AMD Athlon 5200+ 2.61GHz (CPU)
MSI K9N Diamond (Mobo)
Corsair 2GBs DDR2 (RAM)
Seagate 320GB (HDD) (Just got this today, I was running XP MCE on an older 160GB HDD)
Thats pretty much the most important bits, and here are the other bits which are still cool.. but not so important.. and the following may seem like i'm a bit of a fan-boy for a particular brand.
Samsung 22" LCD 226BW (Widescreen Monitor)
Logitech Z-680 5.1 (Uhh..surround-sound speakers)
Logitech G5 (LAZUH! Mouse)
Logitech G15 (Keyboard WITH LCD ZOMGBBQWTFROFL!)
I've had the last three for a very long time.. anywhos.. back to the "Experience"..
I ordered my new Vista version to take advantage of the 64-bit capabilities of my new CPU which was ordered about 2 weeks ago and only just received it today.. not because the place I ordered it from is slack.. but because my dads new computer was on the same order and they had to wait for the case to arrive, anyway, oh I just remembered I got another two 120MM Fans for my case as well. So I installed the new OS.. which I was really looking forward too and it went like a dream, much the same as Windows
eventually did, it automatically detected the Network (as it should) and I was pretty much on the internet straight away... not a
good thing when you haven't installed an AV yet. Found the Vista drivers... AND x64 Drivers for that matter for every single piece of equipment that I have.. its running awesome .. lol, I haven't tried games yet because i've been pretty much installing everything to get my pc working.
The only hiccup i've had so far was some incompatibility with Windows Media Player 11 and my G15 Keyboard, the G15 can display song information when you playing it through Windows Media Player 10 or previous versions.. but doesn't seem to like WMP11, so to get past this I found where the Logitech Media Display plug-in was located and deleted it to stop the LCD from displaying an error everytime it began the plug-in. I'm hoping in the near future they fix this issue because it was a very neat feature for the LCD. Thanks for reading the whole way through or atleast this sentence
, stay tuned and I will let you know how Vista gaming pans out... oh and BTW, I pre-ordered Lord of the Rings Online.. i've been playing the Beta for the last week or so and absolutely love it.. its 1am in the morning.. but I want to see how that game runs on Vista..
cyaz soon.PS: I've gotten into the bad habit of using alot of these things... all the time... its an annoying habit.. lol..

Collectors Edition...
This "Petition thing" for Bioshock to get a Collectors edition is indeed an interesting one and it really did succeed, imagine that, a company listening to their fans, which is a rarety these days - but having said that, they did promise that if they got 5k signatures they would do it, ~18k signatures later, they confirm that they will release one. I've read some posts about saying that a company shouldn't release a collectors edition until after its released because it may not be a good game, but I think the Publisher covered their arses in this regard because they know that they are almost (Almost being the keyword), almost guaranteed that ~18k people will get it, seems like a fair enough deal to me. Now they want to know what people want for their extra $10, music cd?, better packaging?, Figurine? 0_o and hell even an Art Book, the whole idea for a Collectors edition to me is having that awesome "Tin","Metal","Extra Shiny" box that stands out from the rest of your "Standard boxes", if I want i'm sure I could extract the music so a music cd isn't worth it, a figurine? well ok maybe thats not that great but it stands out from everything else, which is what the Collectors Edition is designed to do.. to stand out amongst the crowd.
'nuff said.
PS: There are probably spelling errors.
